Eleven separate desk lamps from seven unrelated sellers all print the same Rs. 999 above their price. Nobody on this shelf charges Rs. 999 — but it decides what eleven badges say.
We read Amazon India's own desk lamp search results on 6 November 2026 and counted the reference prices rather than the discounts. Eleven of the thirty listings state exactly Rs. 999, from at least seven unrelated sellers. All eleven sell between Rs. 229 and Rs. 399, so their 60% to 77% badges are the selling price restated — and nobody on the shelf charges Rs. 999.
Every price below was pulled from Amazon on November 6, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Amazon coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.
Five lamps between Rs. 229 and Rs. 399 from four unrelated sellers, every one of them measured against the same round number — so the badge is just the price with the arithmetic done.

Rs. 949 — badged 76% against a stated Rs. 3,999
Why it earned its spot the best-rated lamp in the read that is not on the Rs. 999 reference price.
Amazon runs bank offers, coupon clips, Lightning Deals and exchange discounts that change by hour and by card, and this read was made logged out, so none of them is included in any price here. Ignore the badge under Rs. 400 — eleven listings share one Rs. 999 reference price, so the percentage is the price with the arithmetic already done. Read the star average against the review count: the 84% tile averages 3.7 on 1,287 reviews while the 30% tile averages 4.3 on 12,120. Check whether a title names a brand at all — three of the eleven Rs. 999 listings do not, which leaves the review count as the only listing-specific figure. Treat printed wattage and battery figures as claims, because "5W", "1200mAh" and "3 colour modes" are the sellers' own words and nothing here was switched on. And check the warranty and return window on any unbranded electrical item before you buy it.

Each selling price, stated list price, star average and review count was read from amazon.in's own search results for "desk lamp" on 6 November 2026, logged out, from India, with sponsored placements dropped and nothing bought. 30 listings were returned; 22 are seated. Counts, medians and ranges are computed over the full 30 unless the text names the seated 22.
This page claims eleven of the thirty listings state exactly Rs. 999, and that is a count. Rs. 1,499 is stated by three listings and Rs. 1,090 by two, so more than half the shelf measures itself against one of three round numbers. Eight of the eleven Rs. 999 listings are seated here so the repetition can be checked rather than taken on trust.
The seven Philips and wipro listings the read returned badge 30, 37, 37, 41, 47, 50 and 52 — none above 52%. The other 23 badge 4% to 84%, median 65%. The groups overlap on price, so this is reported as a difference in stated reference prices and nothing more; no claim is made that any lamp from either group is better made or brighter, neither of which was tested.
Inside the eleven-listing Rs. 999 group, ranking by discount is identical to ranking by price in reverse, because the reference figure never moves. Setting a reference price above the selling price is an ordinary retail practice and nothing here alleges that any stated list price is false. The narrow, checkable point is that the badge measures the gap to a number the seller chose, so it cannot be compared between sellers who choose differently.
This is a price and listing read and nothing else. Brightness, actual wattage, lumens, colour temperature accuracy, flicker, battery life, charging speed, build quality and electrical safety are not assessed anywhere on this page, and "5W", "1200mAh", "3 colour modes" and "eye caring" are the listings' own printed claims, reproduced rather than verified.
On a read of amazon.in's own "desk lamp" search results on 6 November 2026, the 30 listings returned sold between Rs. 229 and Rs. 1,390, with a median of Rs. 392. Badges ran 4% to 84%, median 62%. The cheap end of the shelf — Rs. 229 to Rs. 399 — is almost entirely rechargeable touch-control LED lamps from sellers like Desidiya, FLYNGO, One94Store and SaleOn, and the Rs. 539 to Rs. 1,390 band is mostly Philips and wipro. Those are Amazon's own published figures, read logged out from India, with sponsored placements dropped. Amazon reprices constantly and these were not re-checked after the read.
Because eleven of the thirty listings in this read state exactly Rs. 999 as their reference price — from at least seven unrelated sellers, including three listings with no brand name in the title at all. Those eleven sell between Rs. 229 and Rs. 399, which automatically puts every one of them in a 60% to 77% badge band. Rs. 999 is not a price anyone charges on this shelf; it is the number eleven sellers chose to be measured against. Setting a reference price above the selling price is an ordinary retail practice and nothing here alleges that any stated list price is false. The practical consequence is that inside that group, sorting by discount gives you exactly the same order as sorting by price in reverse — so the badge adds no information at all.
This read cannot answer that, because nothing on this page was switched on. Brightness, actual wattage, lumens, colour accuracy, flicker, battery life and build quality were not assessed. What the read does show is a clean split in discount behaviour: the seven Philips and wipro listings badge 30, 37, 37, 41, 47, 50 and 52, while the other 23 badge 4% to 84% with a median of 65%. That is not a cheap-versus-expensive split — a Philips at Rs. 539 undercuts several unbranded lamps on the same page. It is a split in how large a reference price each seller is willing to print.
On this read, a Philips Air desk light at Rs. 835, with 12,120 reviews — more than four times any other listing of the 30. It badges 30%, the shallowest genuine discount on the page. Behind it: a Desidiya bedside lamp at Rs. 229 with 6,145 reviews, a wipro table lamp at Rs. 648 with 4,727, and a Fulminare at Rs. 399 with 3,505. At the other end, the two biggest discount claims in the read — 84% and a stated Rs. 3,999 — carry 1,287 and 868 reviews, and the 84% one averages 3.7 stars, the lowest seated here. A review count tells you how many people rated a listing, not how bright the lamp is.
Nothing on this page was switched on, measured or left running, so this is a read of published numbers rather than a recommendation about quality. Under Rs. 400 the read returned eight listings, all stating the same Rs. 999 reference price, with star averages from 3.9 to 4.4 and review counts from 670 to 6,145. Of those, the Rs. 229 Desidiya has by far the most reviews at 6,145 and averages 3.9, while a Rs. 325 unbranded touch lamp averages 4.4 on 670. Ignore the badge entirely in this band — it is identical information to the price. Read the star average against the review count, and check the return window and warranty before buying any unbranded electrical item, which is the one thing a price page genuinely cannot help with.
