Nykaa Lipstick Offers August 2026: Bestseller Prices and Ratings

A Dot & Key SPF 50+ sunscreen from Nykaa's August 2026 sun-care shelf
Zoutons Picks — Nykaa Shampoo, Sunscreen & Lipstick, August 2026

41 Nykaa listings read on August 6, carrying 16,560,222 ratings between them - the largest evidence base we have measured on any Indian shelf. Every score lands between 4.1 and 4.8, and three-quarters of the shelf is either a 4.3 or a 4.4.

Prices & codes last verified August 6, 2026

Most Indian shelves we read this month failed on evidence: Croma prints stars with no sample size, AJIO prints no stars at all, and Tata CLiQ's luggage aisle tops out at thirteen ratings a product. Nykaa is the opposite case, and it is worth taking seriously. On August 6, 2026 we read 41 live listings across shampoo, sunscreen and lipstick, every one carrying a rating and a count, and those 41 products hold 16,560,222 ratings between them - a single lipstick accounts for 4,278,969 of them. That is the deepest crowd evidence we have measured anywhere in Indian retail. What it buys a shopper is close to nothing. Every score on the shelf sits between 4.1 and 4.8, thirty-eight of the 41 sit between 4.2 and 4.5, and thirty-one are exactly 4.3 or 4.4. Six sunscreens priced from Rs. 359 to Rs. 581 all land on 4.3 or 4.4; a Rs. 4,185 Redken pair scores what a Rs. 399 WishCare bottle scores. The problem is no longer that nobody has voted - it is that a shelf which shows only its winners has compressed four million opinions into a scale seven-tenths of a star wide. We reported the opposite failure at Tata CLiQ earlier this month; this page is what the other end of the spectrum looks like, and it is not much more useful.

Every price below was pulled from Nykaa on August 6, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Nykaa coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

How to shop a shelf where every score is the same

First: stop sorting by rating. On this shelf it separates almost nothing, and the few listings that break out of the 4.2-4.5 band do so because their samples are tiny. Second: use the count as a filter rather than the score - anything above about fifty thousand ratings on this page is a product that has survived contact with a mass audience, and that is a real, if blunt, piece of information. Third: once a group of products passes that filter, decide on price, on the numbers actually printed on the bottle (SPF and PA rating, volume in millilitres, whether a listing is one product or two), and on texture preferences you already know about yourself. Chapter Three is the worked example: six sunscreens the ratings cannot separate, a 62 per cent price spread, and one of them stating PA+++ where the rest state PA++++. Fourth: expect shallow discounts. The median badge here is 10 per cent, the stated MRPs are largely credible, and waiting for a 40 per cent drop outside the lipstick aisle is mostly waiting. Bank and card offers that stack on the prices below are on our Nykaa coupons page.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: 19 of the 41 listings. Most were mid-table shampoos and sunscreens sitting at 4.3 or 4.4 on samples between 10,000 and 100,000 - the Matrix, Schwarzkopf, Love Beauty & Planet and Cetaphil rows among them - which is precisely the point of the page and therefore adds nothing to seat individually; they are all counted in every aisle statistic quoted here. We also left out several Nykaa-brand lipstick shades that duplicate a seated listing in a different colour, because a page arguing that the scores are indistinguishable should not pad itself with the same product four times. Two Deconstruct sunscreens at Rs. 379 were passed for the same reason - they are the same formula at two PA ratings, and one comparison of that kind (the Dot & Key pair) is enough. Nothing was excluded for scoring badly. The lowest score on the shelf is a 4.1 and it is seated in Chapter Two, because on a shelf this compressed the floor is as informative as the ceiling, which is to say barely.

