NMAT by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) is a gateway to leading management institutes in India. It is a forefront towards a successful career in management. There is a 75 day test window to appear for NMAT 2020 that is from October 6 to December 19, 2020. Registration for NMAT 2020 will begin from July 2 and go until October 5, 2020. 

  • It is a computer administered test since 2009 conducted for a duration of 2 hours. Three key sections comprise the NMAT 2020 Exam Pattern: Language skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning where every section is individually timed. 
  • Each candidate is given a randomly generated test from a pool of questions. Number of Questions, level of difficulty and sectional time limit is determined before, regardless of where the candidate is taking the test.

NMAT is known for the diversity of population that take the test mainly including non-engineers and female candidates. NMAT 2019 result has been declared on January 16, 2020. Candidates can download their scorecard till March 31, 2020. 

An interesting feature of NMAT 2020 is that prior to the commencement of exam a 10 minute tutorial on how to attempt the test and 3 minute period for section sequencing is given. It helps the candidates prioritize their sections and solve likewise. In addition to this a Non-Disclosure Agreement is to be signed by the candidate.

Why take NMAT ?

NMAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Certain eligibility norms exist to appear for NMAT. The eligibility conditions can vary depending on the college candidates are aiming for to pursue management.

On the basis of Nationality: Indian and NRI citizens are eligible to apply for NMAT by GMAC. 

Minimum Required Qualification: Candidates with a graduate degree in any discipline are eligible to apply. Minimum marks to be attained are 50%. Candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation are eligible to apply as well. 

Age Limit: Upper age limit to appear for the examination is 25 years. 

Work Experience: Preference to candidates with earlier work experience of 2 or more years is given.

NMAT 2020 Registration Process 

Candidates willing to appear for NMAT 2020 have to fill an online application form available on the official website www.nmat.org.in. Candidates who have earlier registered for the exam can use their earlier login credentials. Following are the registration steps:

  1. Using a valid Email-Id candidates have to create an account on nmat.org.in
  2. Fill in the personal details along with contact information, identity document to be used at the test center and list of programmes opting for. 
  3. Select the management institutes participating in the NMAT 2020 process where candidates have to send the scores.
  4. Candidates can opt upto 5 programmes, the fee for which is included in the registration fee. Any addition to these 5 choices will cost INR 200 + taxes.
  5. Upload photograph and signature in the desired format. It should match with the specifications on the Id proof. (details mentioned below)
  6. Pay the registration fee.
  7. After payment of the prescribed fee, an exam scheduling option is made available to the candidate. 
  8. Post that, Candidates can download their admit card from the dashboard.

Modes of Payment accepted to pay NMAT 2020 fees are VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Debit Card, Net Banking, Diners Club, Mobile Wallets. Candidates should keep in mind that informal images like instagram and facebook photos are not accepted. In case above mentioned specifications are not met, the application form can be rejected by the authorities.

NMAT 2020 Late Registration Process

For NMAT 2020, there is a provision for late registration if the students fail to pay registration fee on July 2 and October 5, 2020. The deadline for late registration is October 6 toOctober 16, 2020.

NMAT 2020 Exam Pattern

NMAT has three sections Language Skills, Quantitative Skills and Logical Reasoning. Each section is allocated a specific time limit. Test takers have to attempt all the questions within the stipulated time limit. Once candidates submit one section, all answers are deemed final and cannot be reviewed.

NMAT 2020 Admit Card

Admit Card for NMAT by GMAC contains registration details and a photograph of the candidate. It is mandatory to produce the document along with necessary ID proofs on the day of the test. Once the fee payment is done for registration, candidates can download their admit card with the photograph. 

On the day of the exam, candidates have to ensure that admit card is signed by the testing invigilator on the designated test center. In case candidates retake the NMAT exam, the same admit card has to be produced which again has to be signed by the invigilator.

