Zoutons Picks — Croma, August 2026

One hundred and twenty-five cooling listings read on 23 August, and 69 of them have never been rated by anybody.

Prices & codes last verified August 23, 2026

We read 125 Croma cooling listings on 23 August 2026 and seated 24 - twelve ceiling fans from Rs. 1,549 and twelve air coolers from Rs. 2,999. The ratings on this shelf will not hold weight: 69 of the 125 listings have never been rated by anyone, and the highest score on the page, 4.9, rests on eight votes. The clearest evidence is Croma's own brand, where three coolers at an identical Rs. 5,999 are scored 4.6, 3.7 and 2.6. So this page compares listings at matching capacity and price, and on fans it prices the motor rather than the sticker.

Every price below was pulled from Croma on August 23, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Croma coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

“Two Croma coolers, both 24 litres, both claiming Rs. 8,500, Rs. 500 apart in price - rated 4.9 from eight votes and 2.8 from 25.” Zoutons Editorial Team

Four rules for buying cooling on Croma

First: read the vote count before the star, because on this shelf a 4.9 can rest on eight people and a 3.1 on forty - and the forty is the number worth having. Second: on ceiling fans, buy the motor. A 5-star BLDC starts at Rs. 2,499 here and saves roughly Rs. 1,100 a year against the Rs. 1,549 induction fan, so the premium clears inside a summer unless the room is barely used. Third: on coolers, buy litres and a service network, not features - ice chambers add a few degrees for twenty minutes, while pad supply and motor corrosion decide whether the machine lasts five years. Fourth: check the live coupon page and the bank-offer strip before checkout, the same discipline we applied to what a ton of cooling costs at Croma, because appliance card offers here often beat the listed discount.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: all 41 room heaters in the pull, because it is August and a heater page in the middle of the cooling season would be filler rather than information - they will be worth reading in November. We dropped three of the four Crompton Energion NITEO listings, two of the three Havells Epic Underlight listings, two of the three atomberg Renesa listings and two of the three Crompton Hill Briz listings, because each set is one product in several colours at one price. We dropped the desert coolers above Rs. 12,600 and the fans above Rs. 8,500, which sit outside what most people buying cooling in August are choosing between. Nothing was dropped for being poorly rated - the 1.8-scoring Croma tower cooler is seated precisely because it is the lowest verdict on the shelf and it is not the cheapest machine on it.

What we look for

Every rating on this page carries its sample size

Sixty-nine of the 125 listings we read on 23 August 2026 have no rating at all. Of the 56 that do, most rest on fewer than twenty votes: 4.9 from eight people, 5.0 from one, 4.7 from three. A star rating printed without its count would make this shelf look thoroughly tested when it is not. So every pill here shows both numbers, and where a score rests on single figures we have said in the card that it should not be acted on. The three largest samples in the read - 40, 39 and 34 votes - are the only ones we would weigh at all.

We compare listings at the same capacity and the same price

The most useful thing this read found came from putting near-identical listings side by side. Two Croma 24-litre coolers, Rs. 500 apart, rated 4.9 from eight votes and 2.8 from 25. Three Croma coolers at exactly Rs. 5,999 against exactly Rs. 10,000, rated 4.6, 3.7 and 2.6. Comparisons like that reveal what a single listing cannot: that the scores on this shelf are not measuring the machines consistently, and that capacity and specification are the more reliable guides.

We count machines, not listings

The Crompton Energion NITEO appears four times in this pull at Rs. 3,999, the Havells Epic Underlight three times at Rs. 4,799, the atomberg Renesa three times at Rs. 3,899 and the Crompton Hill Briz three times at Rs. 1,699 - colour variants of one product each. A 42-listing fan shelf contains materially fewer than 42 fans. We seated one of each and said how many siblings it has, because knowing that changes how deep the category actually is.

We price the running cost, not just the sticker

On ceiling fans the purchase price is the smaller number. An induction motor draws roughly 70-75 watts; a 5-star BLDC draws 28-32. Run eight hours a day, that difference is around Rs. 1,100 a year at Rs. 8 a unit - which is why the Rs. 950 gap between the cheapest fan here and the cheapest BLDC closes inside one summer, and why we have flagged the cheap induction fans as guest-room purchases rather than bedroom ones. Coolers are the reverse: the running cost is trivial and the capacity decides everything.

