📅 Update log:
21 October 2026 — First publication. Read the same day: flipkart.com's own search results for "puja thali", "brass idol" and "pooja diya", two pages each, logged out, from India, with nothing purchased and neither Flipkart nor any seller contacted. 212 unique listings returned; the 83 diya listings were excluded from every figure on this page, leaving 129 thali and idol rows. Recorded from this read: prices from Rs. 93 to Rs. 6,837 with 57 of 129 under Rs. 300 and 20 above Rs. 1,000; 118 distinct selling prices against 45 distinct stated MRPs; a stated MRP of Rs. 999 printed by 22 listings selling at Rs. 121, 122, 143, 225, 260, 267, 268, 270, 273, 304, 320, 351, 372, 385, 397, 400, 401, 403, 476, 489, 569 and 994, badged 88% down to 1%; Rs. 1,999 printed by 10, Rs. 499 by 10, Rs. 699 by 9, Rs. 599 by 8 and Rs. 799 by 5; puja thali listings numbering 57 at a median Rs. 256 and a median badge of 65%, against 72 brass idol listings at a median Rs. 503.50 and 58%; the deepest badge in the read being 90% on a Rs. 93 Meenakari thali and the shallowest 1% on a Rs. 994 idol set; and 70 of the 129 listings publishing no star average or review count, with a median pool of 74 among the 59 that do. Materials and dimensions are the listings' own printed descriptions and are not verified.
One stated MRP of Rs. 999, and a badge that runs from 88% to 1%
We read 212 listings from Flipkart's own search results on 21 October 2026 across three queries, logged out, from India, nothing purchased. 83 of them are diya listings, which we cover on a separate page and have excluded from every figure here — so what follows is computed over the remaining 129 puja thali and brass idol rows.
Twenty-two of those 129 print exactly the same stated MRP: Rs. 999. They sell for anything from Rs. 121 to Rs. 994, and the displayed discount runs from 88% down to 1%.
That is an eight-fold price spread and an 87-point badge spread on a single strike-through. Inside this column the percentage is not information — it is the price, restated.

The first two rows are near-identical listings — the same brand's Kamdhenu cow-and-calf idol at Rs. 121 and Rs. 122, both badged 88%, with review pools of 645 and 316. Different pools mean genuinely separate listings rather than one duplicated, which is ordinary and not something we criticise.
The last row is the one worth sitting with. A Rs. 994 idol set against a stated Rs. 999 prints a 1% badge — five rupees off. It is the most expensive thing in its own column and the only listing on this shelf whose strike-through tells you almost nothing, because it is almost the price. That is the more candid display, not the worse deal.
Eleven of the 22 publish no rating at all, including that Rs. 994 set and both Rs. 400 Shivam Vastu Kala idols.
45 stated MRPs cover 118 different prices
| Stated MRP | Listings printing it | Prices they sell at | Badge range |
|---|
| Rs. 999 | 22 | Rs. 121 to Rs. 994 | 1% to 88% |
| Rs. 1,999 | 10 | Rs. 233 to Rs. 998 | 16% to 88% |
| Rs. 499 | 10 | Rs. 124 to Rs. 365 | 27% to 75% |
| Rs. 699 | 9 | Rs. 146 to Rs. 398 | 43% to 79% |
| Rs. 599 | 8 | Rs. 96 to Rs. 300 | 50% to 84% |
| Rs. 799 | 5 | Rs. 165 to Rs. 415 | 48% to 79% |
The strike-through column on this shelf is far coarser than the price column. 129 listings produce 118 distinct selling prices but only 45 distinct stated MRPs, and six figures account for 64 of the 129 rows.
Every one of those six columns spans a badge range of at least 31 points. So two listings printing the same MRP can differ by a factor of eight on price, and two listings with the same badge can print MRPs five times apart. Comparing badges across columns is meaningless; comparing them inside one is circular.
No stated MRP here is being called false and no wrongdoing is alleged. A maximum retail price is a maximum a brand is entitled to set, and sellers banding to round figures like Rs. 999 and Rs. 499 is ordinary retail practice.
