Four women taking over the big city, fetishizing radical choices for females, shifting gears in the workplace and having sex “like men”. Rings a bell? No, I’m not talking about the 90’s show Sex and the City that became a zeitgeist of its time. It’s not even Veere Di Wedding. It is 2019 aired Amazon Prime Original series Four More Shots Please that chronicles fearless, unapologetic women who refuse to be anything but authentic.

This sinfully sexy, smart and sensitive show is prepped for its second season this coming June and I cannot keep calm. The renewed installment “will see the four girls make radical choices in love, career and friendship”, which will “put them through the grind, make them question their inner being but will ultimately redefine their lives”, Amazon said in a press note.
Along with the first season’s supporting cast- Prateik Babbar, Lisa Ray, Milind Soman, Neil Bhooplalam, Simone Singh and Amrita Puri, Samir Kochhar and Shibani Dandekar will be added to season two.
The Amazon Prime exclusive series that aired on 25th January 2019 traces the lives of four girlfriends living in Mumbai who want more from life than just the “perfect man”. The quadruple rendezvous at Truck Bar every week where they toast to freedom, love, mistakes and everything in between (the sheets).
The show introduces Damini Roy (Sayani Gupta), a self-made eminent journalist who has consecutively won the “fearless journalist” award for four years. Her workaholic, formidable public figure is contrasted with her personal life which emulates a cacophonous mess. There is Anjana Menon (Kirti Kulhari), a full-time lawyer and a part-time divorcee, who is obsessed with her ex-husband and his new girlfriend while trying to be a role-model for her daughter.
Umang Singh is played by Bani J who hides her bisexuality from her conservative family back home in Ludhiana, whilst sampling the delights of hook-ups with both men and women in Mumbai. Lastly, Manavi Gagroo plays the bubbly and pampered Sidhi Patel whose identity is reduced to being a 23 year old virgin. Her emotionally abusive and overcritical mother Sneha (Simone Singh) pushes her to battle through her insecurities fabricated by childhood trauma.
The apodosis of the series highlights how this posse of girls go through thick and thin but always end up supporting one another, no matter how divergent their views may be.
The first season of Four More Shots has been directed by Anu Menon, who is also known for directing Waiting (2015) and London Paris New York (2012). This 5.2 rated drama show on IMDb has aired 10 episodes on Amazon Prime with an acclaimed cast that has been mentioned below in a tabular format for your perusal.
The supporting cast of the show is not any less exuberant- with Milind Soman playing an irresistible eye-candy, Amrita Puri frosting the cake with her cameo and Neil Bhoopalam playing a very relatable ex-husband who peppers the show with raw and honest sequences. However, Simone Singh is the most impressive of all the supporting cast (according to me), merely for upholding her long mired reputation of playing head-strong women.

In an interview with Scroll.in, Anu Menon, the force behind the show unveiled what Four More is about and why she decided to direct it.“It’s sexy, sassy, funny and has its own language,” she said. “This is a show about women and their sexuality but also much more than that… The idea was to create a show about a bunch of friends who hang out and talk about their lives and support each other,” Menon said.
Menon also opened about the genesis of the concept of the show that’s borrowed from the lives of common folks who meet once a week and get drunk at a bar.
The show has created quite a stir among the audiences and Zoutons has charitably cataloged the most-read reviews by news channels, social media platforms and more.

“We are sitting in a boardroom with Sayani Gupta as a presentation is in progress, when Milind Soman performs a mini ramp walk in his underwear, darts straight towards her and what follows could well be every (Indian) woman’s fantasy. This dream sequence that opens the pilot episode pulls us into the world of Amazon Prime Video India’s latest web series Four More Shots Please!, a world where women are badass, between the sheets and on the streets, and possess an enviable appetite (and deep pockets) for endless rounds of shots…” Read more
“The Indian Sex and the City. The series form of Veere di Wedding. These are possibly the titles that Amazon Prime’s new series Four More Shots Please was hoping to achieve. The show is based in Mumbai. But it is hard to remember that because it is over-westernized to mimic Sex and The City. With four very different females in the lead roles, the show tries to provide a... “ Read more
