Banaras Hindu University was established in 1916 by great nationalist leader Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya in the holy city Varanasi. The university has 3 colleges, 14 faculties, 140 departments which offers a vast range of courses in the field of Science, Humanities, technologies, medicine, fine arts and performing arts. BHU is one of the prestigious universities which was ranked overall at 10th by NIRF 2020 ranking in India.

  • As per NIRF 2020 ranking, BHU was ranked at 10th Position in India rankings and overall India, it was ranked as 9th.
  • This deemed university was ranked 801 out of 1000 in India by the QS World University Rankings 2018.

BHU: Admissions 

Admission to the undergraduate courses in the Banaras Hindu University(BHU) is usually offered based on merit in the last qualifying examination. Shortlisted candidates will then need to appear in person for the counselling round to finally confirm the seat.

Admission to all the PG courses is done through merit-basis except for MBA and MCA courses. Admission to these courses will be done based on the candidate’s performance in entrance exams like RMAT and RMCAAT followed by counselling sessions.

BHU: Results

The Banaras Hindu University(BHU) will announce the result of all the Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses only on the official website of the university. To check the result, candidates need to visit the official website of the university and enter their roll number on the result portal.

BHU: Scholarships 

This prestigious university also offers a large number of scholarships based on merit and need. The details of various types of scholarships offered by the university are given below:

  • Scholarship given to Blind Students: Under "Annadaan Yojna" of Shri Viswanath Temple every blind student gets free lunch and dinner. Every Blind student gets INR 5000/- per annum and gets financial assistance. This is available to a maximum of 20 blind students.
  • Scholarship given to Economically weaker Students: Maximum 100 students who belong to economically weaker families gets this scholarship in which they get INR 2000/- per annum.
  • Scholarships given to Physically Handicapped students: Maximum of 25 physically handicapped students gets a one-time grant of INR 4000/- for their full course tenure.
  • Scholarship given to students who are organizing Seminars/Workshops: Students who are involved in organizing Seminars/Workshops in the university get a maximum of INR 5000/- per annum if they have organized a maximum of 10 Seminars/Workshops.

BHU offers a dedicated placement cell whose responsibility to create placement opportunities for final year students in every course.

  • The average package offered was INR 32 LPA
