Since the examination is conducted in multiple shifts involving different question papers, the scores from each test will be normalized by using a common scale. This is carried out in order to remove the discrepancies in difficulty levels if any. The scores will be normalized using a statistical method where the scores across different test forms are converted into percentiles and the percentile of two different test forms are considered equivalent. The statistical process VIT uses is referred to as “Equi-Percentile Equating Method’.
Since VITEEE exams are conducted in different slots of a day, hence, for adjusting the scores of the candidates, the universities follow the equating methodology.
On the basis of the marks secured by the candidates, a rank list will be published by the authorities. The students can check their rank published along with the scores. Candidates will also be intimated about the ranks through SMS at the registered number.
VITEEE merit list is a unique rank, which is allotted to the aspirants when they go for the counselling session. VITEEE merit list 2020 will be published or will be seen only after the VITEEE 2020 result declaration. The list will be displayed in a descending manner. Therefore, the top-ranked candidates will find their names at the top position of the list. Consequently, at the below position, the low ranked candidates will be listed, who will get less percentile. The candidates will be notified about their ranks through SMS to the registered mobile number.
There is no official cut off declared by VIT. More specifically, VITEEE closing ranks are usually considered by the institutions (which offer undergraduate courses for B.Tech degree) as their cut off marks. In order to be eligible for admission, students must get a higher rank. The rank will be decided by the marks scored by them in the examination. The counselling is conducted in two phases. Generally, the candidates ranked up to 20000, are called for phase 1 counselling. A score of 81-90 can be considered safe for being eligible for admission. Apart from this, both the campus wise closing and streamwise rankings are published by the University.
The following table represents the expected VITEEE 2020 Result cut off based on the previous year score:
