Croma Monsoon Appliances 2026: What Drying Clothes Costs

Croma monsoon appliance collage August 2026 - the IFB TURBO DRY 5.5 kg clothes dryer, the Croma 10/6 kg front load washer dryer, the Origin O12i room dehumidifier and a Xiaomi handheld garment steamer
Zoutons Picks — Croma Monsoon Aisle, August 2026

Sorted by discount, Croma's monsoon aisle runs exactly backwards - the appliances that fix damp are the ones nobody discounts and nobody has rated. Twenty-four picks.

Prices & codes last verified August 4, 2026

The short of it Croma's own catalogue, 165 listings read on August 4. Rs. 22,490 is the floor for a machine that dries clothes. All 12 dehumidifiers come from one supplier group at a median 4 per cent off. One washer-dryer in five prints the number that says what it really dries in a run. The Rs. 9,490 semi-automatic is the answer for most budgets.

August is the month the drying rack stops working. So we went at Croma's catalogue with one question - what does it cost to get clothes and rooms dry without sun - and ran eight category queries against the retailer's own API on August 4, 2026: washing machines, clothes dryers, tumble dryer, washer dryer, dehumidifiers, garment steamers, air purifiers and dryers. That returned 165 deduplicated listings with a price, a stated MRP and an image. The first thing worth knowing is a search problem: type dryers into Croma and you get hair dryers, 36 of them at a median Rs. 1,624. The machines that dry clothes live elsewhere and start at Rs. 22,490. The second thing is the shape of the whole aisle. Ranked by median discount it runs dehumidifiers 4 per cent, washing machines 19, air purifiers 22, washer-dryers 23, clothes dryers and garment steamers 28, hair dryers 36 - which is almost exactly inverse to how completely each category solves a wet-season problem. The deepest discounts in this aisle sit on the appliance that works on clothes after they are already dry. The dehumidifier rack is the extreme case and the most interesting one. Twelve listings, every single one from Origin or its Novita line, a median price of Rs. 32,725, a median discount of 4 per cent, and the smallest badge in all 165 listings - 2 per cent off a Rs. 74,700 machine. Ten of the twelve publish no rating. And there is a hole in the middle of it: below Rs. 2,500 you can buy a rechargeable desiccant box for a wardrobe, above Rs. 22,500 you can buy a machine that dries a room, and Croma sells nothing in between. The rating picture compounds all of it. Croma publishes an average with no review count, so a 5.0 here may be one happy buyer, and coverage collapses exactly where the money is: 19 of the 24 dryer and washer-dryer listings and 10 of the 12 dehumidifiers carry no rating at all. Our July read on what a star rating without a count is worth goes into that in full, the things Croma does not discount covers the same inversion in other aisles, and the cooling read from July is the seasonal companion to this one. We have not used or tested any appliance here.

Every price below was pulled from Croma on August 4, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Croma coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

