AbhiBus's Travel Guarantee add-on pays 3X the ticket fare if the bus operator cancels the service - and according to AbhiBus's own FAQ, read on 22 October 2026, that 3X is one part cash and two parts coupon. 1X (100%) of the fare after discount adjustments goes back to your original payment source; 2X (200%) is issued as an AbhiBus Travel Guarantee Coupon locked to your account and mobile number and usable only on a future bus booking. AbhiBus's own worked example: a Rs. 1,000 fare plus a Rs. 20 fee returns Rs. 1,000 to your card and Rs. 2,000 as a coupon, with the Rs. 20 fee non-refundable under any circumstances. The benefit applies only when the operator fully cancels - not on a partial cancellation, a delay or a breakdown - and not at all if you cancel yourself. The fee starts at Rs. 9. Nothing was booked or claimed.
AbhiBus's Free Cancellation add-on, read from its own published FAQ on 22 October 2026. It is an opt-in paid service selected on the passenger details page before payment. Cancel inside the window and AbhiBus refunds 100% of the ticket base fare automatically to your original payment mode, with no documents required - but in its own words, "the Free cancellation charge will not be refunded". The window is usually 6 hours before journey start, and AbhiBus states that for certain bus partners it extends to 1 hour, so the applicable number is per booking and is shown on the review page and the ticket copy. Cancel after the window and the refund follows the bus partner's own policy, which AbhiBus does not publish centrally. If the operator cancels, AbhiBus says it refunds 100% of the total paid regardless. Nothing was booked or cancelled.
AbhiBus's own published FAQ read on 22 October 2026, looking for where the aggregator model shows. On four questions travellers routinely ask, the answer is the bus partner's: luggage allowance, charges for extra boxes, partial cancellation and the cancellation refund slab. On luggage AbhiBus publishes nothing at all - no weight, no bag count, no box limit, no fee - only that "Every Bus Partner has their own rules". Seat pricing within one bus is explained, with three reasons: AC and non-AC in the same vehicle, seater and sleeper in the same vehicle, and operators pricing front rows above back rows. What AbhiBus does publish centrally: a 15-minute boarding margin, mandatory government photo ID, refunds processed instantly or within 24 hours with a 7-day wait before querying, 100% back if the operator cancels, and Indian-issued cards only. We rendered makemytrip.com's offers page at about 15:03 IST on 20 October 2026 — 99 cards, logged out, nothing booked. Nine carried an hour-level countdown and every one read 08h:56m or 08h:57m, so all nine ended at the same midnight — and three of the nine were the same code, MMTFESTIVE. Those offers have expired and are written up here as an illustration, not as live deals. The page runs three clocks at once: 9 countdowns, 67 fixed dates, 23 with no expiry at all, plus one card still stamped "Expires on 30 Sep". 48 of the 67 dated cards fall on four month-end days. The real deadlines are the odd mid-month dates.
We read MakeMyTrip's offers page on 20 October 2026 — 98 cards, rendered, logged out, from India — and recorded the dates it prints. The Cruise section of MakeMyTrip's User Agreement, read on 14 October 2026, is the least-read part of the most expensive thing on the site. A confirmed cruise booking cannot be amended at all: "no amendments (e.g., date changes, itinerary modifications) will be allowed", and "the User must cancel the existing booking and rebook a new Cruise" at "pricing at the time of" rebooking. "Name changes and modifications to passport details are not permitted." Cancellation terms are the cruise line's, not MMT's, and "taxes or service charge, convenience fees etc." are "not refundable". MakeMyTrip's own offers page read on 14 October 2026: 98 live offer cards, 16 of them printing a coupon code. MMTFESTIVE appears twice — "Up to ₹1000 OFF*" on buses, cabs, trains and flights, and "FLAT ₹1000 OFF*" on round trips — and both expire 20 Oct. Six more die within twelve days, including an Air India sale card dated 15 Oct. Nine cards were counting down in hours, not days, two of them naming a one-hour clock window. The bus codes — MMTNORTH, MMTSOUTH, MMTEAST, MMTWEST, MEGABUS, RTCNEW, FLIX15 — all run to 30 or 31 December. Every code and date is MakeMyTrip's own printed text. No code applied, nothing booked.
