Flipkart's festive gifting shelf, read on 8 October as Big Billion Days opened: 135 chocolate and dry-fruit listings, Rs. 137 to Rs. 3,514, median Rs. 448, median badge 49%. The useful number is none of those. 66 of the 135 carry no customer rating at all, and that unrated half costs a median Rs. 735 against Rs. 360 for the rated half — at the same badge. Above Rs. 1,000, 29 of 39 listings are unrated. Below: where the reviews actually are, why Ferrero discounts 15% while unknown brands print 87%, and why a "gift hamper" search returns jewellery.

📅 Update log:
8 October 2026 — First publication, on the morning Big Billion Days opened to early access. 228 unique listings read first-party from Flipkart's own search pages for "chocolate gift pack", "dry fruits gift pack" and "gift hamper" (two pages each); 59 non-food gift sets excluded; the 135 chocolate, dry-fruit and nut listings analysed. Recorded: the rated-versus-unrated price split, the share of unrated listings above Rs. 1,000, per-brand median badges, prices and rating counts, the deepest and shallowest food badges, and the jewellery contamination of the "gift hamper" query. Prices verified 8 October 2026.
Half this shelf has no rating, and that half costs twice as much
We read Flipkart's chocolate and dry-fruit gifting shelf on 8 October, the morning Big Billion Days opened. 135 food gifting listings, priced Rs. 137 to Rs. 3,514, median Rs. 448, median discount badge 49%.
The number that matters is not any of those. It is this: 66 of the 135 listings publish no customer rating at all. Those 66 have a median price of Rs. 735. The 69 listings that do carry a rating have a median price of Rs. 360.
The unrated half of this shelf costs roughly twice the rated half — and the discount badges are effectively identical. Median badge on unrated listings: 50%. On rated listings: 48%. Two points apart. Whatever the badge is measuring, it is not telling you which of these boxes anyone has actually received.
An absent rating is not a black mark. Festive gifting is seasonal and listings created for this Diwali will not have reviews yet; plenty of good products have no feedback. The point is narrower and purely practical: on this shelf, the higher price does not come with more evidence. It comes with less.
| Flipkart's festive food gifting shelf | Rated listings | Unrated listings |
|---|
| How many of the 135 | 69 | 66 |
| Median selling price | Rs. 360 | Rs. 735 |
| Median discount badge | 48% | 50% |
| Share of listings above Rs. 1,000 | 10 of 39 | 29 of 39 |
| What the badge tells you about this | Nothing | Nothing |
Three-quarters of the expensive end has no feedback at all
Narrow to the listings a shopper would consider a serious gift — anything from Rs. 1,000 up — and the pattern gets sharper rather than softer.
39 listings on this shelf cost Rs. 1,000 or more. 29 of them have no rating. That is 74%.
The three most expensive brands in the read tell the same story at brand level. Glossary's listings have a median price of Rs. 3,018. NUTRI MIRACLE's Rs. 2,866. vt real nutri's Rs. 2,463. Across the 24 listings those three brands have between them, the median rating count is zero. These are the dearest things on the shelf by a wide margin — six to seven times the shelf median — sold with no published customer feedback.
Compare that with the cheap end, where the feedback is thickest: Farmley's date bites at Rs. 340 carry 9,291 ratings, a YUM YUM listing carries a median 3,396, SNICKERS' assorted minis at Rs. 467 carry 581, and FERRERO ROCHER's four-piece festival pack at Rs. 246 carries 6,397. The evidence and the price run in opposite directions on this shelf.
Nothing here says the expensive listings are bad. We did not buy, open or eat anything, and a new listing from a small seller has no reviews for entirely innocent reasons. But if you are spending Rs. 3,000 on a gift that someone else will open, a listing with no feedback is a different proposition from one with nine thousand ratings, and the page does not flag the difference.
