We read three PUMA India category pages on August 8, 2026 - men's shoes, women's shoes and men's clothing, 24 server-rendered tiles each - and kept all 72 listings that publish a price. Three things came out of it. We read 159 AJIO menswear listings on August 8, 2026 - jeans, shirts, jackets and sweatshirts - and tested them against the two coupon offers AJIO advertises on its own homepage: Rs. 750 off a Rs. 2,990 basket and Rs. 450 off Rs. 1,990. Three things came out of it. We pulled Myntra's own men's t-shirt and casual-shirt listing data on August 8, 2026 and kept the 64 rows carrying a checkout price, a stated MRP and an image. On the shirt half of that pull, the checkout price is the fixed number and the stated MRP is the variable one: 22 of the 32 casual shirts land between Rs. 482 and Rs. 670, while the MRPs printed above those prices run from Rs. 999 to Rs. 2,499. One brand states Rs. 1,599 on a shirt it sells for Rs. 495 and Rs. 1,299 on a shirt it sells for Rs. 584 - the lower claim producing the dearer shirt. A Roadster at a stated Rs. 999 costs Rs. 492 and a Roadster at a stated Rs. 2,499 costs Rs. 667, so Rs. 1,500 of extra claim buys Rs. 175 of extra shirt. The brands discounting least carry the most evidence: an H&M tee at zero per cent off has 78,368 ratings. Fifty-three of them sit between 70 and 85 per cent off. A signal that five listings in six share cannot rank anything, so we sorted on what does vary: rating counts, which run from 13 to 22,427 across this counter, with 16 rows publishing none at all. One brand's rail makes the case on its own - aayu's ten listings cover maternity maxis, a georgette wrap, a bodycon midi and an off-shoulder flounce, at prices spanning Rs. 321 and stated MRPs spanning Rs. 2,000, with two entirely different dresses priced identically at Rs. 592. The deepest badge in the read, 85 per cent, produces a Rs. 669 kurta that sits beside dresses discounted 15 points less. The highest claim, Rs. 5,845, produces a Rs. 918 dress. We pulled Myntra's own men's and women's shoe listing data on August 8, 2026 and kept the 83 rows carrying a checkout price, a stated MRP and an image. Three brands account for 49 of them and each prices in a completely different way. HRX holds 29 listings - a third of the wall - at prices from Rs. 845 to Rs. 999, a Rs. 154 spread, behind stated MRPs ranging from Rs. 2,999 to Rs. 5,499. Red Tape's seven listings sit at 80 to 83 per cent off, claim the highest list prices on the wall at up to Rs. 8,699 - more than any Puma - and sell for Rs. 1,003 to Rs. 1,478, which is below every Puma listing here. Puma's thirteen run from Rs. 1,349 to Rs. 3,999 with badges falling from 70 per cent to 20 as the shoes get more technical, which is the only rail where the price moves with the product. We read 46 Amazon India laptop listings on August 8, 2026 from amazon.in's own search results and seated the 22 that are laptops rather than components. The shelf has one shape and it runs backwards. The deepest discounts sit on the cheapest machines: a Lenovo V15 with a Ryzen 3 and 8GB of memory states a list price of Rs. 1,21,000 and sells at Rs. 48,890, a 60 per cent badge, while a Rs. 3,59,990 ASUS ROG Zephyrus states Rs. 3,95,990 and prints 9 per cent. That entry machine's claimed list price is higher than the actual selling price of every non-gaming laptop in the read. Inside a single product line, the Ryzen 5 version claims Rs. 1,01,990 while the weaker Ryzen 3 version claims Rs. 1,21,000. The second problem is the evidence: rating counts here run from 5 to 1,127 on purchases costing Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 3.6 lakh, and only one listing in 46 has been rated by more than a thousand people. Twenty-two picks, every one carrying a real Amazon rating and count.

We read 69 Amazon India luggage and travel-backpack listings on August 8, 2026 from amazon.in's own search results. We read 84 AJIO women's sandal and heel listings on August 8, 2026 from ajio.com's own search API, then sorted them by what each shoe actually is. Flats and slip-ons, 32 pairs, median Rs. 600. Chunky and block heels, 20 pairs, median Rs. 669. Stilettos, six pairs, median Rs. 741. Platforms, five pairs, median Rs. 792. Kitten heels, eight pairs, median Rs. 799. Per unit that is Rs. 8.45 to Rs. 46.14 a watt and 5.5 to 14 paise per mAh. Three 65W chargers here cost Rs. 1,994, Rs. 1,999 and Rs. 1,999 while carrying badges of 20, 50 and 50 per cent, because their claimed list prices differ by Rs. 1,500. Where a real specification explains a gap - 35W output, gallium-nitride construction, a built-in cable - we name it, and because charging is a chain we flag where the cheapest pick in one aisle throttles the one beside it. We pulled Tata CLiQ's own home furnishing data on August 8, 2026 and kept the 36 rows carrying a price, a stated MRP and an image - curtains, cushion covers, sofa covers and throws. The shelf splits by who is selling rather than by what is being sold. Marketplace sellers discount by 44 to 75 per cent, with one seller alone accounting for nine listings at 57 to 72 per cent, while every recognised home-textile label in the read - DDecor, House This, TESU, TARA, Freedom Tree - sits between 10 and 33 per cent. We read 109 Tata CLiQ watch and sunglass listings on August 8, 2026 from tatacliq.com's own product API, and the discount column turned out to be a short list of repeated numbers rather than a response to any product. Twenty-six listings carry exactly 30 per cent off and they run from Rs. 588 to Rs. 97,996 - a hundred and sixty-seven times the price under one badge, across fourteen unrelated brands. Thirty more sit at exactly 10 per cent, from Rs. 1,615 to Rs. 36,000. Nine sit at 20, and exactly one listing carries 25. The tiers are finer-grained than the brands: Ray-Ban appears at both 30 and 10 per cent on comparable pilot frames, with the cheaper pair carrying the deeper cut. Converted into money the percentages stop being comparable at all - the biggest badge here, 75 per cent, saves Rs. 2,160, while a 45 per cent badge saves Rs. 96,750.