FAQs

Is a BLDC ceiling fan worth the extra money?

On the numbers from this shelf, yes, for any room you actually use. The cheapest fan in our 23 August 2026 read is a Croma induction-motor fan at Rs. 1,549, drawing roughly 70-75 watts. The cheapest 5-star BLDC is a Crompton Energion Hyperjet at Rs. 2,499, drawing around 30. Run eight hours a day at about Rs. 8 a unit, that gap is close to Rs. 1,100 a year, so the Rs. 950 premium clears in a single summer and everything after that is saving. The exception is a room used occasionally - a guest bedroom, a store room - where the running hours never accumulate and the cheaper fan is the rational buy.

Why do three Croma air coolers at Rs. 5,999 have completely different ratings?

Because they are three different machines sold at one price point, and because the samples behind their scores are tiny. In our read, Croma listed a 50-litre mini desert cooler, a 30-litre tower with evaporative cooling and a 30-litre tower with an ice chamber, all at Rs. 5,999 against a stated Rs. 10,000, rated 4.6 from eight votes, 3.7 from eleven and 2.6 from nineteen. None of those samples is large enough to settle the question, and the disagreement between them is the point: on this shelf the score is not a reliable way to choose. Compare capacity and format instead - at the same money, the 50-litre desert unit gives roughly eight hours of running against the tower's five.

How many litres of air cooler do I need?

Roughly: a 14 to 18-litre personal or table cooler cools the person sitting in front of it and needs refilling twice a day. A 24 to 40-litre unit handles a bedroom, running about five to eight hours per fill. A 50 to 70-litre desert cooler handles a large bedroom or a small hall for a full day. Above 100 litres, as with the 105-litre Havells on this page at Rs. 12,510, you are cooling a hall or a shop. The important caveat applies to all of them: evaporative coolers work by evaporating water into the air, so they cool well in dry heat and poorly in coastal humidity, where an air conditioner or a fan is the better spend.

Are Croma's own-brand appliances any good?

On this shelf the honest answer is that they are cheap and inconsistently reviewed, and that the evidence is too thin to generalise. Croma's two cheapest personal coolers - Rs. 2,999 and Rs. 3,999 - carry the two largest positive samples in the entire read, 39 votes at 4.8 and 34 at 4.8. Its more expensive coolers carry the worst: 2.6 from 19 at Rs. 5,999 and 1.8 from 12 at Rs. 7,499. Its BLDC fan at Rs. 2,799 scores 4.2 from 15. Taken together that suggests buying the house brand at the bottom of the range, where it competes on price against nothing, and buying a specialist - Symphony for coolers, Crompton or atomberg for fans - once you are spending more than about Rs. 5,000.

Do Croma coupons work on fans and coolers?

Coupon terms change by campaign and most large-appliance offers at Croma come through bank card discounts and exchange rather than through a code, which is why the checkout total is often lower than the listed price on this category. We did not test any code at checkout for this page and will not quote a discount we have not seen applied; the live coupon page is linked above. How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, stated MRP, discount percentage, rating and vote count here was read on 23 August 2026 from Croma's own listing feed across three queries - air cooler, ceiling fan and room heater, two pages each. One hundred and twenty-five listings came back; the 41 room heaters were excluded as out of season, and the 24 seated here were chosen for price, capacity and brand spread after removing colour-variant duplicates of the same product. An MRP is the figure the listing states and we have not verified that any machine here was ever sold at it, so every discount percentage on this page is arithmetic over Croma's own two numbers rather than a measured saving. Ratings are Croma's own: 69 of the 125 listings carried none at all, and of the 56 that did, most rested on fewer than twenty votes, so no score on this page should be read as a quality ranking on its own - we have printed the vote count beside every one of them. Capacity, motor type, star ratings and features are quoted from the listings and reported rather than tested; we have not run any of these machines. Running-cost figures are our own arithmetic from the stated wattage of induction and BLDC motors at Rs. 8 per unit and eight hours a day, and will vary with your tariff and usage. Croma prices change frequently and can differ once a bank offer, exchange or coupon is applied at checkout - re-check before paying.