Five rules for buying a drying appliance in August

First: work out whether your problem is wet clothes or a wet room, because Croma sells very different answers to each and files them nowhere near one another. Wet clothes means a dryer or a washer-dryer, from Rs. 22,490. A wet room - the cupboard smell, the mould on leather, the walls - means a dehumidifier, from Rs. 22,500 for anything that treats an actual room. A room dehumidifier will also speed up indoor line-drying considerably, which makes it the more flexible purchase for a flat with no dryer plumbing, though nothing on any listing tells you that and we have not tested it. Second: on a washer-dryer, hunt for the third number. One listing here prints 9/6/3 kg, and that 3 kg is the load the machine will take in dirty and hand back dry in one uninterrupted run. Every other combo on this page obeys the same physics whether or not its title admits it, so a 10/6 kg machine is not a 10 kg dry. Third: treat Croma's ratings as directional and never decisive, because the site publishes an average with no review count - the same problem we set out in our July read on stars without counts. A 5.0 and a 1.0 appear on this page and we can weigh neither. Fourth: read the stated MRP as a reference figure rather than a price anyone paid, which is the lesson of the biggest MRP carrying the deepest badge. The 52 per cent Electrolux here is a good machine at Rs. 44,994; whether Rs. 93,990 was ever the real price is unknowable from the listing, so compare it against the Rs. 37,994 Croma and the Rs. 42,494 IFB instead. Fifth, and most practically: before you spend twenty thousand rupees on drying, spend nine and a half on spinning. A semi-automatic wrings clothes harder than most top loaders, and a second spin cycle is the cheapest drying assistance in this entire read - which is why the Rs. 9,490 machine in chapter five is the honest recommendation on a page nominally about dryers.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: 141 of the 165 listings. The whole air-purifier category, 29 listings at a median Rs. 18,899 and 22 per cent off, is described in the methodology and seated nowhere - purifiers address particulates rather than moisture, and folding them in would have blurred the question this page asks. The 36 hair dryers are in the read for one reason, which is that they are what Croma returns when you search dryers, and we have made that point without seating any of them. On the washing-machine side we left out 39 of 42, including the entire front-load rack from Rs. 24,999 upward and the LG and Bosch machines at Rs. 33,990 to Rs. 69,990, because a page about drying does not need a full washing-machine buying guide and one exists elsewhere. Among the drying machines we did leave out: the LG WashTower at Rs. 1,79,990 and the LG 13/10 kg at Rs. 1,75,990, both at 35 per cent off and neither rated, seated nowhere because the Samsung at Rs. 3,31,170 already marks the ceiling; the Samsung 12/7 kg listings at Rs. 66,490 and Rs. 74,590, which repeat the Haier's capacity argument; the LG Vivace 11/7 kg at Rs. 59,994 and the LG 9/5 kg at Rs. 59,490, unrated and priced between machines we did seat; and the Electrolux 9/6 kg at Rs. 59,990. On dehumidifiers we seated five of twelve and left out the Novita ND 298, ND12.8, ND 328, ND 25.5, ND 838 and O20i between Rs. 28,500 and Rs. 53,000, every one of them 2 to 5 per cent off and unrated, because they make the same point as the five we did seat. Eighteen of 22 garment steamers were left out, mostly Philips listings between Rs. 3,499 and Rs. 8,499 with no ratings at all. Nothing was excluded for being a bad product.

What we look for

We read one retailer's catalogue on one day and counted by category

On August 4, 2026 we ran eight category queries against Croma's own catalogue API - washing machines, clothes dryers, tumble dryer, washer dryer, dehumidifiers, garment steamers, air purifiers and dryers - and kept every listing that returned a price, a stated MRP above that price and an image. That gave 165 deduplicated rows. We then took the median discount, median price, brand count and rating coverage of each category, which produced the pattern this page is built on: dehumidifiers at a median 4 per cent off, washing machines at 19, air purifiers at 22, washer-dryers at 23, garment steamers and clothes dryers at 28, and hair dryers at 36. Note that Croma's dryers category returns hair dryers, not clothes dryers, which is why we queried the clothes-drying machines separately - a shopper searching dryers on the site in August will land on hair care. All of these figures describe Croma on one day and nothing more; a different retailer, or the same retailer next week, may look nothing like this.

Croma publishes an average rating and no review count, so we do not rank on it

Every rating on this page is Croma's own published average, and Croma's product data carries no review count alongside it. That means a 5.0 and a 3.4 on this page may rest on one review and four hundred, and there is no way to tell them apart from the listing. We have therefore printed each rating where it exists, flagged its absence where it does not, and chosen no pick on the strength of its score. The two clearest illustrations are seated deliberately: a Philips steamer at 5.0 and a Morphy Richards at 1.0, neither of which we can weigh. Rating coverage itself is the more useful signal here, and it is thin exactly where the money is - 19 of the 24 dryer and washer-dryer listings and 10 of the 12 dehumidifiers publish no rating at all, against 26 of 42 washing machines and 19 of 36 hair dryers.

