Eleven of those rows showed a 99 per cent discount, and in every single one the stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price - Rs. 1,599 against Rs. 1,59,900, Rs. 2,200 against Rs. 2,20,000. That is a decimal error in the listing data rather than a deal, and it appears across five different brands including a Bosch listing, so it is not a signal about the seller. At the other end of the wall the pattern inverts: the most-rated screwdriver set in the read, with 23,775 ratings, is six per cent off, and the largest crowd of all, 27,402 votes on a Bosch bit set, sits on a 28 per cent badge. In between sit the drills people actually buy, where the useful distinction is not the discount but whether a machine is an impact drill, a drill driver or a rotary hammer. Twelve rows claim exactly Rs. 799: the cheapest sells at Rs. 243 with a 70 per cent badge and the dearest sells at Rs. 799 with no discount at all. Thirteen rows claim exactly Rs. 1,499, running from a Rs. 349 cotton T-shirt to an H&M sweatshirt charging the claimed number exactly. Four POSHIKHA dresses that are visibly different garments all sell at Rs. 998 against a stated Rs. 2,999. The brands that hold their prices are the ones with shops - all three H&M rows sit at zero per cent, Pantaloons Junior's median badge is twelve and Marks & Spencer's is twenty-five - while the deepest badges we found belong to sellers with no shop and, usually, no ratings. We read 34 Myntra saree listings on August 10, 2026 from the retailer's own listing data and seated 21. The discount column on this shelf has stopped separating anything: nineteen of the 21 sarees here are between 68 and 89 per cent off, and the median badge across all 34 rows was 73 per cent. Over the same listings the Myntra rating runs from 1.8 to 4.6 and the sample behind it from eight people to 8,481, which makes it the only column still carrying information. The clearest pair on the page costs a rupee apart: a KALINI saree at Rs. 460 with 8,481 ratings at 4.3, and a Moda Rapido saree at Rs. 459 with 752 ratings at 3.4 - and the badge ranks the second one higher, at 82 per cent against 74. In this category the discount runs opposite to the evidence. The most-rated listing in the whole read is a Jockey combed cotton brief at Rs. 209 with 52,973 ratings at 4.5, and it is not on sale at all - every one of Jockey's six rows sits at zero per cent off. Levi's, U.S. Polo Assn., DAMENSCH and Pepe Jeans all carry five-figure rating counts and badges between 17 and 31 per cent. The deepest badges on the shelf belong to lingerie labels with no rating history whatsoever: 78 per cent from LUXIORA on zero votes, 70 per cent across all six Mumchief rows on zero votes, and sixteen LoveAasan listings of which thirteen sit at exactly Rs. 758. We read 227 AJIO men's T-shirt, polo and casual-shirt listings on August 10, 2026 from the retailer's own search API and seated 22. The discount here belongs to a promotion slot rather than to a product or even a brand. Nine listings from four unrelated labels - TOGS & TERRE, Alpha Tribe, NEONOMAD and Buda Jeans Co - all sell at exactly Rs. 285 against exactly Rs. 1,499 at exactly 81 per cent, and within that group a polo with a collar and a placket costs the same as a plain crew-neck tee. Three further slots behave identically: five listings at Rs. 280 against Rs. 999 at 72 per cent, six at Rs. 356 against Rs. 699 at 49, and six at Rs. 425 against Rs. 599 at 29. The finding is that the size of the badge tracks the size of the claim behind it rather than the size of the saving. The twelve listings badged 70 per cent or more carry a median stated MRP of Rs. 5,999 and a median review count of 410; the twenty-six badged 35 per cent or less carry a median stated MRP of Rs. 1,074 and a median review count of 1,956 - and both groups sell for roughly the same money. The largest claim we found was Rs. 9,099, on a Red Tape shoe selling at Rs. 1,410 with two ratings behind it; the most-rated shoe in the read is a Rs. 569 ASIAN running shoe with 112,075 ratings, badged 43 per cent. Nike, which has stores to protect, never let a badge past 30 per cent across six listings. Nineteen of the 175 listings we read have fewer than ten reviews in total. Twenty picks, Rs. 349 to Rs. 3,983.

We read 49 Vijay Sales listings on August 9, 2026 from the retailer's own category pages and seated 17 televisions. Three laptops the pull returned were dropped rather than seated on a television page. Seven 32-inch sets sit inside a Rs. 3,600 window - Rs. 13,490 to Rs. 17,090 - and their badges run from 21 to 43 per cent. At the other end, the phone with the largest rating sample in the read, 3,176 votes at 4.1, is discounted 13 per cent, and the highest-scoring phone with a real sample, 4.4 from 531, is discounted 14. The badge is being set by the stated MRP, and the stated MRP is being calculated from the selling price rather than remembered: one phone's 64GB and 128GB trims are priced Rs. 1,000 apart and claim list prices Rs. 1,000 apart.
