AbhiBus publishes no cancellation charge. Its FAQ answers the question the same way every time — the terms vary by bus partner, and your bus's terms are on the selection screen before you pay.
What it does set is the structure around that: a cut-off tied to the bus's first boarding point, a paid Free Cancellation add-on worth 100 per cent of the base fare, and an ASSURED tier paying up to 150 per cent when an operator cancels.

No cancellation slab published - the charge is the bus partner's
Free Cancellation: 100% of base fare over 6 h out; the fee is not refunded
📅 Update log:
1 Sep 2026 — first published. Every rule, hour figure and percentage on this page is quoted from the answers published on abhibus.com/faq as read by a logged-out visitor on 1 September 2026, with no route, date or account entered. AbhiBus's /cancellation-policy and /terms-and-conditions URLs returned a generic page shell rather than policy text on that read, which is why the FAQ is the source throughout. The grouping into four refund regimes is ours; the terms, windows and percentages are AbhiBus's. We re-read this policy page and log what changes.
AbhiBus does not publish a cancellation charge. Its bus partners do.
This is the first thing to understand, and it is the thing every “AbhiBus cancellation charges” search is looking for. There is no rupee slab or percentage table on abhibus.com. The FAQ answers the question the same way every time: “Cancellation terms vary from bus partner to bus partner.”
What AbhiBus does commit to is where the number is shown. The refund terms for the specific bus you are looking at appear on the bus-selection screen while you book, again on the ticket printout, and again in the confirmation email. Those are the terms that will be applied, and they are visible before you pay.
The cut-off is a site-wide rule, though, and it catches people out: you can cancel up to the time the bus starts from its first boarding point on the day of travel — not up to your own boarding point. On a long route those can be several hours apart.
| Rule | What AbhiBus states |
|---|
| Cancellation cut-off | Before the bus starts from its first boarding point on the day of journey — not before your own boarding point |
| Where the charge is shown | On the bus-selection screen while booking, on the ticket printout and in the confirmation email — AbhiBus publishes no site-wide slab |
| Partial cancellation | Accepted by only some bus partners; done through the cancellation page, not by phone |
| Missed the bus | 100% refund only if the fault was AbhiBus's or the operator's. Arriving late or waiting at the wrong pickup point is explicitly excluded |
| Payment window | Seats are held for 10 minutes after selection; the order is voided after that |
| Assured claim window | Within 24 hours of the journey ending, filed through My Bookings |
💡 Read the refund terms on the bus-selection screen, not after booking. They are shown per bus, before payment, and they are the only place a rupee or percentage figure appears. Nothing on the site states a default.
Four different refund regimes can apply to one booking
The reason cancellation on AbhiBus is confusing is that four separate systems sit on top of each other, and three of the four are decided before you pay, not when you cancel.
Book normally and you get the bus partner's own terms — a partial refund, on their schedule. Tick the paid Free Cancellation add-on on the passenger-details page and you get 100 per cent of the base fare back if you cancel more than six hours out. Choose a bus carrying the ASSURED tag and you get the same six-hour full-base-fare protection without a separate add-on fee, plus a compensation ladder for things going wrong.
And if the operator cancels the service, none of that matters: AbhiBus states it refunds 100 per cent of the total amount paid, with no add-on required.
| Regime | What you must do first | If you cancel | What it costs |
|---|
| Default booking | Nothing | Partial — set by the bus partner, not by AbhiBus | Free |
| Free Cancellation add-on | Opt in on the passenger-details page, before payment | 100% of the base fare if you cancel more than 6 hours before departure | A fee shown before payment; not refunded |
| Abhi Assured bus | Pick a bus carrying the ASSURED tag | 100% of the base fare if you cancel more than 6 hours before departure | No separate fee stated |
| Operator cancels the service | Nothing | 100% of the total amount paid | Free |
₹ The Free Cancellation fee itself is not refunded. AbhiBus is explicit about this: “The ticket base fare is refunded back 100% however the Free cancellation charge will not be refunded.” The add-on price is shown in the updated fare before payment, so you can compare it against what the partner's own terms would cost you.
“Free Cancellation” means the base fare, and usually six hours
Free Cancellation is an opt-in paid add-on, selected after you have picked seats and boarding points, on the passenger-details page. Once taken, it appears marked on the booking voucher and in the email and WhatsApp copy of the ticket.
The window is more than 6 hours before the bus start time for most partners, and AbhiBus notes that with certain partners the benefit can be used up to 1 hour before departure. The FAQ tells you where the exact figure for your booking is printed: the passenger and journey review page at checkout, and the ticket copy sent by email or WhatsApp.
