We read 33 discounted wristwatches from Tata CLiQ's own product API on 4 September 2026. The shelf runs Rs. 873 to Rs. 44,100 at a median of Rs. 10,797 and a median 35% off a stated median MRP of Rs. 17,000. Two findings are worth the visit. Whole brands share a single badge: all four Seiko listings are discounted exactly 10%, all three Carlton Londons exactly 40%, both French Connections exactly 75%, both Fastracks and both Guesses exactly 30%. And the discount shrinks at every price step — a median 65% off below Rs. 2,000, 49% to Rs. 5,000, 30% to Rs. 15,000 and 15% above it. Only 16 of the 33 listings carry a customer rating, and those sit on a median of seven votes.

Three AJIO accessory searches on 28 August 2026 returned 124 listings with a price, a stated MRP and a badge: 43 sunglasses, 42 men's belts and 39 wallets, priced from Rs. 180 to Rs. 12,951 at a median of Rs. 869. Eighty of the 124 sell at or under Rs. 1,000, and the three categories behave identically down there - they bottom out within Rs. 20 of each other and badge 64 to 65 per cent at the median. The badge itself tracks the struck-through MRP rather than your saving: the 35 listings badging 70 per cent or more have a median MRP of Rs. 2,099 and sell at Rs. 606, while the 17 badging 30 per cent or less have a median MRP of Rs. 1,295 and sell at Rs. 999. Ray-Ban badges 10 per cent; a Zevora belt badges 90. AJIO publishes no ratings for any of these 124 products.

We read AJIO's own catalogue on 19 August 2026 across three queries - women's sandals, women's flats and men's sandals - which returned 213 rows, of which 118 sit under Rs. 800 with both a price and a stated MRP. Twenty-four are seated here. What the full pool shows is that on this shelf the price is a tier rather than a product. Ten different sandals from SHEZONE and Shoetopia sell at exactly Rs. 560, and every one of them states an MRP of Rs. 1,999. Six more sell at exactly Rs. 460, all stating Rs. 1,999. Three sell at Rs. 520, all stating Rs. 1,999. Nineteen shoes, three prices, one list price. On the same shelf the Lifestyle-group house labels behave completely differently: MAX, Bata, Ginger and Campus state Rs. 399 to Rs. 799 and discount by 8 to 30 per cent - and a MAX braided flat at Rs. 559 sits one rupee below the ten-listing tier while claiming a third of their MRP.

We read Myntra's own listing data across four women's ethnic paths on 20 August 2026 - anarkali-kurta, kurta-sets, ethnic-dresses and lehenga-choli - which returned 53 adult listings carrying both a price and a stated MRP, and seated the 22 that sell under Rs. 1,000. The finding that shapes the page is how little the badge describes the garment. Everything seated here sells between Rs. 434 and Rs. 999, a spread of Rs. 565, while the MRPs printed behind those prices run from Rs. 699 to Rs. 4,599. Two unrelated sellers state exactly the same Rs. 2,999 MRP behind garments priced seven rupees apart. The smallest claim on the page, 10 per cent, belongs to a Rs. 628 dress whose seller says it lists at Rs. 699; the largest, 86 per cent, sits on a Rs. 658 cotton kurta with 7,804 ratings at 4.1. Meanwhile the two largest crowds in the read - 16,204 and 16,178 ratings - sit at Rs. 910 and Rs. 620, and one seated listing publishes no rating at all.

We read Myntra's own listing data across four sunglasses listing pages on 20 August 2026, which returned 47 listings carrying both a price and a stated MRP. Forty-four of them sell for under Rs. 1,000, and 22 are seated here from Rs. 303 to Rs. 992. The finding that shapes the page is what the discount badge is actually measuring. Six HAYDEN haiza pairs sell between Rs. 316 and Rs. 395 - a spread of seventy-nine rupees - and carry badges of 21, 29, 37, 43, 63, 84 and 85 per cent, because the same brand has stated list prices of Rs. 399, 449, 599, 699, 999, 1,999 and 2,499 for near-identical products. Across the whole read, 47 listings share only 21 distinct MRPs and Rs. 1,999 appears twelve times. Two pairs at exactly Rs. 316 carry badges of 84 and 21 per cent. The evidence points elsewhere: the most-rated listing has 3,600 ratings at Rs. 499, the highest average is 4.55 from 2,650 buyers at Rs. 599, and one pair in 47 is polarised.