The correlation we found is real, and we are not claiming to know why

Ranked by median discount, Croma's monsoon aisle runs almost exactly inverse to how completely each category solves a wet-season problem: dehumidifiers 4 per cent, washing machines 19, air purifiers 22, washer-dryers 23, clothes dryers and garment steamers 28, hair dryers 36. The dehumidifier aisle in particular has one supplier group across all 12 listings, and that is the most obvious explanation for its near-zero discounts - a shelf with no competing brand has nothing to price against. That is an observation about what is on the shelf, not an allegation about Origin, Novita or Croma. Other mundane explanations exist: low-volume specialist appliances discount less everywhere, and large appliances carry delivery and installation costs that compress margin. We report the pattern because it is useful to a buyer, not because we can explain it.

Nothing here is tested, and the drying advice is category reasoning

We have not used, installed, run, loaded or handled any appliance on this page. Where we explain that a washer-dryer dries less than it washes, that a semi-automatic spins clothes drier than most top loaders, that a room dehumidifier will speed up indoor line-drying, or that a garment steamer works on clothes that are already dry, that is general category understanding and is flagged as ours each time - none of it is a measurement and none of it is a specification we read off a Croma listing. Capacity figures, star ratings, wattages and features quoted are Croma's own listing wording, reported and not endorsed. Energy star ratings in India are set by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and we have not verified any listing's claim. Installation requirements, venting, water drainage, warranty terms, service coverage and return windows should all be confirmed with Croma before you order, and for a machine at these prices we would confirm the service network in your city first of all.

FAQs

What is the cheapest clothes dryer at Croma?

In our August 4, 2026 read of Croma's catalogue, an IFB 5.5 kg 5 Star fully automatic front load dryer at Rs. 22,490 against a stated MRP of Rs. 25,690, carrying a published average of 3.4. Croma's own 7 kg front load dryer sat just above it at Rs. 22,990 with a bigger drum, a deeper 28 per cent discount and a 4.9 average - though it is a fixed-frequency rather than inverter motor, which generally means more noise. Both averages are published without any review count, so neither score can be weighed properly. Below Rs. 22,490 Croma sells no machine whose job is drying clothes; what it does sell below that price is washing machines, and a hard-spinning semi-automatic at Rs. 9,490 is the cheapest meaningful drying help on the site. Prices change without notice and we have not used any of these machines.

Why are dehumidifiers so expensive and barely discounted at Croma?

We can show you the pattern and be honest that we cannot fully explain it. All 12 dehumidifier listings we read on August 4, 2026 came from a single supplier group - Origin and its Novita line - with a median price of Rs. 32,725 and a median discount of 4 per cent, the lowest of any category in the pull. The smallest badge in all 165 listings, 2 per cent, was on a Novita machine at Rs. 73,000. A shelf with one supplier and no competing brand has nothing to price against, which is the most obvious explanation, and low-volume specialist appliances discount less at most retailers for ordinary commercial reasons. That is an observation about the shelf and not an allegation about anyone. Worth knowing too: there is a hole in the range. Under Rs. 2,500 you can buy a rechargeable desiccant box for a wardrobe or shoe rack, and the first machine that dehumidifies a room is Rs. 22,500. Croma sells nothing in between.

Should I buy a washer-dryer or a separate dryer?

The honest deciding factor is usually space rather than money. A washer-dryer does both jobs in one drum and one appliance slot, starting at Rs. 37,994 in our read, and for most Indian flats the single footprint is the whole argument. A separate dryer starts cheaper at Rs. 22,490 but assumes you already own a washing machine and have somewhere to put a second appliance. The trade nobody advertises is capacity: a washer-dryer always dries less than it washes, because drying needs the clothes to tumble in free air. One listing here is honest enough to print all three numbers - 9 kg wash, 6 kg dry, 3 kg in a single uninterrupted wash-and-dry run - and every other combo on the page is subject to the same physics without saying so. If you buy a combo, find that third number first. We have not used any of these machines and this is category reasoning, not testing.