Under the heading PERMISSIONS REQUIRED FOR USING OUR MOBILE APPLICATIONS, MakeMyTrip's privacy policy says: "a list of permissions appear and are needed for the app to function effectively. There is no option to customize the list." Fourteen follow, each with MMT's own stated reason. On contacts: "This information will be stored on our servers and synced from your phone." On SMS: "we read your SMS to autofill or prepopulate 'OTP'." Also on the page: IMEI/IMSI and SIM serial number for unique identification, a no-selling clause with an "except" in the same sentence, and no retention period anywhere. Inside abhibus.com/terms, below the bus, flight and hotel sections, is a programme AbhiBus does not advertise: free roadside assistance if your bus is immobilised. What it gives you is specific — a third-party partner will "arrange pickup of stranded passengers and transport them to their desired destination or the nearest major town/city, within a maximum distance of 300 kilometres". What it demands is equally specific: you must report the interruption through the official AbhiBus helpline "within one hour of the incident occurring". It covers private buses only — "does not apply to government-operated Road Transport Corporation (RTC) services" — and excludes towing, repair, reimbursement, hotels and meals. Read 11 October 2026. AbhiBus publishes 33 offers, and eleven of them quietly have two prices. On every one, the number in the title is the new-user number. "Save upto Rs.500 on UPSRTC bookings" pays a returning customer "10% upto Rs.50 cashback" — a tenth. "50% off on RSRTC" becomes 10%, and cashback rather than money off the fare. Even for new users that 50% is capped at Rs. 100, so it is 12.5% on a Rs. 800 ticket. Where AbhiBus is even, we say so: GSRTC holds the same rate for everyone, and the live FESTIVAL code gives existing users 8% plus 8% cashback up to Rs. 200 each. AbhiBus is running a Diwali-window bus coupon, and two of its terms decide whether it is worth anything to you. "Offer is valid only for journey dates between 8 October 2026 and 25 October 2026" - that is your travel date, not your booking date. And the headline percentage is the new-user one: "20% off up to Rs. 200 + 20% cashback up to Rs. 200 for new users on their first booking. Existing users get 8% off up to Rs. 200 + 8% cashback up to Rs. 200." We read the offer first-party on 4 October 2026. A Rs. 500 minimum applies, it works once per user, you must be logged in, it cannot be stacked, and government RTC buses are excluded entirely.
AbhiBus advertises a 150% refund and its own FAQ explains exactly what that means. 'Customers are eligible for upto 150% refund in case of bus service cancellation. While 100% of the booking amount will be refunded back to the source or mode of payment, the remaining upto 50% amount will be refunded back through UPI ID of the customer or through Non-Promo Abhicash... based on customer preference.' There are three other Assured payouts with three different rules, and one deadline that voids all of them: claims must be filed 'within 24 hours of journey end'. The delay clause is the generous one — past a two-hour buffer you get a full refund even if you travelled. The exclusions are blunt: Free Cancellation's own charge 'will not be refunded', and arriving late at the pickup point 'is not considered for refund'.
MakeMyTrip publishes exactly which traveller reviews it takes down, in its own user agreement, and two of the five categories are not what you would guess. 'Reviews containing abusive or inappropriate language, personal attacks, hotel pricing details, comparisons with other hotels or OTAs, or statements that are controversial or disrespectful towards any religion are removed.' Pricing and comparisons are the two things a traveller comparing options would most want from a review. Three more clauses shape what reaches you: moderation is automated — 'powered by advanced AI technology'; a part-offending review 'may still be published with the remaining appropriate text', with no marker that anything was cut; and reviews in any regional language other than Hindi carry an English translation made 'using available online tools'.
