Zoutons Picks — AJIO Women's Ethnic, July 2026

They sell for Rs. 455 to Rs. 975. The sticker never moves, so the badge falls from 90% to 78% by subtraction alone — and 443 listings turn out to share just 197 MRPs between them.

Prices & codes last verified July 31, 2026

The short of it AJIO women's ethnic, 443 listings read on July 31. The Rs. 455 anarkali set and the Rs. 975 one declare the same Rs. 4,345. Two unrelated sellers land on Rs. 652. A saree shares the kurta sets' MRP. The Rs. 81 dupatta, and the read's smallest badge at 15%.

We read four hundred and forty-three in-stock women's ethnic listings from AJIO's own feed on July 31, 2026 — kurta sets, anarkalis, sarees, salwar suits, dupattas and ethnic dresses, from eighty-one brands, priced between Rs. 81 and Rs. 4,234 — and then did something the listings do not invite: we counted how many of them were discounted from the same stated MRP. Four hundred and forty-three listings carry one hundred and ninety-seven distinct MRPs, and the crowding is worst exactly where the badges are biggest. Fifteen separate garments declare a stated MRP of Rs. 4,345. They come from three unrelated sellers — GOSRIKI, SVARAA and AAGHNYA FASHION — and they sell for Rs. 455, Rs. 499, Rs. 652, Rs. 652, Rs. 714, Rs. 739, Rs. 739, Rs. 782, Rs. 849, Rs. 876, Rs. 929, Rs. 956, Rs. 956 and Rs. 975. Five hundred and twenty rupees of movement in the number you pay, not one rupee of movement in the number you are told you are saving from, and a badge that duly walks down from ninety per cent to seventy-eight per cent because that is what division does. Two of those sellers, with no connection to each other, arrive at exactly Rs. 652. The pattern is not a one-off: ten more garments share a stated Rs. 4,596, and fourteen share Rs. 2,998 — a shelf on which a six-metre linen saree and a three-piece stitched kurta set declare the identical ticket. Against all of that sits one instructive counter-example, AVAASA, Reliance Retail's own ethnic label, which takes exactly forty-nine per cent off twenty-two of its thirty-four listings on MRPs from Rs. 299 to Rs. 1,499 — a house rate, applied by instruction, on tickets a physical shop actually charges. So the twenty-three picks below are ordered by what the shelf is doing rather than by category, and every one of them leads with the rupees. Our earlier reads of AJIO's ethnic discount spread and its sub-Rs. 799 kurta-set shelf cover the same aisle from other angles.

Every price below was pulled from AJIO on July 31, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our AJIO coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

“Fifteen garments, three unrelated sellers, one stated MRP of Rs. 4,345 — and eleven different prices under it.” Zoutons Editorial Team

