Best TV Series on Amazon Prime Video

In India, where a Prime membership runs at just Rs. 999 per year. If you were forced to choose in a fight between Amazon Prime vs Netflix, and you have ended up choosing Amazon Prime hastily. I’m here to support your step. If you subscribed to Prime just for the shows and movies, there’s not a huge difference between the two services - but Amazon Video does give you the option to pay for new films/shows a la carte, which is a nice option. Also, I have rounded up some of the best TV shows on Amazon Prime Video here for your perusal.

1. Mirzapur

amazon prime offersMirzapur definitely hits the list, being the most watched Prime original since inception. This famous thriller crime story has many famous stars as their cast including Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Vikrant Massey. Mirzapur’s trite narrative template undermines its ambition to be the web's answer to Gangs of Wasseypur. This Amazon Prime original gets you interested but leaves you wanting with its abysmal cast line-up and elevated gangster saga. I strongly recommend Mirzapur, for its portrayal of stringent rivalry and real Indian political system.

2. Jack Ryan

Jack Ryan is a show that doesn't refrain from showing the human sides and the moral positions of the countries, characters, and people in question. Tom Clancy’s “Ryanverse” franchise makes the leap from film to television with this spy thriller that premiered in 2018 and casts John Krasinski as the titular CIA analyst. This Amazon original series has published two acclaimed seasons lately, with the third one coming up soon.

3. The Office (2005-2013)

On March 24, 2005, the whole world met Michael Scott (and Dwight Schrute). Dwight Schrute once said, “Through concentration, I can raise and lower my cholesterol at will.”  Well, I think that the whole universe goes mad when he says this. The Office displays the hilarious workplace spoof filled with mature humor. Hotstar has started streaming the Indian remake of cult TV series The Office. I was laughing during “The Office” finale, and then I cried during “The Office” finale. And yeah, maybe that’s all you want from a finale: emotion and closure.

4. Made In Heaven

Gully Boy duo Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, serves an ecstatic-drama about the surplus, hypocrisies, and darkness that endures in disguise of big, fat Indian weddings where tradition jostles modern ambitions. The story is told through the eyes of two wedding planners trying to balance their personal and professional lives. Despite many faults,Made in Heaven is the best of what Amazon has produced in India.

5. Good Omens

The series’ impressive cast is filled out by Jon Hamm, Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson, Adria Arjona, Nick Offerman, Jack Whitehall, and other familiar faces. Having grown content with life on Earth, the two try to prevent an approaching doomsday.

Though Good Omens leaps around with creative space, the main story is the birth of the antichrist 11 years ago and how, through a series of "human" errors, the plan to switch the baby of an American ambassador (Nick Offerman) with said antichrist goes haywire.

6. Sneaky Pete

Suspenseful, smart, and terrifically cast, Sneaky Pete is part dramedy, part crime caper, and all in all entertaining. A slow starter, with an engrossing storyline and interesting trail of characters, Sneaky Pete ends up drooling you over. What initially looks like a relatively straight-line crime drama turns into an Etch-a-Sketch full of intersecting zigzags. Sneaky Pete is counted amongst the clever writings in Amazon Prime. That's why it is listed in the list of best TV Shows on Amazon Prime. Watch Sneaky Pete episodes online at Amazon prime now.

9. Comicstaan

A nine episode series that brings together Biswa Kalyan Rath, Tanmay Bhat, Sapan Verma, Kaneez Surka, Kanan Gill, Kenny Sebastian and Naveen Richard to find the next big name in stand-up comedy. The amazing TV show has had two seasons so far, while Comicstaan's first season was thought-provoking and new, the second instalment seems lacklustre at best. Hosted by Abish and Sumukhi, watch Comicstaan to find out who gets crowned as the future competition to some of these big names in stand-up comedy.

10. The Affair

With a startling portrayal of an affair in its most intense, profoundly-taxing, emotionally draining, disgraceful reality, The Affair is an American television drama series created by Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi. A schoolteacher and budding novelist begin an extramarital affair with a young waitress trying to piece together her life in this sombre drama, delivering two strong seasons of deep and psychological observation. The US drama exploring relationships lost its way in the third season – but this first episode of its fourth run offers plenty of humour and potential.