The brands you have heard of barely discount
Against a shelf median badge of 49%, the recognisable names sit near the bottom of the discount table:
| Brand | Listings | Median badge | Median price | Median rating count |
|---|
| FERRERO ROCHER | 6 | 15% | Rs. 284 | 60 |
| SNICKERS | 1 | 13% | Rs. 467 | 581 |
| Farmley | 1 | 20% | Rs. 340 | 9,291 |
| WONDERLAND | 3 | 24% | Rs. 1,469 | 223 |
| Cadbury (gifting combos) | 6 | 45% | Rs. 334 | 11 |
| Hobby Herbs | 4 | 42% | Rs. 687 | 75 |
| vt real nutri | 13 | 41% | Rs. 2,463 | 0 |
| Glossary | 6 | 44% | Rs. 3,018 | 0 |
| NUTRI MIRACLE | 5 | 52% | Rs. 2,866 | 0 |
| Chocoloony | 10 | 54% | Rs. 720 | 14 |
| redbakers.in | 6 | 58% | Rs. 228 | 0 |
| OddClick | 10 | 63% | Rs. 259 | 43 |
FERRERO ROCHER's own listings range from 10% to 48% off, so even within one brand the badge moves by nearly forty points. Its cheapest tile — a four-piece festival pack at Rs. 246, badged 48%, carrying 6,397 ratings — is both the deepest-discounted and the most-reviewed thing the brand has on this shelf.
This is the familiar shape and it is worth naming plainly: a discount badge is struck against a stated maximum retail price that the seller sets. A brand with a well-known shelf price has little room to inflate the reference number. A brand nobody can price from memory has a great deal. Setting a list price is an ordinary and lawful commercial decision and nothing here alleges otherwise — but it does mean that on a gifting shelf, the badge mostly measures how unfamiliar the brand is.
"Gift hamper" is not a food search
One practical warning about searching this category at all. Of the 228 unique listings these three queries returned, 59 are not food — they are jewellery sets, keychains, bracelets, artificial flowers, soft toys, printed cushions, mugs and water bottles, all filed as "gift sets" and "gift hampers". They are excluded from every figure on this page.
They matter because of where they sit in the rankings. The deepest discount badges on the entire results page — 92%, 91%, 90%, 90% — are all jewellery gift sets, not chocolate. A STARLIVEN jewellery set at Rs. 162 against a stated Rs. 1,999 produces the 92%. If you sort a "gift hamper" search by discount, the top of the list is jewellery and the chocolate starts a long way down.
The deepest badge on anything edible is 87% — a DAILYHERBS Afghani anjeer jar at Rs. 137 against a stated Rs. 1,050, with 19 ratings and a 4.2 average. After that: a MRHERB panchmeva jar at Rs. 252 (75%, 13 ratings), an Arihant mixed dry fruit at Rs. 262 (74%, unrated) and a Chocoloony chocolate combo at Rs. 215 (73%, 15 ratings).
Searching "chocolate gift pack" or "dry fruits gift pack" rather than "gift hamper" is the fix, and it costs nothing.
What Big Billion Days is doing to this shelf, and what it is not
This read was taken on the first morning of Big Billion Days early access, so it is fair to ask whether these are sale prices. Two honest caveats.
First, we have no pre-sale baseline for this particular shelf, so nothing here establishes that any of these prices fell for the sale. Separately, we did track 79 Flipkart products across eight other categories from 21 September into the sale's first morning: 58 were cheaper, 15 unchanged and 6 dearer, with a median change of -4.8%. That is a different set of categories and should be read as context rather than as a measurement of gifting.
Second, Flipkart's own page says several of its deal formats last one hour or fifteen minutes — Price Crash "resets selected items to Day 0 prices for 1 hour", Super Flash runs "15 minutes after unlocking". On a shelf where half the listings have no rating, a fifteen-minute window is not enough time to check whether the thing you are buying is any good. If you are gifting, the research has to happen before the window, not inside it.
Flipkart also lists fixed festive price points on the same page — Tyohaar Drops from Rs. 49 and Budget Buys at Rs. 99, Rs. 199, Rs. 399, Rs. 599, Rs. 799 and Rs. 999 — which cover most of this shelf's rated, cheaper half.
How to buy a festive gift box on this shelf
One: sort by rating count, not by discount. It is the only number on these tiles that a seller cannot set for itself. Half this shelf has none at all, and the half that does is the cheaper half.
Two: be most careful above Rs. 1,000. That is where 29 of 39 listings have no feedback, and where the three dearest brands have a median rating count of zero across 24 listings.
