Sharing underpinnings with Hyundai Venue, Kia’s upcoming QYI-Codenamed compact SUV will rival against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. The near-production model is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, Delhi

Kia Motors has started building its name in the Indian market with its quality SUV like Kia Seltos. The Seltos has been introduced recently and people can’t stop praising its overall quality and road presence. However, in a short span, the company shall be increasing the price of the Seltos that comes in the price bracket of Rs. 9.69 Lakh to Rs. 12.79 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Kia Seltos has already been placed among some prominent rivals like MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and Hyundai Creta. Now, the company aims to put up its player in the compact SUV segment. The sub-4-meter SUV codenamed QYI will be based on Hyundai Venue.

Notably, the Kia QYI compact SUV has been spotted in Delhi for the first time. Earlier, the car was seen in South Korea. So, it's pretty clear that the company might be planning to launch the pre-production model at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo. The available set of images of the camouflaged test prototype gives a clear glimpse of what we expect from a five-seater SUV.

The prototype that was earlier spotted in South Korea reveals the signature Tiger Nose grille in the front, just like all Kia vehicles. Accompanying the grille, we would see a regular headlamp set as the Hyundai venue. The front bumper shall get fog lamps and the rear comprises of a wraparound horizontal taillights. The test mule also suggests the final stage of testing with 16-inch wheels and a distinctive window line.

It is hard to believe that QYI is just a concept. Mechanically, the car is likely to get a similar engine as the Venue with the top trims to get 120 PS 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo GDI engine. They might offer both manual and automatic transmission options.

We are expecting the interiors to have a lot of differentiating factors compared to Hyundai Venue. We might get a premium feel in the QYI interiors. We would love to see the latest enhancements such as big size infotainment touchscreen system with Kia's UVO Connect, panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, and automatic climate control, and much more.