We read 47 Tata CLiQ listings on 19 August 2026, 32 of them sunglasses, priced from Rs. 720 to Rs. 12,231. The shelf sorts cleanly once you stop reading the badges as savings. Every Ray-Ban listing in the read sits between 10% and 30% off, on stated MRPs of Rs. 6,390 to Rs. 13,590, because Ray-Ban enforces its pricing across Indian retail. The marketplace-only labels - Ted Smith, Resist Eyewear, John Jacobs and Lenskart's Vincent Chase - run 50% to 76% off stated MRPs of Rs. 1,999 to Rs. 6,000 and land between Rs. 720 and Rs. 1,999, because those brands set both numbers themselves. Nine of the 32 listings are at or under Rs. 1,000. Ratings are thin: eleven listings publish no rating count at all and several more sit in single digits, so this page reports every count alongside its average. The watch aisle in the same read behaves identically - Seiko at 10% off, French Connection claiming 76%.

We read Myntra's own listing data across four watch paths on 19 August 2026 - watches pages one and two, men-watches and women-watches - which returned 89 listings carrying a price and a stated MRP, and seated 22 of them under Rs. 2,500. The story on this shelf is the evidence rather than the discount. A WROGN silver-toned analogue at Rs. 695 carries 16,102 ratings at 4.4, its black-dial sibling at Rs. 831 another 7,458, a Roadster ana-digi at Rs. 689 has 2,435 and a Mast & Harbour at Rs. 759 has 1,131 - while six listings in the same price band, including a Rs. 999 two-watch gift set and a Rs. 1,209 steel-bracelet watch, publish no rating at all. The badges point the other way: the biggest, 87 per cent, belongs to a smartwatch stating a Rs. 17,999 MRP with the lowest average on the page, and the smallest, 17 and 19 per cent, belong to the two Fastracks - the only mainstream watch brand here and the only one whose MRPs are credible.

We read Myntra's own listing data across six men's footwear paths on 19 August 2026 - casual shoes, sports shoes and sneakers, two pages each - which returned 24 listings under Rs. 2,000 carrying both a price and a stated MRP, and seated 22 of them. The finding that shapes the page is what the badges are attached to. The two smallest discounts in the read, 2 per cent and 1 per cent, belong to SG's Savages and FUSION cricket shoes at Rs. 932 and Rs. 1,184, rated 4.3 and 4.5 by 800 and 863 buyers - because a cricket-equipment maker prices at the figure it actually sells at. The largest, 85 per cent, sits on a Rs. 1,109 Red Tape sneaker stating an MRP of Rs. 7,399. Meanwhile six listings on this shelf publish no rating at all, and almost every one of them is priced within a couple of hundred rupees of a shoe carrying thousands - a Campus with no ratings undercuts a Campus with 1,723 by eighteen rupees.

We read Myntra's own listing data across three pages of women's handbags and one of wallets on 18 August 2026 - 64 listings with a price and a stated MRP - and seated 24 under Rs. 2,000. The pattern is not about the bags. Five listings carry no discount whatsoever: WALKWAY by Metro at Rs. 599, TURBOMAX at Rs. 999, Anouk at Rs. 1,499, Nike's Heritage tote at Rs. 1,995 and H&M's crossbody bucket bag at Rs. 1,999 are each priced at exactly their stated MRP. In the same read, a Mast & Harbour tote sells at Rs. 629 claiming 82 per cent off Rs. 3,499, and a ROSS BROWN satchel at Rs. 675 claiming 83 per cent off Rs. 3,999 - both stated MRPs higher than what Nike actually charges. The evidence sits elsewhere: 11,765 ratings on a Rs. 497 sling, 9,710 on a Rs. 899 Lavie tote and 7,492 on that Rs. 629 tote, while six listings carry no rating at all. Sort by price and crowd and this aisle is legible; sort by badge and it is noise.

We read 122 Myntra eyewear listings on August 11, 2026 from the retailer's own listing data across five listing pages and seated 20. This is one wall running two aisles with completely different evidence behind them. The sunglasses aisle gave us 75 rows at a median price of Rs. 499, of which 54 carry ratings, 27 clear a hundred votes and one listing has 9,283. The prescription frames aisle gave us 47 rows at a median Rs. 1,416 - almost three times the price - of which 13 carry ratings and exactly one clears a hundred votes, the best-evidenced frame on the wall having 151. One brand filed nineteen frame listings, twelve at an identical Rs. 1,416, and not one of them has been rated. Eight listings in the whole read carry no discount and seven of those are cases rather than eyewear. Twenty picks, Rs. 299 to Rs. 1,999.
