Across the 62 listings we kept, OTGs run Rs. 1,749 to Rs. 18,367 at a median Rs. 4,499 and a median 47% off, with 18 of 29 under Rs. 5,000 and 20 of 29 badged 40% or more. Microwaves run Rs. 4,890 to Rs. 46,290 at a median Rs. 13,580 and just 15% off, with only four under Rs. 8,000 — the best-rated machine on the shelf, IFB's 30 litre convection, is 9% off, and LG's 20 litre solo is 4% off. The discount is attached to the appliance type rather than to any sale. Two cautions from the data: several brands display one shared rating across models (Pigeon's 9L, 20L and 50L OTGs all show 3.4 from 7,617), and nine listings stated MRPs at 100 times their selling price, rendering as 99% badges; all nine were excluded here.

Eight Vijay Sales kitchen appliance category pages, read on 3 September 2026, hold 131 listings running from Rs. 249 to Rs. 25,800 at a median of Rs. 3,360 and a median 37% off, with 62 under Rs. 3,000 and 12 under Rs. 1,000. The air fryer is the shelf that has moved: it starts at Rs. 2,615, carries a median 44% off, and five of the aisle's six deepest badges are air fryers — against a median mixer grinder price of Rs. 6,318. Hand blenders are the opposite, cheap to enter at Rs. 699 but the shallowest discounts on the aisle at a median 19%. By brand, Lifelong runs a median 70% off and KENT 54%, while Philips runs 24% across its 20 listings and Ninja 14% at a median Rs. 10,999. Vijay Sales publishes no ratings on these cards, so price and stated MRP are the only numbers available.

We queried Croma's own search service on 28 August 2026 for kettles, toasters, sandwich makers and hand blenders and got 70 listings; this page covers the 49 non-kettle ones, priced Rs. 499 to Rs. 5,995. Two of them share an identical description - Croma 800W 2 Slice Pop-Up Toaster with Removable Crumb Tray - and sell at Rs. 1,094 in green and Rs. 3,599 in peach, against stated MRPs of Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 5,400. They are separate SKUs and the listings publish nothing else that separates them; only the cheaper one has ratings. Across the shelf the badge tracks the brand rather than the sale: Croma's own label discounts a median 37 per cent, Philips 13, Shark Ninja a flat 14. Wattage barely predicts price - a Philips 900W toaster undercuts the 650W from the same sub-range - and only 21 of the 49 listings carry a rating at all, the largest count being 41.

We read 36 non-sponsored Amazon listings across five microwave searches on 27 August 2026 and seated 20, Rs. 2,509 to Rs. 25,740. Three things stand out. Eight of the 36 listings are not microwaves at all - they are oven-toaster-grills, which bake with heating elements and cannot microwave anything, and they occupy the whole shelf below Rs. 5,190. The discount badge runs opposite to the customer evidence: the 13 listings with 1,000-plus ratings carry a median 15 per cent off, while the nine with fewer than ten ratings carry up to 45. And two listings state an MRP exactly one hundred times their price - Rs. 8,49,900 on a Rs. 8,499 grill and Rs. 16,99,000 on a Rs. 16,990 convection - which Amazon renders as 99 per cent off. Both are seated with the badge zeroed and the error named.

We read Amazon India's kitchen chimney shelf on 26 August 2026 across three queries and seated 22 models priced Rs. 4,199 to Rs. 25,749. Two of them carry a discount badge of 99 per cent, and in both cases the reason is the same: the stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price. RUWA's Rs. 4,199 chimney lists against Rs. 4,19,900 and Glen's Rs. 24,999 KOPPA against Rs. 24,99,900 - a price field entered in paise rather than a discount. Because the badges on this shelf cannot be compared, every card here prices the specification the category is actually sold on: suction in m3/hr. That rate runs from about Rs. 4.7 per m3/hr on an INALSA at Rs. 5,199 to Rs. 15.6 on the Glen KOPPA. Rating counts repeat across hood widths too - Elica's 60 cm and 90 cm 1350 m3/hr chimneys both show 4,459 ratings, Faber's two autoclean models both show 678 - so a large count often describes a model rather than the width you are buying.

We read both induction cooktop shelves on 24 August 2026 - 48 listings on amazon.in and 26 on croma.com, each with a price and a stated MRP - and found four models sold on both storefronts under the same model name. They split two-all. Croma is cheaper on the Prestige PIC 6.1 V3 2200W (Rs. 4,499 against Rs. 4,895) and the Prestige PIC 20 NEO 1600W (Rs. 2,299 against Rs. 2,320); Amazon is cheaper on the Havells TC20 2000W (Rs. 4,999 against Rs. 5,330) and the Usha Cookjoy 2000W (Rs. 4,099 against Rs. 4,299). The largest gap on any matched model is 8 per cent. What differs far more is the MRP: the same PIC 20 NEO is listed against Rs. 3,330 on Amazon and Rs. 2,850 on Croma, so a 21-rupee price difference becomes an eleven-point difference in the discount badge. The shelves differ in shape too - Amazon's sub-Rs. 2,000 band is marketplace labels, Croma stocks only recognisable brands, and Amazon's biggest rating count here is 44,129 against Croma's largest of 143.

