Every cashback offer on AbhiBus pays into AbhiCash, its own wallet, and the wallet's terms decide what that cashback is actually worth. We read them on 30 August 2026.

Two rules do most of the work: promotional balance expires in 90 days, and AbhiBus guarantees you can spend only 5 per cent of a fare of it per booking. On a Rs. 800 ticket that is Rs. 40.

📅 Update log:
30 Aug 2026 — first published. Every rule on this page - the two balance types, the 90-day and 30-day expiry periods, the 5 per cent or Rs. 500 redemption floor, the 100 per cent redeemability of non-promotional balance, the transfer and withdrawal restrictions, the refund-to-source rule and the no-interest and no-deletion clauses - was read from AbhiBus's own AbhiCash FAQ and terms and conditions published on abhibus.com/abhicash on 30 August 2026, and is quoted or paraphrased from that page. The worked examples showing what 5 per cent of a given fare comes to are our own arithmetic over the published rule and are described as such. We have not opened an AbhiCash account, earned or redeemed a balance, or tested any of these flows at checkout. AbhiBus states that it may amend, modify or withdraw these terms at any time without notice; we re-read the page and log any change.

Two balances that behave completely differently

Every cashback offer AbhiBus runs pays into AbhiCash, its own wallet, and every refund it issues can be parked there too. On 30 August 2026 we read the wallet's own page and terms in full, because the rules on it decide what a cashback advertised on a coupon is actually worth.

The single most important thing on that page is that AbhiCash is not one balance but two. Promotional AbhiCash is what AbhiBus gives you: cashback, sale rewards, referral credit, offer money. Non-promotional AbhiCash is your own money — what you top up via card, netbanking or a wallet, plus refunds of fares you actually paid.

They look identical in your balance. They expire differently, they can be spent differently, and only one of them can be moved. Everything below is quoted from AbhiBus's own FAQ and terms as published.

💡 Refunds return to the bucket they came from. AbhiBus states that a refund is credited back according to the source of the payment — money spent from promotional balance comes back as promotional balance, with a fresh 30-day clock on it, not as spendable cash.

The 5 per cent rule is what makes a big cashback a small one

AbhiBus's redemption term reads: you can redeem a minimum of 5 per cent of the booking amount or Rs. 500, whichever is lower, using promotional AbhiCash at all times, and 100 per cent of your non-promotional balance at all times. Read that carefully — it is a floor AbhiBus guarantees, not a ceiling it imposes. Above that floor, how much promotional balance a booking will absorb is at AbhiBus's discretion and changes with whatever redemption offer is running.

The arithmetic matters because bus fares are small. Five per cent of a Rs. 800 intercity fare is Rs. 40. The Rs. 500 half of the rule only starts to bind on a fare of Rs. 10,000, and there is no bus ticket in India at that price. So on essentially every booking you will ever make, the guaranteed figure is 5 per cent of the fare.

That is the honest way to read a headline cashback. A Rs. 250 promotional credit is not Rs. 250 off your next ticket; it is guaranteed to be worth Rs. 40 on an Rs. 800 booking, and clearing the rest depends on making more bookings — inside the 90-day window before it expires.

Bus fare5% of the farePromotional AbhiCash you are guaranteed to be able to use
Rs. 300Rs. 15Rs. 15
Rs. 500Rs. 25Rs. 25
Rs. 800Rs. 40Rs. 40
Rs. 1,200Rs. 60Rs. 60
Rs. 2,000Rs. 100Rs. 100
Rs. 10,000Rs. 500Rs. 500 - the point where the Rs. 500 half of the rule binds
Worked example. You earn Rs. 250 cashback into promotional AbhiCash on 30 August. At a guaranteed 5 per cent per booking, clearing it on Rs. 800 fares takes roughly six more bookings, all of which must happen before the balance expires 90 days later on 28 November. If AbhiBus is running a more generous redemption offer at the time, it clears faster - but that is discretionary and not something the terms promise.

Expiry: 90 days, or 30 if it came back from a cancellation

Promotional AbhiCash carries a 90-day validity from the day it is credited. Non-promotional balance — your own topped-up money and refunds of fares you paid in cash — has no expiry at all, and AbhiBus says so explicitly.

The trap sits between the two. If you book a ticket using promotional balance and then cancel it, the promotional portion comes back as promotional balance with a 30-day expiry, not the original 90. A cancellation therefore shortens the life of the credit rather than restoring it.

Neither balance earns interest, and AbhiBus states that it can amend, modify or withdraw these terms at any time without notice, and can suspend an AbhiCash account where it suspects chargebacks or fraudulent activity. Those are its published terms and worth knowing before you park a refund in the wallet rather than taking it back to your bank.

What you cannot do with the balance

The wallet is one-way. AbhiBus states that neither promotional nor non-promotional AbhiCash can be withdrawn to a bank account or moved to another wallet. Once money is in there, the only way out is a bus ticket.

There is one exception, and it is narrow: non-promotional balance can be transferred to another AbhiCash user. Promotional balance cannot. The account itself cannot be deleted either — AbhiBus's FAQ says you may simply choose not to use it.

The practical consequence is at cancellation time. When a booking is cancelled you are usually offered a refund to AbhiCash or back to the original payment method. Parking it in AbhiCash is faster and convenient if you travel often; if you do not, you are converting refundable money into credit that can only ever buy an AbhiBus ticket. Below is what AbhiBus itself says the wallet is for, quoted from its page.

