On the same three things, Amazon is roughly half the price
We read both shelves on the morning of 8 September 2026 — three Amazon searches (75 listings) and four Myntra listings (161) — and compared the three products both sites sell in volume: yoga mats, dumbbells and resistance bands.
Yoga mats: a median of Rs. 324 on Amazon against Rs. 799 on Myntra. Amazon's range starts at Rs. 199 for a 4mm anti-slip mat; Myntra's cheapest is Rs. 402, and its most-visible mats are CULT's, from Rs. 464. Dumbbells: a median of Rs. 749 against Rs. 1,801. Amazon's row starts at Rs. 151 for a 2kg pair and includes 20kg plate-and-rod combos at Rs. 749; Myntra's starts at Rs. 499 and its median listing is an adjustable set.
Resistance bands are the exception: Rs. 349 against Rs. 362, effectively a tie — though Myntra only has three comparable listings against Amazon's 25, so read that line as a small-sample note rather than a finding.
One structural reason for the gap: Myntra's fitness shelf is a fashion retailer's sports aisle, dominated by CULT, Decathlon and BOLDFIT at brand-set prices. Amazon's is a marketplace where Lifelong, Kore, Boldfit and dozens of unbranded sellers compete directly on the same search page.

The evidence gap is bigger than the price gap
Price is the smaller of the two differences here. Every one of the 75 Amazon listings we read carries a review count, and the medians are large: 692 reviews per mat, 1,714 per dumbbell listing, 2,163 per resistance band. The most-reviewed product on either shelf is an amazon basics rubber-encased hex dumbbell set at Rs. 1,619 with 33,978 ratings.
Myntra's comparable rows are far thinner. Its yoga mats run a median of 191 ratings, and its dumbbells row has a median of zero — more than half those listings carry no rating at all. Where Myntra does show a big number it is frequently pooled: six CULT mats priced Rs. 464 to Rs. 999 all display the same 4.24 from the same 1,683 ratings, so one score is doing duty for six products.
For gym equipment that matters more than it would for a t-shirt. Whether a mat is actually 6mm thick, whether a band snaps at month three, whether a hex dumbbell's rubber smells — these are things only a crowd of buyers reports, and on this comparison the crowd is overwhelmingly on Amazon.

Both discount badges are broken — in opposite ways
Neither platform's percentage is worth reading, and it is worth being precise about why, because the two failures are different.
Amazon's MRPs are arithmetically implausible on this shelf. Three listings show a stated MRP exactly one hundred times the price: a Rs. 150 mat bag against Rs. 15,000, a Rs. 249 resistance band against Rs. 24,900, a Rs. 178 loop-band set against Rs. 17,800. That pattern — a decimal error rather than a discount — is one we have seen before on Amazon consumables. Ten more listings show an MRP below the selling price: Rs. 199 against a stated Rs. 99, Rs. 17,499 against Rs. 29, Rs. 699 against Rs. 69. Whatever those fields contain, it is not a price this equipment ever sold at.
Myntra's MRPs are consistent but decorative. They do not break; they simply do not vary. ADRENEX runs a median 66% off, BOLDFIT 56%, CULT 51%, Decathlon 35%, NIVIA 2%, and HackerX shows 0% on all eight of its dumbbell listings. The badge is a house rule applied to a whole rack, not a response to anything.
The practical instruction is the same on both: compare the rupee prices in the table above and ignore the percentages entirely.

How to use both shelves
Buy the heavy things where the reviews are. Dumbbells, plate sets and adjustable kits are the listings where a manufacturing defect matters and where Amazon's review counts run into five figures. The median Amazon dumbbell listing has 1,714 reviews; the median Myntra one has none.
Buy the brand things where the brand lives. If you specifically want a CULT TPE mat or a Decathlon dumbbell, Myntra stocks the range properly, and its prices for those brands are set by the brand rather than by a marketplace auction.
Check the thickness and the weight, not the badge. On mats the number that changes the price is millimetres (4mm, 5mm, 6mm) and material (EVA, TPE); on dumbbells it is kilograms and whether the set is fixed or adjustable. Both shelves put those figures in the product title.

We read both shelves on the morning of 8 September 2026. On Amazon we ran three amazon.in searches — yoga mat, dumbbells and resistance band — sorted by popularity rank as served to a logged-out visitor in India, and took the first 25 organic results from each, 75 listings in total, excluding sponsored placements. On Myntra we read four listing pages — yoga-mat, gym-accessories, fitness-accessories and dumbbells — and took every product returned in the pages' own initial-state data, 161 listings. Prices, stated MRPs, discounts, ratings and rating or review counts are each platform's own displayed values, unaltered; the medians, ranges and groupings are ours. Amazon's yoga-mat search returns yoga bags alongside mats, and we excluded the bag listings from the mat comparison, leaving 18. Myntra has only three listings directly comparable to Amazon's resistance-band row, which the page states where that line appears.
What that means for what you can conclude. This compares what two shelves surfaced on one morning, not the full catalogue of either retailer, and not identical products: with the exception of a few shared brands, these are different listings from different sellers, so the medians describe what each shelf offers rather than the price of the same item in two places. A different query, sort order, session or day returns a different set, and prices change without notice — on Amazon, several times a day. For a heavy, shipping-sensitive item where manufacturing defects matter, that gap is the more important of the two.
Why do some Amazon fitness listings show a 99% discount?
Because the stated MRP on those listings is not a plausible price. On this shelf three listings showed an MRP exactly 100 times the selling price — a Rs. 150 yoga mat bag against Rs. 15,000, a Rs. 249 resistance band against Rs. 24,900 and a Rs. 178 loop-band set against Rs. 17,800 — which reads as a decimal error in the seller's data rather than as a discount. Ten further listings showed an MRP below the selling price, including Rs. 199 against a stated Rs. 99 and Rs. 17,499 against Rs. 29. The rupee price is the number to act on. We report these because a 99% badge should not be read as savings, not to suggest any seller set out to mislead.
