XAT Application Process is the prefatory step towards applying for XLRI and associate Institutes. Registration process started in the month of August 23, 2019 and extended upto November 30, 2019. XAT 2020 was conducted on January 5, 2020.

XLRI has been conducting the exam for more than 60 years now annually and over 75,000 aspirants appear for the aptitude test. 164 B-Schools in India are open to XAT 2020, some of the top institutes that accept aptitude scores are, XLRI Jamshedpur, S P Jain Mumbai, XIM Bhubaneswar, MICA Ahmedabad and IMT Ghaziabad.

Exam Pattern for Xavier's Aptitude Test comprises four sections: Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation, Verbal and Logical Ability, Decision Making and General Knowledge.

XAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria

XAT exam officials have laid down a set of eligibility criteria that all applicants must meet in order to sit for the exam. Candidates will not be allowed to register for the exam if all eligibility criteria are not met. XAT 2020 eligibility criteria include academic qualifications, age limits and other requirements to be met. The full details of the eligibility criteria for XAT 2020 is as follows:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s or a graduate degree in any stream from a recognized university or college.
  • Completed graduation degree must have been for at least three years.
  • Candidates who are yet to sit for the final year examinations in bachelors or are waiting for their final year results to be released can also register for the exam.
  • There is no cut off percentage-wise that candidates must have in their graduate degrees.
  • There is also no age limit for the candidates to have.

XAT 2020 application form has an additional option to choose the XLRI program of choice from the Application form itself. All XLRI programmes will have different eligibility criteria to meet and must be checked from the college website individually.

XAT 2020 Registration Process

XLRI had made the XAT 2020 Registration Process easy by creating a portal for new candidates to register and helped them to apply for the exam. The XAT 2020 registration process is entirely online, and there is no offline method to register. The registration process is as follows:

  1. Login into the official XAT website, xatonline.in to start the registration process.
  2. Navigate to the ‘New Candidate’s Registration’ link to start creating a new account.
  3. Create a new account and submit a valid email id. Registration Id and Password will be sent to this email id.

Once an account has been created on the XAT portal, the next step is to start applying for the exam itself. The application process for the exam is as follows:

Step 1: The first step in the application process is to start entering details for the exam application. Once an account has been created, login to the portal using the newly created ID and password.

Step 2: Scan and upload a recent photograph and a signature. The documents must be of appropriate size and dimensions in order to be successfully uploaded.

Step 3: Select citizenship from the option given. Select the program. This is an optional step and can be skipped if one wishes to study in a non-XLRI institute.

Step 4: Enter essential data like name, date of birth, gender and contact details. An active phone number must be given for communication purposes.

Step 5: Enter all educational qualifications. Class 10th, 12th, graduation and post-graduation (if available) data must be submitted. This is a necessary step in order to judge eligibility.

If the candidate has any prior work experience that too must be entered.

Step 6: Pay the application fee. Payment can be made using net banking, debit cards and credit cards.

How to Retrieve a Forgotten Password for XAT 2020?

XAT will aid you to retrieve a forgotten password. Followings steps need to be followed:

  1. Click on the link provided and click on the “Forgot Password” tab.
  2. Enter the registered email id and Phone Number.
  3. Click on Get new password 
  4. XAT 2020 Registration ID and password will be mailed to you.

XAT 2020 Registration - Points to Remember in Online Mode

  • At the end of the XAT 2020 Registration, students were directed to the payment gateway.
  • They could make the XAT 2020 Registration payment using Debit Cards (Rupay/ Visa/ Master Card/ Maestro) Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards/ Mobile Wallets.
  • Do not press back or refresh the button while submitting the payment information to avoid paying double.
  • On completion of the transaction, an e-receipt will be generated.
  • Candidates are required to make a hard copy of XAT 2020 registration form and e-receipt.
  • If the e-receipt is not generated, it will be because of the unsuccessful payment of failure.
  • Before registering, however, it is important to note that the registration portal is recommended to be opened in certain browsers only. To make sure the registration process is hassle-free, open the website either in one of the following:
  1. Google Chrome (Version 50 and above recommended)
  2. Internet Explorer (Version 11 recommended)
  3. Mozilla Firefox (Version 50 and above recommended

Points to be reviewed while filling the Application Form

You should consider the following points while filling the XAT 2020 registration form.

  • Candidates cannot login before completing the entire registration process.
  • There is no provision of making any changes in the registration form, once it is submitted.
  • The photograph and signature specification should be followed carefully, otherwise it will not get uploaded.
  • Candidates must keep all the documents handy for a hassle-free procedure.
  • Exam center preference can be edited only once.

How to choose the XAT Exam Centre?

Choosing the exam centre is a part of the XAT 2020 registration process. Once an account is created, filling up the application form is done next. The application form will have the option to choose the exam centre. Candidates can choose up to two exam centres in order of preference. Applicants are advised to choose the exam centres closest to them to avoid any delays in travel during exam day.

The chosen exam centre can be changed only once later and before a specific deadline only. The final exam centre will be displayed in the admit card of the candidate. Centres will be allotted on the basis of the preference indicated by the candidates in the application form.

How to Change XAT Exam Centre?

Candidates are given a one-time opportunity to change the exam centre. However, the change can be done upto a certain time period. For XAT 2020, the time deadline to change the XAT exam centre was November 30, 2019. Candidates can change the XAT exam centre by emailing xat2020 @ xlri.ac.in informing them about the request to do so. Be sure to mention the XAT id, chosen city, new chosen city, date of birth and more details.