How to shop a shelf where the MRP is a template

Four rules from a 443-listing read. First: sort by price and read the percentage last, or not at all. On the Rs. 4,345 shelf the deepest badge sat on the cheapest garment purely because the denominator never changed — 90% and 78% described the same sticker and different rupees. A percentage is only information when the number it is taken from is a price something has sold at. Second: before you buy, search the seller's other listings on the same stated MRP. It took us seconds to find that SVARAA prices five different anarkali sets at exactly Rs. 827, and that its Rs. 4,345 items span Rs. 652 to Rs. 956 — which means paying the top of a band for a garment the seller itself treats as equivalent is an easy, avoidable mistake. Third: price per stitched piece, not per set. A "3-piece kurta set" is a kurta, a bottom and a dupatta; a "2-piece" has no dupatta, and the Rs. 405 Nyrika set that looks like the page's biggest steal needs an Rs. 81 dupatta to be an outfit. On the sets in this read the honest figure ran Rs. 202 to Rs. 325 per stitched garment — carry that range to any ethnic shelf and it will tell you more than any badge. Fourth: treat a small badge as a signal, not a disappointment. The read's shallowest discounts — SOCH at 15%, AURELIA at 43%, AVAASA SET at 29% — all belong to labels with real shops and real ticket prices, which is precisely why there is no room for theatre. Our AJIO coupon page tracks live codes, and our first-order coupon guide and read on shared MRPs across two other AJIO aisles cover what stacks on top and where else this pattern shows up.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: the rest of the shared-MRP shelves, which we counted rather than seated — the eleven garments on a stated Rs. 3,499 selling Rs. 700 to Rs. 1,470, the ten on Rs. 3,999 selling Rs. 280 to Rs. 1,280, the nine on Rs. 2,999 selling Rs. 540 to Rs. 1,320, the eight on Rs. 2,598 selling Rs. 494 to Rs. 650 and the seven on Rs. 4,999 selling Rs. 800 to Rs. 1,600. The near-duplicate siblings we compare inside the picks instead of seating: SVARAA's four other Rs. 827 anarkalis, GOSRIKI's Rs. 714, Rs. 849 and Rs. 876 sets, SRILICA's Rs. 781 three-piece, the three MYRIE kurta sets at Rs. 720 and the three remaining Indie Picks sarees at Rs. 690. The expensive tail we noted and left: Nyrika's embellished saree at Rs. 2,728 off a stated Rs. 11,366, its Rs. 2,700 anarkali off Rs. 7,500, the KVS FAB embroidered gowns at Rs. 2,475 and Rs. 2,425, Saree mall's Kalamkari-design cotton at Rs. 2,200, SOCH's unstitched tribal dress material at Rs. 2,519 and the Ri-wah saree at Rs. 1,980 off Rs. 10,999. And the AVAASA stock we summarised rather than listed: the eighteen further MIX N' MATCH pieces at the flat 49% and the nine other 75% dupattas at Rs. 100 to Rs. 175, which repeat the two picks in chapter four without adding to them.

What we look for

We read AJIO's own women's ethnic listings

Every price, stated MRP and discount percentage on this page comes from ajio.com's own product feed on July 31, 2026 — 443 in-stock women's ethnic listings across kurta sets, anarkalis, sarees, salwar suits, dupattas and ethnic dresses, from 81 brands, priced Rs. 81 to Rs. 4,234 with a median of Rs. 720. Not one of the 443 listings carried a customer rating or a review count, so no pick on this page shows a rating pill. That absence is the platform's, not an omission of ours.

Then we counted how many listings shared each stated MRP

Four hundred and forty-three listings carried only 197 distinct stated MRPs, and the crowding was extreme at the top. Fifteen garments from three brands declare Rs. 4,345 and sell at Rs. 455 to Rs. 975. Ten declare Rs. 4,596 and sell at Rs. 689 to Rs. 1,379. Fourteen declare Rs. 2,998 — kurta sets and sarees alike — and sell at Rs. 600 to Rs. 809. When one sticker covers a Rs. 520 price range across unrelated sellers, the percentage beside it is arithmetic on a template, not a measure of a markdown.

And we separated the marketplace badges from the house-brand rate

AVAASA, Reliance Retail's own ethnic label, behaves differently: 22 of its 34 listings are marked down by exactly 49%, on stated MRPs of Rs. 299, Rs. 399, Rs. 999, Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,499 — one instruction applied to a catalogue. Ten more run at exactly 75%. Shop brands with physical stores behave differently again: SOCH wears the read's smallest badge at 15%, AURELIA runs 40-63%. Where a retailer sells the garment in a shop at the stated price, the percentage regains some meaning. Where it does not, it has none.

So every pick leads with the rupees and names what you actually get

Each pick states the price you pay, the MRP it is discounted from, and the garment specification — number of pieces, whether a dupatta is included, print or embroidery — because pieces and fabric are the units a buyer should be pricing. Stated MRPs are the sellers' own figures, which we report and do not verify as prices anything has sold at; several (Rs. 4,345 across three unrelated brands, Rs. 15,329 on a marketplace lehenga) we flag as implausible on their face. Prices read July 31, 2026, and can change without notice.

FAQs

Why do so many AJIO ethnic listings show the same MRP?

Because the stated MRP on a marketplace listing is entered by the seller, and sellers working from the same supplier base and the same category price bands frequently enter the same figure. In our July 31, 2026 read of 443 women's ethnic listings, only 197 distinct MRPs appeared. Fifteen garments from three unrelated brands all declared Rs. 4,345 while selling for Rs. 455 to Rs. 975 — Rs. 520 of real price movement on a sticker that never moved. The practical consequence is that the discount percentage is arithmetic on a shared template rather than a measure of a markdown, so the rupee price is the only figure worth comparing.

