On a supplement shelf the badge is close to useless, because pack sizes vary so widely that the percentage and the price per unit routinely disagree. Two Now vitamin D bottles carry an identical 34% badge and differ by 43% per softgel. Two Vaamveda calcium listings state the same Rs. 999 MRP for one box and for two, producing badges of 71% and 50% that rank the worse buy higher. It measures how long ago a product was replaced, not how good it is. The clearest proof is in games, where release dates are public: our four PlayStation 4 titles came back at 68%, 60%, 50% and 44% off, and the seven PS5 titles at 48% down to 13%, with almost no overlap. GoPro tells the same story inside one range — the entry Hero at 46%, the Hero12 at 33%, the current Hero13 at 16%. Phones ran from 50% to 3% across 32 listings, ordered almost perfectly by launch date. Whirlpool averaged 12% off across our pull, Samsung 18%, IFB 22% and LG 31%. Against them, Foxsky averaged 50%, Kenstar 53%, Hisense 55% and Morphy Richards 55.5%. That matters more on some shelves than others. A refrigerator is an eight-to-twelve year commitment and an air conditioner needs an annual technician visit, so a 61% badge on a fridge from a licensed brand name is a different proposition from a 55% badge on a television, which either works or has a dead backlight. A percentage that applies to nearly everything cannot help you choose between two things, so we set it aside and sorted 21 picks by price and specification. What emerges is a catalogue laddered far more tightly than the MRP fields suggest: five earbuds at exactly Rs. 1,499, the tier where active noise cancellation now lives; a five-watch range spanning only Rs. 1,399 to Rs. 1,799 across LCD and AMOLED panels; wired earphones from Rs. 299; and home audio at Rs. 3,499 and Rs. 7,999, the only picks here where the outlay is the interesting number. Category averages, ratings and the places the badge ranks two products backwards are all printed.

Neither listing states a refurbishment grade or a warranty term, which is the question we flag on every refurbished pick rather than assuming an answer, and our practical read is that at a Rs. 200 gap the new unit is the sensible default while the refurbished route makes its strongest case on complex items like the Rs. 949 pair with 32dB active noise cancellation. Beyond that, we sorted 21 picks by price: earbuds from Rs. 444, a neckband at Rs. 399, over-ears to Rs. 1,999, the whole watch range across nine hundred rupees, and a wired pair at Rs. 149.

We read Tata CLiQ's own marketplace search on July 28, 2026 across eight categories and pulled 196 in-stock discounted listings with real ratings attached — and the first thing the data shows is one shoe listed three times. The Puma Smashic appears at Rs. 1,575, Rs. 1,710 and Rs. 3,599, all against the same Rs. 4,499 MRP, at badges of 65%, 62% and 20%, with 98, 711 and 695 ratings respectively. The only variable is the colour of the upper, which makes the practical advice unusually simple: search the model name and read every colourway before you buy. We also tested whether the discount tracks how well-reviewed a product is, because it would be a tidy story — it does not. Across the 142 rated listings in our sample, items with 50-plus ratings averaged 39.7% off and items with fewer than 20 averaged 39.0%. Every pick here carries its rating with its count, including a 3.2 and a 3.7 we kept in.