How to check your AbhiCash balance, and how money gets in

AbhiBus's page states that every registered AbhiBus user already has an AbhiCash account — there is no separate sign-up. To see it, log in, open the dashboard and use the Manage button in the AbhiCash section, where the balance and the transaction history are shown. Money enters in three ways: promotional credit from offers, cashback, sales and referrals; an explicit top-up through the Add Money option using a card, netbanking or a digital wallet; and refunds parked there after a cancellation. At payment you select the AbhiCash option, and AbhiBus allows partial payment — whatever the wallet does not cover is charged to a card, netbanking or another method. Everything on this page is quoted from AbhiBus's own published FAQ and terms as read on 30 August 2026; we have not opened an account, redeemed a balance or tested any of these flows at checkout.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is AbhiCash and how does it work?
AbhiCash is AbhiBus's own wallet, and every cashback the site advertises is paid into it. AbhiBus's page describes two kinds of balance. Promotional AbhiCash is credit the company gives you through offers, cashback, sale rewards and referrals. Non-promotional AbhiCash is your own money: amounts you add through the Add Money option using a card, netbanking or a digital wallet, plus refunds of fares you actually paid that you choose to park in the wallet rather than send back to your bank. Every registered AbhiBus user already has an account, so there is nothing to sign up for. At payment you pick AbhiCash as the method, and you can pay partly from the wallet and partly by card or netbanking.
Does AbhiCash expire?
Promotional AbhiCash does, and non-promotional AbhiCash does not. AbhiBus's terms state that promotional balance is valid for 90 days from the day it is issued. There is a shorter clock in one case: promotional balance that is refunded to you against a ticket or service cancellation expires in 30 days from the day it is credited back, not 90. Non-promotional balance - money you added yourself, or a refund of money you paid - has no expiry date at all. Neither balance earns interest. Because the two look identical in your wallet, the practical advice is to check the transaction history rather than the total, since the portion with a deadline on it is not visible from the balance alone.
How much AbhiCash can I use on one booking?
AbhiBus guarantees you can redeem at least the lower of 5 per cent of the booking amount or Rs. 500 of promotional AbhiCash on any booking, and 100 per cent of your non-promotional balance at all times. It also states that redemption offers change from time to time at its discretion, so more than the floor may be allowed on a given day. Because bus fares are small, the 5 per cent half of the rule is the one that applies in practice: on a Rs. 800 fare it is Rs. 40, on Rs. 1,200 it is Rs. 60, and the Rs. 500 half would only bind on a Rs. 10,000 booking. So a large promotional cashback is released across several bookings rather than taken off one, and it has to happen within the 90-day window.
Can I transfer AbhiCash to my bank account?
No. AbhiBus's terms state plainly that AbhiCash, promotional or non-promotional, cannot be withdrawn or transferred to a bank account or to any other wallet. The only exception anywhere in the terms is user-to-user: non-promotional balance can be transferred to another AbhiCash user, while promotional balance cannot be transferred at all. The account cannot be deleted either; the FAQ says you may choose not to use it. This is worth knowing at cancellation time, because taking a refund into AbhiCash rather than back to your original payment method converts money you could have spent anywhere into credit that can only ever buy an AbhiBus ticket.
Is it better to take an AbhiBus refund in AbhiCash or back to my card?
It depends entirely on how often you travel with AbhiBus. A refund parked in AbhiCash arrives faster and sits there without expiry, since a refund of money you paid is non-promotional balance and 100 per cent of it can be spent on a future booking. A refund to your original payment method takes the usual bank settlement time but leaves the money spendable anywhere. If you book buses on AbhiBus several times a year, the wallet is genuinely convenient and costs you nothing in flexibility you would have used. If this was a one-off booking, take the refund back to the card, because the terms are explicit that AbhiCash cannot be withdrawn to a bank account afterwards.

Every rule, validity period, percentage and restriction on this page was read from the AbhiCash FAQ and terms and conditions published on abhibus.com/abhicash on 30 August 2026 and is quoted or closely paraphrased from that page. The redemption rule as published states a minimum you are able to redeem rather than a maximum AbhiBus will allow, and we report it that way: how much promotional balance a specific booking will absorb above that floor is at AbhiBus's discretion and changes with whatever redemption offer is running. The worked examples showing 5 per cent of a given fare are our own arithmetic over the published rule, not figures AbhiBus states, and the number of bookings needed to clear a balance is an illustration rather than a prediction. We have not opened an AbhiCash account, earned, transferred or redeemed any balance, or tested any cancellation, refund or checkout flow, so how the wallet behaves in a live transaction is determined by AbhiBus and not by us. AbhiBus states that it has sole discretion over rewarding AbhiCash and may monitor or temporarily suspend an account in cases such as chargebacks or suspected fraudulent practice, and that these terms may be amended, modified or withdrawn at any time without notice, so this page is one day's read of rules that can change. Nothing here is financial advice, and AbhiCash is not a bank deposit: the terms state it earns no interest and cannot be withdrawn to a bank account or another wallet. Operator names and brand marks belong to their respective owners. Zoutons may earn a commission if you book through links on this page; it does not change what you pay, and nothing here was reviewed or approved by AbhiBus.
