Known brands badge 52%. Everyone else badges 76%. And three YONEX rackets sell at exactly the same price with three different percentages.
We read 182 badminton, cricket and skipping-rope listings from Flipkart's own search results on 21 October 2026, and the discount badge turns out to track one thing: whether you have heard of the brand. The 54 listings from recognisable sports names carry a median badge of 52% at a median price of Rs. 553. The other 128 carry 76% at Rs. 200. YONEX medians 42%, COSCO 28%, NIVIA 7% — against no-name listings running to 91% and 93%. And three YONEX rackets in this read sell at exactly Rs. 589 while displaying 22%, 26% and 44% off, because they print three different strike-throughs.
Every price below was pulled from Flipkart on October 21, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Flipkart coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

First, compare rating counts, not badges. An identical rating count across two listings means one product listed twice — and in this read that costs real money: an Adrenex R501 at Rs. 849 and Rs. 929 both report 93,742 ratings, and an Arcsaber 73 appears at Rs. 1,469 and Rs. 1,799 all reporting 10,040. Search the model name, not the category. Second, expect the brands to badge shallow. COSCO runs 5-33% and YONEX 21-53% here, so a sort by discount removes them from view entirely, including a Rs. 499 LI-NING with 36,653 ratings. Third, read the strike-through, not the percentage. A Rs. 190 bat prints an MRP 11.6 times its price; a Rs. 1,699 YONEX prints one 1.67 times its price. Those two badges are not measuring the same thing. Fourth, remember what a listing page cannot settle. Nothing here was unboxed, strung or swung; "Graphite", "Kashmir Willow", the gram weights and the string tensions are the sellers' own printed claims, and on a racquet the weight and tension are the two figures actually worth checking on the product page before you buy.

Each selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, star average and rating count here came from the product data flipkart.com itself serves on its search results, read on 21 October 2026, logged out, from India, with nothing purchased and customer service not contacted. Three queries — badminton racket, cricket bat and skipping rope, two pages each — returned 182 unique listings; 26 are seated. Every count and median quoted anywhere on this page is computed over all 182 rows.
The claim that the badge tracks the brand is computed, not asserted. We classified as 'recognisable' the twelve sports brands appearing in the read — YONEX, COSCO, LI-NING, Adrenex, Hundred, NIVIA, MRF, REEBOK, BOLDFIT, apacs, SLOVIC and Jaspo — which is a judgement call and we state it openly. Those 54 listings have a median badge of 52% and a median price of Rs. 553. The other 128 have a median badge of 76% and a median price of Rs. 200.
158 of 182 listings publish a star average and a review count, so the pills on this page are real figures quoted as Flipkart returned them. Where two or more listings report an identical rating count we say so, because that is the ordinary fingerprint of one product listed more than once: Adrenex R501 shows 93,742 twice at Rs. 849 and Rs. 929; YONEX ZR 100 LIGHT shows 65,793 twice; Arcsaber 73 shows 10,040 three times at Rs. 1,469 and Rs. 1,799.
Nothing here was bought, unboxed, strung, swung or tested. "Graphite", "Kashmir Willow", "Poplar Willow", the gram weights and the string tensions are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced and not independently verified. No claim is made about any item's balance, flex, stiffness, weight, durability or suitability for any level of play.
The median badminton racket listing costs Rs. 509. Across the 59 racket listings we read on 21 October 2026, prices run from Rs. 189 to Rs. 4,384, with a median advertised badge of 53%. The other two shelves are far cheaper: 64 cricket bat listings at a median Rs. 233.50 and 59 skipping rope listings at a median Rs. 129. The cheapest branded racket seated here is a LI-NING Smash XP 90 IV at Rs. 499 with 36,653 ratings. Figures read 21 October 2026 and subject to change.
Because the badge tracks the strike-through, and recognisable brands print modest ones. In this read, YONEX's 13 listings are badged 21% to 53%, median 42%; COSCO's four run 5% to 33%, median 28%; NIVIA's single listing is 7%. Against that, the 128 listings carrying no recognisable sports brand have a median badge of 76%, running to 91% and 93%. But look at the money: the branded 54 have a median price of Rs. 553 and the unbranded 128 a median of Rs. 200. A brand that prints a list price close to what it charges cannot produce a large percentage, however it prices, and that is a legitimate way to price. No stated MRP here is being called false and no wrongdoing by Flipkart, by any seller or by any brand is alleged. The practical consequence is that sorting these shelves by discount hides every brand you have heard of.
Because they print three different stated MRPs. In this read a YONEX ZR 100 LIGHT at Rs. 589 prints Rs. 755 (22%), a GR303i Red at Rs. 589 prints Rs. 800 (26%), and a GR 303i at Rs. 589 prints Rs. 1,049 (44%). Identical money, three percentages, twice the badge on the third. That is the clearest demonstration on this page that a discount badge is a property of the listing rather than of the racquet: it measures the gap between two figures the listing prints, and only one of those figures is what you pay.
Check whether the rating counts match exactly. It is the one number a seller cannot set independently, and in this read it exposes three cases. An Adrenex R501 appears at Rs. 849 and Rs. 929 — both off the same stated Rs. 1,375, both reporting 93,742 ratings. A YONEX ZR 100 LIGHT appears twice at Rs. 589, both reporting 65,793. A YONEX Arcsaber 73 appears three times, all reporting 10,040, at Rs. 1,469, Rs. 1,469 and Rs. 1,799. Duplicate and colour-variant listings are a routine feature of marketplaces and we allege no wrongdoing by anyone — but the Rs. 80 and Rs. 330 gaps are real money, and the only way to catch them is to search the model name rather than browse the category. By contrast, two near-identical Resh skipping ropes here report 38,740 and 58,696 ratings, so those are genuinely separate listings.
We do not know — nothing on this page was swung. What we can say is what the numbers do. A plastic bat at Rs. 198 badged 91% carries 41,393 ratings at 4.1 stars, which is a genuinely deep pool, so a big badge and real reviews do sometimes arrive together. But Rs. 198 would be Rs. 198 whatever figure the listing printed above it, and on the same shelf a COSCO bat at Rs. 679 badged 5% carries only 215 ratings. The badge tells you nothing about either. "Kashmir Willow", "Poplar Willow", "heavy duty" and the gram weights on this page are the listings' own printed descriptions, reproduced and not verified; we make no claim about any bat's wood, weight, balance or durability. One further note for transparency: one listing in the read is titled "SANWAR SPORTS YONEX 303I" at Rs. 896 against Rs. 999 with no ratings — a third-party seller's title carrying a brand word. We name it, draw no conclusion about it, and have not seated it as a pick.