Three: ignore the badge entirely when comparing brands. Ferrero at 15% and an unfamiliar name at 87% are not telling you the same kind of thing. Compare the rupee price and, on dry fruit, the stated weight — several listings here print a net weight on the pack and several do not.
Four: search the food words. "Chocolate gift pack" and "dry fruits gift pack" return food; "gift hamper" returns jewellery at the top of the discount sort.
Five: if the gift matters more than the saving, the most-reviewed options are also among the cheapest here — Farmley at Rs. 340 with 9,291 ratings, Ferrero's four-piece at Rs. 246 with 6,397, SNICKERS minis at Rs. 467 with 581. That is an unusually comfortable position to be in and it is worth taking advantage of.
All figures read from Flipkart's own search pages on 8 October 2026 and prices during this sale change frequently; the price at your own checkout prevails.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do chocolate and dry fruit gift packs cost on Flipkart?
In this read of 135 food gifting listings on 8 October 2026, they sold between Rs. 137 and Rs. 3,514, with a median of Rs. 448 and a median discount badge of 49%. Most of the shelf is cheap: 96 of the 135 listings sit below Rs. 1,000. The expensive end is thin and, as the page above sets out, largely unreviewed. These figures describe the listings these three searches returned on that date rather than Flipkart's full catalogue, and the read was taken on the first morning of Big Billion Days, when prices change frequently — check the live page.
Why do expensive dry fruit gift boxes on Flipkart have no reviews?
We can only report that they do not, and it is widespread at the top of this shelf. 66 of the 135 food gifting listings publish no rating at all, and 29 of the 39 listings priced at Rs. 1,000 or more are unrated. The three dearest brands in the read — with median prices of Rs. 3,018, Rs. 2,866 and Rs. 2,463 — have a median rating count of zero across 24 listings. An absent rating does not mean a product is poor, unsafe or unsold. Festive gifting listings are seasonal and new ones genuinely have no reviews yet. It simply means that on this shelf the higher price comes with less published evidence, not more, which is worth knowing before spending Rs. 3,000 on something another person will open.
Is a 90% discount on a Flipkart gift hamper real?
First, check what it is. The deepest badges on a "gift hamper" search — 92%, 91% and 90% — are all jewellery gift sets, not food. The deepest badge on anything edible in this read is 87%, a DAILYHERBS anjeer jar at Rs. 137. Second, a badge is arithmetic over the selling price and a stated MRP the seller chooses, and we have not verified that any item here ever sold at its MRP. On this shelf the badge tracks brand familiarity: FERRERO ROCHER's median badge is 15% and SNICKERS' is 13%, while unfamiliar gifting brands run to 87%. Setting a list price and discounting against it are ordinary and lawful commercial practices and no wrongdoing is alleged; comparing the rupee prices is simply the only reliable check.
Which festive gift packs on Flipkart have the most customer reviews?
The most-reviewed listings in this read are also among the cheapest, which is unusual and useful. Farmley's date bites at Rs. 340 carry 9,291 ratings; FERRERO ROCHER's four-piece festival pack at Rs. 246 carries 6,397; a YUM YUM listing carries a median 3,396; SNICKERS' assorted minis at Rs. 467 carry 581. By contrast the premium dry-fruit brands at Rs. 2,400 to Rs. 3,000 have a median rating count of zero. A rating count is a popularity signal rather than a quality verdict, and it is not a judgement we are making — it is the one number on these tiles that the seller does not set.
Should I search "gift hamper" for Diwali chocolate on Flipkart?
Not if you want food. Of the 228 unique listings these queries returned, 59 are jewellery sets, keychains, bracelets, artificial flowers, soft toys, printed cushions, mugs and bottles rather than anything edible, and they dominate the top of a discount sort because their badges run to 92%. Searching "chocolate gift pack" or "dry fruits gift pack" returns the food shelf directly. It costs nothing and it removes about a quarter of the results you did not want.

Every figure describes those listings on that date rather than Flipkart's full catalogue; search results are ranked and change continuously, so a different reader will not see the same set, and this read was taken on the first morning of Big Billion Days when Flipkart's own page states that some offers last one hour or fifteen minutes.
