AJIO Umbrella Price September 2026: Rs. 299 to Rs. 1,499

We read all 36 of AJIO's umbrella listings on the morning of 28 September 2026 - logged out, in India, nothing purchased - and one thing on the shelf stops you dead.

Four listings carry the identical printed title: 'DESTINIO Windproof Strong Rain Proof Compact & Portable Umbrella'. They sell at Rs. 525, Rs. 750, Rs. 753 and Rs. 1,230. That is a 2.3x spread across four tiles whose descriptions, word for word, are the same.

The stated MRPs behind them move independently of the prices, which is where the discount badge stops making any sense at all. The Rs. 750 listing strikes through Rs. 2,999 and shows 75% off. The Rs. 753 listing - three rupees dearer - strikes through Rs. 1,299 and shows 42%. Same brand, same words, three rupees apart, and a 33-point difference in the number on the tile.

We should be careful about what this does and does not show. Identical titles do not prove identical products - these may be four genuinely different umbrellas whose listing text simply does not distinguish them, and listing several variants under one name is ordinary marketplace behaviour that breaks no rule we know of. We have not opened any of them and we allege no wrongdoing by AJIO or DESTINIO.

What it does show is practical and it is the reason this page exists: if you search 'windproof umbrella' on this shelf, the four results that look identical to you cost Rs. 525 and Rs. 1,230, and the one with the biggest percentage on it is not the cheapest. Sorting by discount would put the Rs. 750 listing above the Rs. 525 one.

Split the 36 listings into Decathlon's own range and everything else, and the shelf resolves into two clean halves that behave in opposite ways.

Decathlon's 11 listings run Rs. 479 to Rs. 1,499 with a median of Rs. 899, against a median stated MRP of Rs. 1,299 - a median badge of 31%. Its whole range sits between 23% and 47% off. That is a brand selling its own catalogue at a list price it publishes in its own stores.

The other 25 listings are cheaper - a median of Rs. 600 - while striking through a larger median stated MRP of Rs. 1,829, for a median badge of 63%. So the half of the shelf that charges Rs. 299 less at the median claims Rs. 530 more of list price. Both things are on the same page, and only one of them costs you money.

FABINALIV shows the mechanism in miniature. Three of its listings sell at exactly Rs. 439 - a plain polyester umbrella, a foldable one with a cover, and a typographic print one with a cover - and all three state exactly the same MRP of Rs. 1,829, so all three display exactly 76%. Three different umbrellas, one claimed list price.

Against that, the named-brand end of the shelf behaves conventionally: POLICE at Rs. 315 and Rs. 384 (45% and 55%), HAMLEYS at Rs. 699 (30%), Kenneth Cole at Rs. 1,399 (44%). Those are the numbers you would expect from labels that also sell through shops.

Umbrellas in India are bought as much for sun as for rain, so we counted which listings actually claim it. Eleven of the 36 titles mention UV protection, UPF or sun protection - and nine of those eleven are Decathlon listings.

Its range names specific figures: UPF50+ on two listings, UPF50 on another, plus 'ProFilter' and 'Micro Plus Profilter' variants at Rs. 711 to Rs. 999. The two non-Decathlon UV claims are a Kenneth Cole automatic golf umbrella at Rs. 1,399 and an AlexVyan travel umbrella at Rs. 779. Everything else on the shelf - including all eight DESTINIO listings and all four FABINALIV ones - claims rain protection only.

We have not tested any UPF figure and we are not endorsing one. But it is a rare case of a shelf where the specification claims and the shallow discounts sit on the same listings, and the deep discounts sit on the listings making no specification claim at all.

Buy on rupees, not percentages, and this shelf makes that unusually easy to justify. The whole range is Rs. 299 to Rs. 1,499 - it is not a purchase where getting it wrong costs much - but the percentage is actively misleading here, because the tile showing 75% is dearer than three tiles showing less.

If you want sun protection specifically, the Decathlon Inesis range at Rs. 479 to Rs. 1,499 is where nine of the shelf's eleven UPF claims are, at badges of 23% to 47% against a published list price. If you want the cheapest functioning umbrella, the floor is a POLICE print umbrella at Rs. 315 and a decorative one at Rs. 299.
