Amazon Walnut, Pista, Makhana and Dates Rates Per Kg, September 2026

Dry fruit is sold in 200g, 250g, 400g, 500g and 1kg packs at prices that look similar and are not, which normally means doing division in the aisle. On this shelf you mostly do not have to: 137 of the 150 listings we read on 26 September 2026 print Amazon's own per-100g rate underneath the price.

Use it, because the spread inside a single search is enormous. A kilo of dates costs between Rs. 290 and Rs. 1,790 - 6.2 times - with a median of Rs. 625. A kilo of raisins runs Rs. 470 to Rs. 1,810, median Rs. 670. Walnut kernels run Rs. 890 to Rs. 2,950, median Rs. 1,510. Makhana runs Rs. 770 to Rs. 2,000. Pistachios are the tightest shelf at Rs. 1,390 to Rs. 3,090, median Rs. 1,895.

One thing you will not find anywhere on this page: a discount percentage. These listings carry no meaningful MRP and nothing on this shelf is badged - the strike-through slot is occupied by the unit rate instead. So there is no sale to wait for and no percentage to be impressed by. There is only the rate and the rating count, which is a cleaner way to shop than most shelves allow.

We computed our own per-kilo figure from the weight each title states, then compared it with the rate Amazon prints. On 131 of the 137 they agree within ten per cent. On six they do not, and the gaps are large enough to matter.

Five of the six print a higher rate than the stated weight implies; one prints a lower one. A listing titled "1kg" whose printed rate works out to a 500g pack is telling you two different things, and we cannot tell you from the outside which of the two is the error - the title, the rate, or a pack change that only one of them has caught up with. We are not alleging anything; we are telling you where to look twice.

The practical rule: when the printed rate and your own division disagree, treat the listing as unresolved and check the product page's own weight field before buying. Five of these six are in the pistachio and walnut aisles, which are the two most expensive shelves here, so the rupee value of getting it wrong is highest exactly where the disagreements cluster.

Twenty-nine walnut listings printed a rate, and the band is Rs. 890 to Rs. 2,950 a kilo with a median of Rs. 1,510 - the second-dearest shelf in this read.

Pack size, not brand, does most of the work. Happilo's 500g inshell pouch is Rs. 890 a kilo; its 200g kernel pack is Rs. 1,890 - more than twice the rate from one brand in one search. Note that those are different products: inshell walnuts include the shell in the weight, kernels do not, which is a real difference and not a pricing trick. It is also the single biggest reason a walnut rate can look impossibly cheap.

Among kernels proper, the cheapest rates are broken or quarter grades - Chatorra Box at Rs. 1,110 a kilo, SFT broken at Rs. 1,190, LILA at Rs. 1,200 - and the dearest are 200g premium packs at Rs. 1,890 to Rs. 2,280. The largest rating count on this shelf, 21,359, belongs to Tulsi's 200g pack at Rs. 1,890 a kilo, which is the eleventh-dearest rate of the 29. The best-rated rate is not the cheapest rate.

Dates are the widest shelf here: Rs. 290 to Rs. 1,790 a kilo across 28 listings, a spread of 6.2 times, median Rs. 625.

Unlike the walnut shelf, the spread here tracks something the titles state plainly. Zahidi and ordinary Arabian dates sit at Rs. 290 to Rs. 390 a kilo; Kimia and Mazafati at Rs. 490 to Rs. 620; Fard and Omani at Rs. 550 to Rs. 790; Kalmi at Rs. 790 to Rs. 1,090; and Ajwa and Medjool at Rs. 1,590 to Rs. 1,790. That is a fairly orderly ladder, and the variety word in the title is the thing to read before the price.

The cheapest kilo in this entire read is Rs. 290, for Zahidi dates with 697 ratings at 3.3. The dearest date rate, Rs. 1,790 a kilo, is six times that. We make no claim about which variety is better, sweeter or worth the difference - we have not opened or tasted any of them. It is also the best-evidenced. Amazon's own Vedaka raisins at Rs. 359 for 500g - Rs. 710 a kilo - carry 26,725 ratings, the largest count anywhere in this read, and Nuts About You's Rs. 288 pack carries 13,296 at a cheaper Rs. 570 a kilo. Happilo's green raisins carry 9,663 at Rs. 590.

The bottom of this shelf is thinly evidenced, which is the familiar shape. The three cheapest rates - Rs. 470, Rs. 480 and Rs. 490 a kilo - carry no rating at all, ten ratings and sixteen ratings respectively. Between Rs. 470 and Rs. 710 a kilo you are choosing between a rate with nothing behind it and a rate with 26,725 ratings behind it, for a difference of Rs. 240 on a kilo.

Pistachios are the dearest shelf and the tightest: Rs. 1,390 to Rs. 3,090 a kilo across 28 listings, only 2.2 times from floor to ceiling, median Rs. 1,895. Makhana runs Rs. 770 to Rs. 2,000 a kilo across 23, median Rs. 1,170.

Makhana shows the pack-size effect more cleanly than anything else in this read. Every listing under Rs. 900 a kilo is a 500g or 1kg pack; every listing over Rs. 1,500 a kilo is a 200g or 250g one. A kilo bought as five 200g packs costs roughly twice a kilo bought as one 1kg pack. The 200g packs are also where the ratings are - Vedaka's 200g carries 10,855 and Tata Sampann's 2,581, against 14 and 56 on the two cheapest kilo packs.

One clean exception worth naming: Bolas prices its roasted salted pistachios at Rs. 1,740 a kilo in both the 200g and the 500g pack, and both listings carry the same 227 ratings - the same product in two sizes at one rate, which is unusual on this shelf and means the small pack costs you nothing extra per kilo.