Things to keep in mind:

  1. NMAT 2020 Admit cards are to be testified by the test center invigilator as institutes ask for a signed admit card at the time of counselling. 
  2. Do check if the printed photograph on the admit card matches with the one on the application form. 
  3. Candidates will not be allowed to take the test if the photo on the admit card is blurred/blank/not visible.
  4. For any grievance redressal regarding the admit card, applicants can contact the help desk on nmat.org.in or email nmatsupport@gmac.com. 
  5. Do retain the signed admit card until the admission process of the colleges is completed.

NMAT 2020 Exam Preparation Tips

  1. The first thing that will help you prepare for NMAT 2020 are the preparation books catering to different sections of the exam. Following are a few book suggestions.

  2. Students can use the NMAT 2020 official guide by GMAC to prepare for the examination. The guide includes 201 questions based on past papers along with answer keys and explanation. The book costs INR 899.
  3. NMAT 2020 prep guide is also a good option for preparing for the exam. The first online exam is free of cost and consists of 108 past questions. The tests provided later have 216 questions and are priced at INR 799.

NMAT 2020 Exam Day Instructions

Candidates have to report at the test center 45 minutes prior to the commencement of the exam and have to carry the following 3 essentials:

  • Confirmation Email: Test scheduling confirmation mail is sent to the candidates on the registered email id. It can be produced in the form of printouts or on mobile phones. 
  • Admit Card: A printout of the admit card is to be presented at the test center. It can be downloaded from candidates NMAT account. 
  • Valid Id Proof: Candidates have to bring one valid and recent photo Id along with one signature Id proof to the test center.

In case candidates do not produce the above mentioned documents at the exam center, they can be denied entry to the test room. No refund of fees will be done by conducting authorities in such cases. If the test center is opted outside India, Original Passport which is valid and not expired is to be produced as an identity document. Learners Driver’s License, Photocopies of the document and Notarized copies of theId Proof are not acceptable.

NMAT 2020 Test Centres

There are 58 test centres in India spread across 46 major cities. In addition the exam is also conducted in 4 other cities of the Indian subcontinent. NMAT 2020 Participating Institutes

  • Candidates have to keep in mind that Registration for NMAT by GMAC and applying for schools/institutes accepting NMAT scores are two completely separate processes. 
  • Eligibility criteria of the particular institute participating is to be read and undertaken by the candidate before applying for the same. Eligibility for different MBA programs also stands different depending on the management institute.
  • Applicants can send their scores to 5 participating management institutes in India, South Africa and the Philippines. 
  • Candidates have to visit the website of the official school, fill the application form and pay the fee of the management program that candidates seek to send their scores to.
  • No additional fee has to be paid for sending the scores, the fee is included in the overall registration fee.

NMAT 2020 Results

Results for NMAT 2020 will be declared on the official website nmat.org.in within 4-5 weeks after the exam is conducted. Candidates will receive an email about the declaration of results. Access to NMAT Score Card can be done by logging in to account using. Post release of result in score card form, Final percentile scores are also announced, that are sent to the 5 institutes candidates opted for.

  • After 4-5 weeks of the exam, scorecards of the candidate are declared for that window.
  • The final percentile rankings are declared once all the sessions of NMAT for that particular year are over. 
  • Final percentile rankings are calculated when all the candidates have taken their exams. 
  • For instance NMAT percentile score for 2019 session will be added to candidates score card in 3rd week of January 2020. 

The final scorecard mentions a scaled score for each section in the NMAT 2020 paper followed by a total score and percentile ranking.

NMAT 2020 Scaled Scores Vs Percentile Scores

NMAT 2020 Scaled Scores: To eliminate differences in terms of overall difficulty level and questions, the raw test scores of NMAT 2020 will be placed on a common scale. Scaled scores will be used to make sure that scores of any candidate are not affected by different question papers that each candidate gets. 

Percentile Score: Final percentile is calculated at each year end, once all the candidates have completed taking NMAT for that year. Score cards that are sent to school are the final percentile scores. 

NMAT 2020 Cut Off

NMAT 2020 scores will be accepted by 35 colleges in India. Each college has a different cutoff score. The cutoff for NMAT 2020 will be 100-120.