What we look for

41 listings read, every one of them with a rating and a count

On August 6, 2026 we read 41 live listings from nykaa.com across three queries - shampoo, sunscreen and lipstick - keeping every row that returned a selling price, a stated MRP, a star rating and a rating count. All 41 returned all four, which almost never happens: on the Indian shelves we have read this month, Croma publishes no counts at all and AJIO publishes no ratings at all. Nykaa publishes both on everything, and the counts are of a completely different order of magnitude from anything else we have measured - 16,560,222 ratings across 41 products. That is what makes this shelf worth examining properly rather than complaining about, and every figure below is Nykaa's own as it displayed that afternoon.

The scores were checked for range before they were used

The finding is that these enormous samples produce almost no discrimination. Every score on the shelf sits between 4.1 and 4.8. Thirty-eight of the 41 sit between 4.2 and 4.5. Thirty-one - three-quarters of the shelf - are exactly 4.3 or 4.4. A shopper sorting by rating on this page is sorting on a scale seven-tenths of a star wide, most of which is occupied by two adjacent values. The compression is not caused by thin evidence, which is the usual explanation and the one we have reported on other retailers; it survives at four million votes. A listing with 4,278,969 ratings and a listing with 7,372 both land on 4.3.

Extremes were traced back to their sample sizes

Where scores do move, we checked what is behind them. The three most extreme numbers on the shelf are a 4.8, a 4.6 and a 4.1 - the highest, second-highest and lowest - and they rest on 1,362, 38 and 86 ratings respectively. All three are among the shelf's five smallest samples. That is the arithmetic of small numbers rather than a discovery about products: a handful of voters cannot average away one strong opinion, so thin samples drift outward while large ones converge. Every seat on this page prints its count immediately beside its score for that reason, and the chapter built on thin samples says so in its heading rather than in a footnote.

Prices and stated MRPs were read as a separate question

Discounting is independent of rating evidence and this page keeps the two apart. The median badge across all 41 listings is 10 per cent, 24 of them sit at 11 per cent or lower, and only four reach 40 per cent - all four in the lipstick aisle. Unlike the luggage and electronics shelves we have read, the stated MRPs here are largely credible: a Rs. 229 sticker on a Rs. 206 lipstick and a Rs. 445 sticker on a Rs. 396 sunscreen behave like real reference prices rather than invented ones, which is the honest reason the badges are shallow. So a reader who distrusts every star on this page can still use its price comparisons, and those comparisons are the practical content of Chapters Three and Four. We have not used any product here; every claim about formulation, SPF testing or wear time is the listing's own.

FAQs

If every product is rated 4.3, how do I choose between them?

Use the count as a filter and then stop using the ratings entirely. On this shelf, anything above roughly fifty thousand ratings has been bought and judged by a mass audience, and that fact alone rules out the two failure modes ratings are actually good at catching: products that arrive broken and products that nobody has tried. Once several candidates clear that bar - as all six sunscreens in Chapter Three do - the score has no remaining information in it, because they are all 4.3 or 4.4. At that point the decision is made on things that are printed and checkable: price, volume in millilitres, SPF and PA rating, whether a listing is one product or a combo, and the ingredient percentages brands like Minimalist publish in full. After that it is texture and finish, which no number on any retail page can tell you and which you learn by trying a small size.

Are Nykaa's ratings trustworthy given how similar they all are?

We found no reason to distrust them, and a straightforward explanation for the compression. A retailer's catalogue is not a random sample of all products - it is a curated shelf, weighted towards things that sell, and products that consistently disappoint tend to stop being stocked. So the visible distribution is the top of the range with the bottom cut off, which compresses everything into the low fours. You can see the same effect on the biggest global marketplaces. The specific evidence on this page supports that reading rather than anything worse: the compression holds at every sample size, including four million ratings, and the only scores that escape the 4.2-4.5 band sit on 38, 86 and 1,362 votes - exactly where statistical noise would put them. What the ratings cannot do is rank products that have all already passed. That is a limitation of the format, not a sign of manipulation.

Which sunscreen on Nykaa is the best buy right now?