Do Croma's star ratings mean anything?

Less than they appear to, and this page is deliberately built not to depend on them. Croma publishes an average rating for many products and does not publish a review count alongside it, so a 5.0 average may represent one satisfied buyer and a 3.4 may represent four hundred - and nothing on the listing distinguishes the two. In this pull that produced some striking pairs: a Philips garment steamer at 5.0 and a Morphy Richards at 1.0, and two listings of the same IFB dryer in different finishes rated 3.4 and 4.1. Rating coverage is itself the more useful signal, and it thins exactly where the spending is heaviest: 19 of the 24 clothes-dryer and washer-dryer listings and 10 of the 12 dehumidifiers carried no rating at all, against 26 of 42 washing machines. Treat a Croma average as weak directional evidence and go looking for reviews with counts attached before committing to a large appliance.

Will a garment steamer help dry clothes in the monsoon?

No, and it is worth being blunt because the discounts push you towards them. A garment steamer relaxes creases in cloth that is already dry; it adds moisture rather than removing it. It is a genuinely useful August purchase for a different reason - clothes dried slowly indoors on a rack come out creased in ways an iron struggles with, and a steamer fixes that quickly - but it does nothing whatsoever about the underlying problem of wet laundry or a damp room. The pricing is the trap: garment steamers carried a median 28 per cent discount in our read against 4 per cent for dehumidifiers, so the appliance that does not solve the problem is the one on offer. If you want one anyway, the Xiaomi handheld at Rs. 2,204 was the only sub-Rs. 3,000 steamer here with a published rating above 3, and that rating comes without a review count like all the others.

More Croma coverage on Zoutons

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, stated MRP, discount percentage and rating here was read from Croma's own catalogue API at croma.com on August 4, 2026, and all of them can change without notice. The pull ran eight category queries - washing machines, clothes dryers, tumble dryer, washer dryer, dehumidifiers, garment steamers, air purifiers and dryers - and kept only listings returning a price, a stated MRP higher than that price and an image, which yielded 165 deduplicated rows. Every rating quoted is Croma's own published average and Croma publishes no review count alongside it, which means a 5.0 on this page may rest on one review and a 3.4 on four hundred, and the two cannot be compared. We have printed the ratings because they are the only published evidence available and have chosen no pick on the strength of one; where no rating exists we have said so on the card. Our central figures - median discounts of 4 per cent for dehumidifiers, 19 for washing machines, 22 for air purifiers, 23 for washer-dryers, 28 for clothes dryers and garment steamers and 36 for hair dryers, and rating coverage of 2 of 12, 26 of 42, 14 of 29, 0 of 5, 5 of 19 and 19 of 36 respectively - are counts and medians of one retailer's catalogue on one day and describe nothing beyond it. The observation that all 12 dehumidifier listings come from Origin and its Novita line describes what was on the shelf that day; it is not an allegation about Origin, Novita or Croma, and low-volume specialist appliances discount less at most retailers for ordinary commercial reasons. We have not used, installed, run, loaded, plumbed or handled any appliance on this page, and nothing here is a test result. Capacities, star ratings, wattages, tank volumes and feature names are the manufacturer's or the store's own listing wording, reported and not endorsed; energy star ratings in India are set by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and we have verified none of them. Statements of category convention - that washer-dryers dry a smaller load than they wash, that a semi-automatic generally spins clothes drier than a top loader, that a room dehumidifier speeds indoor drying, that a garment steamer works on dry cloth and does not dry wet cloth, that fixed-frequency motors are typically noisier than inverter motors - reflect general category understanding rather than testing. Installation requirements, venting and drainage, electrical load, warranty terms, service network coverage in your city and return windows should all be confirmed with Croma before ordering.