We read Amazon India's induction cooktop shelf on 24 August 2026 across five search queries and seated 18 listings priced Rs. 1,499 to Rs. 2,999. The clearest line on the page is at Rs. 2,000: six of the seven cooktops below it average under 4.0 - down to 3.0 on the cheapest - and every average of 4.1 or better costs Rs. 2,190 or more. The one exception is an iBELL SLIM50 at Rs. 1,989, rated 4.1 by 3,326 buyers with a stated three-year warranty. Wattage runs backwards against price: the three cheapest listings claim 2000W while Prestige's 44,129-rating flagship at Rs. 2,330 is 1600W and its Rs. 1,850 model is 1200W, because the money here buys the board, the surge protection and the service network rather than the coil. The best-argued cooktop in the read is the iBELL 20YO at Rs. 2,290 - 2000W, double coil, three-year warranty, 4.3 from 3,703 ratings. Every price and MRP is Amazon's.

We read Amazon India's air fryer shelf on 23 August 2026 across eight search queries and seated 22 listings, priced Rs. 2,499 to Rs. 4,799, after removing duplicates on ASIN and on the product photograph. Before anything else, a data warning: four listings printed a stated MRP of exactly one hundred times their selling price - Rs. 3,199 against Rs. 3,19,900, and three more like it - which would have rendered as 99 per cent discounts. We dropped all four. What remains shows a badge that runs backwards against the evidence. Philips, the most established name in the read with 5,708 ratings at 4.4, carries the smallest discount on the page at 22 per cent; the deepest badges, up to 76 per cent off a claimed Rs. 12,499, sit on listings with 122, 40 and zero ratings. The machine that wins on evidence is a Tower 4.5-litre at Rs. 3,699 with 9,431 ratings at 4.6, the largest crowd and highest average here. Capacity barely tracks price: 2 litres costs Rs. 2,999, 5 litres Rs. 3,399.

We read 74 Vijay Sales air fryer, microwave, mixer grinder and small kitchen appliance listings on August 12, 2026 from the retailer's own category pages, and seated 19. Priced by the litre, the two big formats on this shelf are two different economies: a litre of microwave cavity costs Rs. 312 to Rs. 482, while a litre of air fryer basket costs Rs. 667 to Rs. 1,833 - between two and four times as much for a machine that holds less food. Inside the air fryer chapter alone the identical 4.2-litre basket sells at Rs. 667 a litre from one brand and Rs. 1,833 from another. The second pattern is the badge: the challenger brands run deep, with KENT at a median 58 per cent across four listings, Morphy Richards at 54 and Wonderchef at 47, while the incumbents hold at 23 per cent for Philips and Panasonic, 28 for IFB and 29 for Ninja, against a shelf median of 35. Not one of the 74 rows carries a customer rating. Nineteen picks, Rs. 299 to Rs. 13,490.

We read 115 Croma chimney, hob and induction cooktop listings on August 12, 2026 from the retailer's own catalogue across three queries, and seated 20. Priced by the thing you are actually buying, the chimneys run from Rs. 4.67 to Rs. 14.76 per cubic metre per hour of suction - a 3.2x range for the same extracted air - and the induction plates from 97 paise to Rs. 2.08 a watt. The same 1300 m3/hr Bosch motor costs Rs. 1,900 more in a 90cm body than a 60cm one, which is capture area rather than power. Thirty-four of the 115 rows carry a rating and exactly one has a usable sample: a Rs. 3,999 Philips cooktop at 4.3 from 143 votes, the only pick here with a rating pill, on a shelf that also contains a 5.0 and a 1.0 each built on a single vote. One Elica two-burner manual gas stove is listed at Rs. 3,299 against a stated MRP of Rs. 29,990, an 89 per cent badge and the only figure above 66 per cent in the read. Twenty picks, Rs. 1,749 to Rs. 47,399.

We read 38 Reliance Digital air conditioner, dishwasher, chimney and oven listings on August 11, 2026 from the retailer's own listing data, and seated 22. Every one of these categories publishes a hard capacity number - tons, place settings, centimetres, litres - and in every one of them the capacity turns out to be the cheap part. A 1 Ton 5 star air conditioner costs Rs. 38,490 while a 1.5 Ton 3 star costs Rs. 28,990: fifty per cent more cooling for Rs. 9,500 less, because you are paying for the star rating rather than the tonnage. Three dishwashers of identical 14 place-setting capacity span Rs. 26,290 to Rs. 58,087, a factor of 2.2. Three chimneys from one brand step cleanly from 60 to 90 cm at about Rs. 140 per centimetre, and a rival 90 cm costs Rs. 13,290 more than that brand's own. A 20 litre solo microwave is Rs. 4,988 and a 28 litre convection is Rs. 24,490. Not one of the 38 listings carries a rating. Twenty-two picks, Rs. 4,988 to Rs. 58,087.

We read 63 Croma kitchen listings on August 10, 2026 from the retailer's own product API - 21 mixer grinders, 21 induction cooktops and 21 air fryers - and seated 21. Two findings run through the page. First, the same product is listed twice: the Croma Infrared 2200W cooktop with three presets appears at Rs. 3,469 badged 31 per cent and again at Rs. 3,799 badged 24 per cent, both against an identical stated MRP of Rs. 5,000, so a shopper comparing percentages rather than prices pays Rs. 330 extra for the same hob. Second, wattage can be priced: Croma's own mixer ladder holds a flat Rs. 2.80 per watt, while a Philips 1000-watt four-jar machine at Rs. 14,995 works out at Rs. 14.99 against Croma's 1000-watt four-jar at Rs. 3,999. Ratings barely exist - nine listings carry twenty or more, twenty-nine carry one to five, nineteen carry none - and the deepest badge in the read, 63 per cent on a Havells air fryer, rests on a single rating of 1.0. Twenty-one picks, Rs. 1,399 to Rs. 54,690.
