Back in 2013, Hyundai introduced the Grand i10 to the Indian market that offers the most lucrative package in its segment. Well, with such package offerings, the prices were obviously aggressive. Hyundai also managed to build a reliable after-sales network. Now, with the facelift, the 2020 Hyundai Grand i10 has entered into a new era of fresh technology and new rivals like Tata Tiago, Maruti Suzuki Swift, and Volkswagen Polo.
As part of the 2017 upgrade, the predecessor Grand i10 model did get some exterior tweaks alongside some interior refinement. And now with this 2020 facelift surely makes the 2020 Hyundai Grand i10 the best buy in its segment. While there are not many changes in the exterior design, there are significant improvements in the feature list. Most of the refinements are limited to the top trim. The new Grand i10 offers petrol engines built on BS6 norms.

*The data above reveals that the Hyundai Grand i10 has the fastest acceleration among the lot.
The Hyundai Grand i10 has a suspension tuned for city commuting. The suspension not so stiff or soft, it's just normal. The best part of the suspension is that it works noiselessly, letting in only the harshest of bumps inside. Hyundai Grand i10 gets benefitted with the low engine noise and vibrations, making the cabin silent and delightful.
The steering is light and responsive to use and combined with the tight turning radius makes the Grand i10 a beautiful city commuting car. Out on the highway, the light steering is not so amazing but the suspension and brakes (backed by ABS) are always there for the rescue.
The braking offered by Grand i10 is quite impressive. The car comes with front disc brakes and rear drum options. The brakes offer a good bite while cornering or urgent braking at a shorter distance. On the top variant, Sportz, Hyundai offers one of the most advanced anti-lock braking system, which further trims down the stopping distance.

With a fuel-efficient engine, the Grand i10 returns a mileage of 19.77 kmpl in city conditions. It also holds a decent fuel tank capacity of 43 litres. The light design philosophy is also the main reason for such fuel efficiency. With the facelift, Hyundai has cut down unnecessary weight from the car. However, Tata Tiago is a clear winner in this aspect with a mileage of 23.84 kmpl.

The Hyundai Grand i10 was always basic in design but carried out things pretty smart. With the facelift, the Grand i10 carries away Hyundai's new design philosophy.
The front fascia comes with a new ‘cascading grille’ design, a reworked upper grille and a redesigned bumper with new fog-lamp surrounds and the all-new LED DRLs. As you move to the side, the only subtle change done is the redesigned 14-inch alloy wheels.
On the rear profile, there’s a new bumper which includes a large black insert with circular reflectors. The new rear bumper design opens doors for fresh arguments - the pre-facelift model looked better than the facelift.

Step inside and the cabin and you'll be welcomed with an airy and premium offering. Be it the seat covers, dashboard or doors, the buttons, and touchscreen - everything offers a feel-good factor. Hyundai has however not completely changed the design inside; you still get the dual-tone theme, four large circular AC vents around the dashboard, a deep-set instrument cluster, a three-spoke steering wheel with large multi-function buttons and the high-mounted gear-shift lever. The centre console gets two new additions - a large 7.0-inch touchscreen and a fully-automatic climate control console.
While the screen is well integrated, the buttons surrounding it appears to be designed in a lazy way. The buttons give the same feel as the previous non-touch infotainment system. The climate control console surely is the biggest update this time, keeping the Grand i10 in line with the rivals.
The cushioning for front seats are comfortable yet not so soft or hard. The seats are designed such a wat that it gives a snug feeling. The driver seat comes with height adjust gear. The integrated headrests are bliss otherwise don't expect anything premium on the Hyundai Grand i10 interior.
Rear seat passengers gonna love Grand i10 for using two-seater for a comfortable trip. The cabin is wide enough to accommodate three passengers comfortably. Thre's also gets a slightly raised centre tunnel and the rear AC vent console curb room for the centre passenger as well. We found that there's adequate space for leg and knee for passengers. Even tall passengers get ample headroom. For convenience, the rear bench can be folded down to add more space.
Some of the highlighted interior features of the 2020 Hyundai Grand i10 are:

This offers smartphone connectivity via MirrorLink and also comes with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility for extra convenience. The Grand i10 is also offered with a rear parking camera with guided-display synced with the new infotainment.
The Hyundai Grand i10 is a blessed hatchback that offers seamless smartphone connectivity. It also surprises well with its responsive touchscreen. The infotainment system is too smooth to response to steering-mounted controls. With the smartphone connectivity onboard, the new Grand i10 also gets voice command for the infotainment system.

The VW Polo offers a boot space of 280 litres which is maximum among the competition.
The Grand i10 is loaded with a hefty amount of safety features. Some of the important safety features are limited to the top Sportz trim level. Otherwise, the base trim gets basic features and that is quite disappointing.
Few safety features of the 2020 Hyundai Grand i10 are:
Immobilizer
Central Locking
Front Fog Lamps
Day & Night Inside Rear View Mirror
Keyless Entry Standard
Parking Assist
Rear Parking Sensors
Rear Camera with display on Audio

The Swift and the Grand i10 have always been fierce rivals and it looks like the South Korean automaker’s hatchback will be hoping to bite into the aging Swift’s sale until the new model arrives. With the introduction of a new 74bhp, 1.2-litre diesel engine in place of the 1.1-litre, the difference between the powertrain of these two cars narrowed down further. The 1.3-litre diesel in the Swift produces identical 74bhp. The Swift, however, misses out on automatic transmission and is slightly more expensive than the Grand i10.
Hyundai Elite i20 surely has more power and punch in the engine department and is also more spacious than the VW Polo. It also comes with better features and safety package. But the Polo fights back with its better overall cabin quality and superior driving dynamics.
Hyundai Grand i10 is a pleasant car to drive around the city. With the smooth transmission offered by its 1.2-litre petrol engine. The manual gearbox is so smooth that it never makes you feel like driving a manual transmission car. The Grand i10 is a practical and comfortable car. It is one of Hyundai’s best selling car in the hatch segment just for the delight it offers as a full-fledged bundle.