Cancel inside that window and AbhiBus says the refund is automatic, credited to the original payment mode, with no documents and no questions. Cancel outside it and you fall back to the bus partner's policy — the add-on does not partially help, it simply stops applying.
Abhi Assured pays out even if you took the trip
The Assured programme is the part of AbhiBus's terms with actual numbers in it, and it is the least-known. It applies only to buses tagged ASSURED at the time of booking, and it covers four situations.
The one worth knowing: if the bus arrives more than two hours late at your selected boarding point, AbhiBus states you can claim up to a 100 per cent refund — and its FAQ says this explicitly survives you boarding the bus. “Even if you avail the service, if the bus arrives after than ASSURED time, you will get up to 100% refund.”
If the operator cancels with no replacement, the stated compensation is up to 150 per cent of the booking: 100 per cent back to the original payment mode, and the remaining up to 50 per cent by UPI or as non-promotional AbhiCash, which is fully redeemable on bus bookings. Quality complaints are open-ended, 10 to 100 per cent, and AbhiBus says the figure depends on arbitration with the operator.
| Situation | What AbhiBus states you get | Condition |
|---|
| Bus arrives more than 2 hours late at your boarding point | Up to 100% refund | Claimable even if you boarded and travelled |
| Bus partner cancels the service with no replacement offered | Up to 150% of the booking | 100% to the original payment mode, the remaining up to 50% by UPI or non-promotional AbhiCash, your choice |
| Bus or crew quality below the Assured standard | 10% to 100% refund | AbhiBus: “depends on the arbitration between Abhibus and Bus partner”; photos, video or audio may be required |
| You cancel more than 6 hours before departure | 100% of the base fare | Under 6 hours it reverts to the bus partner's policy |
| You cancel only some passengers on the booking | Assured benefits still apply | For the travellers who remain booked |
⏰ Assured claims expire fast. Every Assured benefit must be claimed within 24 hours of the journey ending, filed through My Bookings. For delays and cancellations no evidence is required; for quality complaints AbhiBus may ask for photos, video or audio.
How long the money takes to come back
AbhiBus separates its own processing from the banking system's, and the gap between them is where the “where is my refund” complaints live.
AbhiBus says refunds are processed the same day or instantly in most cases, and the payment gateway transfers to your card or bank within 24 hours. After that it is out of their hands: 2 to 7 working days, depending on your bank, before it shows in your account.
The alternative is AbhiCash, the in-house wallet, where the refund lands instantly and can be spent on the next booking. Refunds parked there as non-promotional AbhiCash can also be transferred to another AbhiCash user, which promotional balance cannot. Our AbhiCash rules page covers what that balance can and cannot do.
| Stage | What happens | How long |
|---|
| You cancel | AbhiBus processes the refund | Same day, or instantly in most cases |
| Payment gateway | Transfers to your card or bank account | Within 24 hours |
| Your bank | Credits the money to your account | 2–7 working days, bank-dependent |
| Or: refund to AbhiCash | Credited to your AbhiBus wallet instead | Instant, usable on the next booking |
What this page cannot tell you, and why
AbhiBus publishes no rupee or percentage cancellation slab on its site, so this page does not contain one. Everything above is quoted from the answers on abhibus.com/faq as read on 1 September 2026; where AbhiBus says a term “varies from bus partner to bus partner”, we have reported that rather than substituting a number of our own. We did not sign in, search a route, make a booking, buy the Free Cancellation add-on or file an Assured claim, so nothing here confirms what any specific bus charges to cancel, what the Free Cancellation fee costs on a given route, whether a claim is paid, how quickly, or how “up to” resolves in practice. The word “up to” is AbhiBus's own and appears on every Assured figure, including the 100 per cent and the 150 per cent. Two further pages we checked — /cancellation-policy and /terms-and-conditions — returned a generic shell rather than policy text on the day we read them, which is why the FAQ is the source throughout.
What to actually do before you book
Three decisions, all made before payment, determine everything about a cancellation later.
First, read the refund terms on the bus-selection screen for the specific bus. That is the only place the real number appears, and it is there before you pay. Second, if the trip is at all uncertain, compare the Free Cancellation fee shown in the updated fare against what the partner's own terms would deduct — the add-on is worth it exactly when that deduction is larger than the fee. Third, if two buses are otherwise similar, the one with the ASSURED tag carries the delay and service-cancellation compensation at no separate stated cost.
And keep the timing rules straight: cancel before the bus leaves its first boarding point, keep the six-hour Free Cancellation window in mind, and file any Assured claim within 24 hours of the journey ending. Our AbhiBus versus RedBus comparison covers how the two platforms differ on offers, and the first booking offers page covers the codes that reduce the fare in the first place.