On the shelf's own evidence, none of the six in Chapter Three can be shown to beat the others, so the rational choice is the cheapest one with a large sample: the Minimalist SPF 50 PA++++ at Rs. 359 with 158,215 ratings. If you want a specific finish, that is the only thing worth paying more for - the Re'equil Ultra Matte at Rs. 581 has a real following among people with oily skin who dislike how most sunscreen sits, and the Dot & Key Watermelon at Rs. 396 is built around a cooling aqua-gel texture. Read the PA rating before you buy: the Plum at Rs. 378 states PA+++ where the others state PA++++, a difference in claimed UVA protection that matters more than any tenth of a star on this page. And note that the Supergoop stick at Rs. 2,570 carries 38 ratings, so its 4.6 tells you nothing at all - buy that one for the reapply-over-makeup format if you want it, at full awareness of the price.

Why are the discounts on Nykaa so much smaller than on other sites?

Because the stated MRPs are mostly real. The median badge across our 41 listings is 10 per cent and 24 of them sit at 11 per cent or lower - but look at the underlying numbers and the reason is visible: a Rs. 206 lipstick stating Rs. 229, a Rs. 396 sunscreen stating Rs. 445, a Rs. 1,093 shampoo stating Rs. 1,150. Those are gaps of tens of rupees, which is what an actual maximum retail price looks like. Compare a luggage shelf where a Rs. 2,999 trolley states Rs. 15,995 and prints an 81 per cent badge. The arithmetic is honest in both cases; only one of them starts from a credible reference figure. The practical consequence is that on Nykaa the selling price is close to the whole story and a shallow badge is not a bad deal - and that waiting for a deep discount outside the mass-market lipstick aisle, where the only four 40 per cent badges in our pull sit, is mostly waiting for nothing.

Is a shampoo with four million ratings better than one with 7,000?

It is better evidenced, which is not the same thing, and on this shelf the distinction matters more than usual. A large count tells you a product works acceptably for a very wide range of people - useful information, and the reason we would steer a first-time buyer towards the TRESemme at Rs. 822 with 536,346 ratings over an unfamiliar name. What it cannot tell you is whether the product is right for your hair specifically, and mass-market products earn their enormous counts partly by being formulated for the broadest possible audience. A specialist line with 7,000 ratings may be considerably better for chemically straightened or bleached hair precisely because it was not designed for everybody - which is the honest argument for the L'Oreal Professionnel X-Tenso Care at Rs. 2,223 or the Redken pair at Rs. 4,185. Neither of those arguments is visible in a star rating, and on this page neither product's score differs from the cheap one by more than a tenth.

More Nykaa coverage on Zoutons

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, stated MRP, discount percentage, star rating and rating count here was read from nykaa.com on August 6, 2026, across three queries - shampoo, sunscreen and lipstick - and every aggregate figure on this page is computed from the resulting 41 listings as they displayed that afternoon. Nykaa's prices and promotions change frequently; nothing here is guaranteed to persist. The central finding - that 41 listings carry 16,560,222 ratings between them, that every score sits between 4.1 and 4.8, that 38 of the 41 sit between 4.2 and 4.5 and 31 are exactly 4.3 or 4.4, and that the shelf's highest, second-highest and lowest scores rest on 1,362, 38 and 86 ratings respectively - is a description of how those listings displayed on that day. It is not a claim about units sold, which rating counts do not measure. It is not an allegation that any rating has been manipulated: score compression of this kind is the expected result of a curated shelf that lists mainly successful products, and we have no evidence of anything else. It is not a claim that any product here is good or bad, and we have deliberately declined to rank the sunscreens in Chapter Three by score. Nykaa's decision to publish counts on every listing puts it well ahead of most Indian retailers whose shelves we have read. A stated MRP is a seller's reference figure; on this shelf they are unusually credible and we have said so. Every specification quoted - SPF and PA ratings, in-vivo testing claims, volumes, actives and their percentages, wear-time claims - is the seller's listing claim, reported as a claim and not verified by us. We have not applied, worn or otherwise tested any product on this page.
