Amazon Car Accessories October 2026: Six MRPs Exactly 100x the Price

A 99% discount badge is arithmetic, and arithmetic can be wrong. We read 66 car accessory listings on 28 October 2026 from Amazon's own search results and divided each stated MRP by its selling price.

Six of them came out at exactly one hundred. Not roughly a hundred — exactly: Rs. 1,359 against Rs. 1,35,900, Rs. 89 against Rs. 8,900. Three more sit at 33x and 13.3x. All nine are excluded from every figure below, and what is left is an ordinary shelf with unusually thin reviews.

A Rs. 1,359 floor mat states an MRP of Rs. 1,35,900 — more than a lakh and a half for a set of car mats, and exactly one hundred times what it charges. A Rs. 89 air freshener states Rs. 8,900. A Rs. 229 seat cover states Rs. 22,900.

An exact factor of one hundred, appearing six times on one shelf, is the signature of a decimal point in the wrong place — the same digits, two places over. The badges these produce, 99% on every one, are the six deepest on the shelf. All nine implausible listings are excluded from every percentage quoted on this page.

We are not alleging that anyone entered a wrong figure deliberately, and nothing here alleges wrongdoing by Amazon or by any brand or seller named. Data-entry errors in a marketplace catalogue of this size are ordinary. The useful conclusion for a shopper is narrow and practical: on this aisle a 99% badge is a typo, not a bargain.

Across the 57 credible listings the median star average is 3.9 and 31 of them sit below 4.0. The floor is a Rs. 1,499 towel seat cover at 2.1 stars on 23 ratings, and a Rs. 420 seat cover at 2.4 on 18.

The evidence is thin as well as poor. Median rating count here is 177, and 17 of the 57 have fewer than 50 ratings — on the Amazon shelves we read through the autumn, medians in the high hundreds or low thousands are normal. Seat covers and fitted mats are the weakest part of it, which is not surprising for products sold as "universal fit" into hundreds of different cars: a cover that does not fit gets a low rating regardless of how it is made.

One brand's musk car perfume appears twice in this read: at Rs. 388 badged 60%, and at Rs. 777 badged 10%. Both report an identical 40,386 ratings.

An identical rating count across two tiles is the fingerprint of listings sharing one review pool — a single product family presented under more than one tile and pack size. We do not claim the two are the same item; one is described as a pack of two. What the published numbers show is that a shopper comparing them sees 40,386 reviews on both and a badge of 60% against 10%, and the badge difference is about pack size and reference price, not about customer experience.

One: divide the MRP by the price before trusting any deep badge. Nine of 66 listings here fail that test and six fail it by exactly one hundred. Two: read the rating count, then the stars. Median here is 177 and 17 listings have under 50 — thin for a category where fit is everything. Three: check for a shared rating pool. Two tiles reporting the identical count are one product family at two prices.

Four: confirm fitment and airbag compatibility with the manufacturer, not the tile. Nothing here is a claim about safety or fit — nothing was bought, fitted or used.