The short version
AbhiBus states no cancellation charge of its own — the deduction is the bus partner's, shown on the bus-selection screen before you pay. The site-wide rule is the cut-off: you can cancel until the bus starts from its first boarding point, not yours.
Three things change the outcome and all are chosen before payment: the paid Free Cancellation add-on (100% of base fare if you cancel more than 6 hours out; the fee itself is not refunded), the ASSURED tag (same 6-hour protection plus up to 100% for a 2-hour delay and up to 150% if the operator cancels), and nothing at all, which leaves you with a partial refund on the partner's terms.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are AbhiBus cancellation charges?
AbhiBus does not publish a cancellation charge of its own. Its FAQ states that “cancellation terms vary from bus partner to bus partner”, and the deduction that applies to your ticket is shown on the bus-selection screen while booking, on the ticket printout and in the confirmation email. The one site-wide rule is the deadline: a ticket can be cancelled until the bus starts from its first boarding point on the day of the journey, which on a long route may be well before your own boarding point. Read from abhibus.com/faq on 1 September 2026.
Is AbhiBus Free Cancellation worth it?
It depends on what the bus partner would otherwise deduct, which is shown before you pay. Free Cancellation is an opt-in paid add-on taken on the passenger-details page; with it, AbhiBus states you get 100% of the ticket base fare back if you cancel more than 6 hours before the bus start time (with some partners, up to 1 hour before), automatically and with no documents. Two caveats from AbhiBus's own wording: the base fare is refunded, not the total, and the Free Cancellation charge itself is not refunded. Outside the window, the partner's normal policy applies instead.
What is Abhi Assured and what does it pay?
Abhi Assured is a tag on selected buses that adds compensation on top of the normal refund rules. AbhiBus states: up to 100% refund if the bus arrives more than 2 hours late at your boarding point — claimable even if you travelled; up to 150% if the operator cancels with no replacement (100% to the original payment mode and the rest by UPI or non-promotional AbhiCash); 10% to 100% for bus or crew quality issues, which AbhiBus says depends on arbitration with the operator; and 100% of the base fare if you cancel more than 6 hours out. All claims must be filed through My Bookings within 24 hours of the journey ending.
How long does an AbhiBus refund take?
AbhiBus says refunds are processed the same day, or instantly in most cases, and that the payment gateway transfers the money to your card or bank account within 24 hours. After that it depends on your bank, which AbhiBus puts at 2 to 7 working days before the credit appears. Choosing a refund to AbhiCash instead is instant and can be spent on the next booking straight away, but AbhiCash can only be used on AbhiBus — it cannot be withdrawn to a bank account.
Do I get a refund if I miss the bus on AbhiBus?
Only if the fault was AbhiBus's or the operator's, in which case AbhiBus states it provides a 100% refund. Its FAQ explicitly excludes the common cases: “waiting at the wrong pickup point or arriving late at the pickup point is not considered for refund.” Separately, if the operator cancels the service, AbhiBus says it issues an immediate full refund and helps you rebook, and on an ASSURED bus the compensation for a cancelled service can run to up to 150% of the booking.
Prices & codes last verified: 1 September 2026
Every rule, time window, percentage and quoted phrase on this page was read from the answers published on abhibus.com/faq as rendered to a logged-out visitor on 1 September 2026, with no route, travel date, payment method or account entered, and is reported as published. AbhiBus does not publish a rupee or percentage cancellation slab anywhere we could find, and this page does not supply one; where AbhiBus states that a term varies by bus partner, that is what we report rather than an estimate of our own. The /cancellation-policy and /terms-and-conditions URLs returned a generic page shell rather than policy text on this read, so the FAQ is the sole source. The words "up to" are AbhiBus's own and appear on every Abhi Assured figure quoted here, including the 100 per cent and 150 per cent; they state a ceiling, not an amount you will receive. We did not sign in, search a route, select a bus, purchase the Free Cancellation add-on, cancel a ticket or file an Assured claim, so nothing here confirms what any particular bus charges to cancel, what the Free Cancellation fee costs on any route, whether any claim is approved, how much is paid, or how long a claim takes to settle. Free Cancellation and Abhi Assured availability depends on the bus partner and is shown at booking; the grouping of AbhiBus's terms into four regimes is our own editorial framing. Nothing here reports bus punctuality, service quality, seat comfort, safety or operator conduct, and no ranking between bus partners or booking platforms is made or implied. This page is not legal advice and does not create or alter any contractual right; the terms shown to you at booking and on your ticket are the ones that apply. AbhiBus changes its policies and add-on pricing without notice, so this is one day's read. Zoutons may earn a commission if you book through links on this page; it does not change what you pay, and nothing here was reviewed or approved by AbhiBus or any bus operator named.