What is the cheapest kurta set on AJIO right now?

In our read of 443 listings on July 31, 2026, the cheapest complete kurta set was a Popmantra micro-print set at Rs. 219, followed by an ANNI DESIGNER straight kurta set at Rs. 210 — the two are nine rupees apart, though their badges read 89% and 85% because one seller declared a Rs. 1,995 MRP and the other Rs. 1,399. At this price the fabric is a light printed poly and the honest expectation is a season or two of regular wear. If you want a three-piece set with a dupatta included, the Rs. 600 Kiana and Rs. 652 SVARAA sets are the value band.

Is a 90% discount on an AJIO saree real?

Treat it as a description of the sticker, not the saree. Only five of the 443 listings we read reached 90% or higher, and every one got there by dividing a small price into a roughly four-thousand-rupee stated MRP. The read's deepest badge, 93%, sat on a Rs. 280 saree described as "Banarasi Silk" — and genuine handloom Banarasi does not exist at Rs. 280 in any market. As a Rs. 280 printed poly saree it is cheap and probably serviceable. As a Rs. 3,999 saree acquired for Rs. 280, it is a story the number is telling.

Why is AVAASA always exactly 49% off on AJIO?

Because AVAASA is Reliance Retail's own ethnic label rather than a marketplace seller, so its markdown is a house instruction applied across a catalogue instead of a percentage derived from a copied MRP. In our read, 22 of AVAASA's 34 listings were marked down by exactly 49%, on stated MRPs of Rs. 299, Rs. 399, Rs. 999, Rs. 1,299 and Rs. 1,499. A second, deeper ladder runs at exactly 75% and covers older stock — mostly dupattas, at Rs. 81 to Rs. 175. Watch that inversion: a 75% AVAASA dupatta costs Rs. 125 while a 49% one costs Rs. 203.

How should I compare ethnic sets that all show huge discounts?

Price per stitched piece, and ignore the percentage. A three-piece set is a kurta, a bottom and a dupatta; a two-piece has no dupatta and needs a second purchase to be an outfit. Across the full sets in our July 31, 2026 read the honest figure ran roughly Rs. 202 to Rs. 325 per stitched garment, with the best of them the Rs. 405 Nyrika two-piece at Rs. 202 a piece. Then check the seller's other listings on the same stated MRP — SVARAA prices five different anarkali sets at exactly Rs. 827, which tells you it considers them equivalent, so choose on the print and never pay the top of a band.

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, stated MRP and discount percentage here was read from AJIO's own product feed (ajio.com) on July 31, 2026 — 443 in-stock women's ethnic listings — and all of them can change without notice. None of the 443 listings displayed a customer rating with a review count, so no pick on this page carries a rating pill; the absence is the platform's, not an omission of ours. Our central counts — 197 distinct stated MRPs across 443 listings, fifteen garments on a stated Rs. 4,345, ten on Rs. 4,596, fourteen on Rs. 2,998, and 22 of AVAASA's 34 listings at exactly 49% — describe the listings returned to us on that date for the searches we ran; a different query set or a later pull would return a different sample and shift the figures. Per-piece and per-wear calculations are our own arithmetic on those listed prices. Stated MRPs are the sellers' own declared figures, which we report and do not verify as prices anything has sold at; where we describe an MRP as implausible, that is our editorial judgement about the number, not a claim about any seller's conduct. In observing that unrelated sellers declare identical MRPs and sometimes reach identical prices, we describe how the listings appear to a shopper and allege nothing about coordination, pricing practice or intent — shared supplier bases, common category price bands and platform listing templates are ordinary explanations we cannot see behind. Fabric names, weave descriptions, piece counts and embroidery claims are the listings' own. Comments on material behaviour — foil-spray prints dulling with washing, linen-cotton in humidity, the price floor of genuine handloom Banarasi and Chanderi, the expected life of a Rs. 219 kurta set — reflect general understanding of these fabrics rather than testing we have done. We have not handled or worn any garment on this page.