Thalis and idols are two different shelves
| Measure | Puja thali listings | Brass idol listings |
|---|
| Listings read | 57 | 72 |
| Price range | Rs. 93 to Rs. 2,499 | Rs. 118 to Rs. 6,837 |
| Median price | Rs. 256 | Rs. 503.50 |
| Badge range | 29% to 90% | 1% to 88% |
| Median badge | 65% | 58% |
| Listings publishing a rating | 34 of 57 | 25 of 72 |
Brass idols cost roughly twice what thalis do — a median of Rs. 503.50 against Rs. 256 — and they carry shallower badges, 58% against 65%. They also reach much further at the top: the dearest idol in the read is Rs. 6,837 against the dearest thali's Rs. 2,499.
And the idols are the less-reviewed half. Only 25 of 72 idol listings publish any rating, against 34 of 57 thalis. Across both, 70 of 129 listings publish nothing at all, and the 59 that do have a median pool of just 74 ratings.
The two ends of the shelf
| Listing | Price | Stated MRP | Badge | Rating / reviews |
|---|
| Taars Meenakari Bhai Dooj thali | Rs. 93 | Rs. 899 | 90% | 4.3 / 16 |
| Shri Krishna Store steel pooja thali set | Rs. 96 | Rs. 599 | 84% | 3.8 / 145 |
| AVplast brass Laddu Gopal statue | Rs. 118 | Rs. 992 | 88% | 4.1 / 513 |
| VUNNAVA coconut breaker plate | Rs. 186 | Rs. 599 | 69% | 4.1 / 1,632 |
| SV Meenakari 12-inch pooja thali | Rs. 219 | Rs. 599 | 63% | 4.0 / 1,390 |
| Kalarambh brass Lakshmi idol | Rs. 849 | Rs. 940 | 10% | 3.2 / 5 |
| Maya Brass Emporium Vishnu Ganesha idol | Rs. 4,315 | Rs. 4,999 | 14% | None published |
| Newartplaza brass showpiece, 29.2 cm | Rs. 6,837 | Rs. 8,999 | 24% | None published |
The deepest badge in the read, 90%, is on the cheapest thing in it — a Rs. 93 Meenakari thali. At the other end a Rs. 849 brass Lakshmi prints 10% and a Rs. 4,315 idol prints 14%, the two shallowest badges on the shelf bar one.
The two listings with real review pools are both cheap and both unremarkable on badge: a coconut breaker plate at Rs. 186 with 1,632 ratings and a 12-inch Meenakari thali at Rs. 219 with 1,390. Neither would surface in a sort by discount.
What this page does not tell you
Nothing here was bought, unpacked, weighed, measured or assayed. "Brass", "pure brass", "Ashtadhatu", "gold plated", "German silver" and "silver plated" are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced here and not independently verified. We make no claim about any item's metal content, plating, weight, finish or workmanship, and we are not suggesting any description is inaccurate.
On a metalware shelf that gap is wider than usual. A search result can establish what a seller charges and what it prints; it cannot establish what an alloy is. Several of these listings state a weight and dimensions and others do not — where they do, that is the most useful line on the page, because a brass idol under Rs. 150 is telling you about its size.
Nor does this page tell you today's price. Every figure was returned on 21 October 2026. With Diwali falling in November, this shelf moves quickly; check the live listing before buying.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a puja thali cost on Flipkart in October 2026?
The median thali listing costs Rs. 256. Across the 57 puja thali listings we read on 21 October 2026, prices run from Rs. 93 for a Taars Meenakari Bhai Dooj thali to Rs. 2,499 for a 13-piece Diwali set, with a median advertised badge of 65%. Brass idols are roughly twice the money: median Rs. 503.50 across 72 listings, running to Rs. 6,837 for a 29.2 cm showpiece. Taken together, 57 of the 129 listings sell under Rs. 300 and only 20 sell above Rs. 1,000. Figures read 21 October 2026 and subject to change.
Why do so many of these listings show the same Rs. 999 MRP?
Twenty-two of the 129 listings print exactly Rs. 999 — and their badges run from 88% down to 1%. The cheapest in that column sells for Rs. 121 and the dearest for Rs. 994: an eight-fold price spread, an 87-point badge spread, on a single strike-through. The shelf as a whole shows 118 distinct selling prices against only 45 distinct stated MRPs; after Rs. 999 the common figures are Rs. 1,999 (10 listings), Rs. 499 (10), Rs. 699 (9) and Rs. 599 (8). A stated MRP is the maximum retail price a brand is entitled to set, and nothing here says any of these figures is false, inflated or improper — no wrongdoing by Flipkart, by any seller on it or by any brand named is alleged. What it means in practice is that the percentage inside that column is simply the price restated: hold Rs. 999 still and 88% means Rs. 121 while 1% means Rs. 994.
Does a bigger discount badge mean a cheaper puja item?
Within one MRP column, yes — trivially, because the badge is the price. Across columns, no. The deepest badge on the whole shelf, 90%, sits on a Rs. 93 thali, so there the two agree. But a Rs. 994 idol badged 1% costs more than a Rs. 569 idol badged 43% and more than a Rs. 476 one badged 52% — all three printing the same Rs. 999. And the three dearest listings in the read, at Rs. 6,837, Rs. 5,052 and Rs. 4,315, are badged 24%, 67% and 14%. The percentage measures the gap between two figures the listing prints, not the money you hand over. Sort by price.
Can I trust the ratings on Flipkart's puja and brass idol listings?
Most of the shelf has no ratings at all, and the rest are thin. 70 of the 129 listings publish no star average and no review count — more than half. Among the 59 that do, the median pool is just 74 ratings, and several of the figures on this page rest on single digits: a 5.0 on 1 rating, a 5.0 on 3, a 4.6 on 10. A five-star average on one review is not a quality signal, and we are not presenting it as one. Only a handful of listings carry real pools — 1,632 on a coconut breaker plate, 1,390 on a Meenakari thali, 744 and 645 on two others. This is a handicraft-seller shelf and it is far thinner on reviews than Flipkart's mainstream categories; that is a description of what the shelf returned, not a criticism of Flipkart or of any seller.
Are these brass idols actually brass?
We do not know, and neither does anyone reading a listing page. Every material word on this page — "brass", "pure brass", "Ashtadhatu", "gold plated", "German silver", "silver plated" — is the listing's own printed description, reproduced here and not independently verified. Nothing on this page was bought, unpacked, weighed, measured or assayed, and we make no claim about any item's metal content, plating thickness, weight, finish or workmanship. We are not suggesting any description is inaccurate and we allege no wrongdoing by any seller — only that a search result cannot establish what an alloy is. On a metalware shelf that gap matters more than usual: check the declared weight and dimensions on the listing itself, which several of these listings state and others do not, and treat a brass idol priced below a hundred rupees as telling you something about its size.

Zoutons earns affiliate commission on some links on this page. It costs you nothing and it does not decide what we write. Every price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count above was returned by flipkart.com's own search results on 21 October 2026, logged out, from India, with nothing purchased; every count, median and range was computed mechanically over the 129 thali and idol rows, with the 83 diya listings excluded. A stated MRP is the figure a listing prints. Reporting that twenty-two listings print one identical stated MRP while selling at prices eight-fold apart, that a shelf carries more distinct prices than distinct strike-throughs, or that a listing displays a 1% discount, is arithmetic over published figures and a description of what those figures are. IT IS NOT A STATEMENT THAT ANY MRP IS FALSE, INFLATED, FABRICATED, MISDECLARED OR NON-COMPLIANT, THAT ANY DISCOUNT IS NOT GENUINE, THAT ANY RATING IS NOT AUTHENTIC, THAT ANY PRODUCT IS OVERPRICED OR MISDESCRIBED, OR THAT ANY SELLER, BRAND OR PLATFORM HAS ENGAGED IN MISLEADING ADVERTISING, AN UNFAIR TRADE PRACTICE, A DARK PATTERN OR ANY OTHER CONTRAVENTION OF THE LEGAL METROLOGY ACT, 2009, THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT, 2019, THE CONSUMER PROTECTION (E-COMMERCE) RULES, 2020, THE GUIDELINES FOR PREVENTION AND REGULATION OF DARK PATTERNS, 2023, OR ANY OTHER LAW OR GUIDELINE — and no such wrongdoing is alleged or implied against Flipkart Internet Private Limited, any seller on its platform, or against any brand named here. Nothing on this page was bought, unpacked, weighed, measured or assayed. "Brass", "pure brass", "Ashtadhatu", "gold plated", "German silver" and "silver plated" are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced here and not independently verified; we make no claim about metal content, plating, weight, finish or workmanship on any item named, and we do not suggest any description is inaccurate. Where this page notes that most listings publish no rating, that is a description of what the shelf returned on the date stated and not a criticism of Flipkart or of any seller. These are items of religious use and nothing here is a comment on their suitability for any ritual purpose. Prices and badges move constantly; the figure Flipkart shows at your checkout prevails over anything here.
