On 1 September 2026 we read every tablet listing on both shelves — 16 at Croma, 14 at Reliance Digital — and the two stores are not really competing for the same buyer.

Same category, two different shelves
We read both retailers' tablet listings on 1 September 2026 — Croma's own tablet search and Reliance Digital's tablet and ipad searches, no filters, no sort, no account signed in. That is 16 listings on Croma and 14 on Reliance Digital.
The headline difference is not price-per-model, it is what each store puts on the shelf. Reliance Digital's median listing is Rs. 21,249; Croma's is Rs. 45,499. Six of Reliance Digital's fourteen listings are under Rs. 20,000. Exactly one of Croma's sixteen is.
So the honest answer to "which is cheaper" starts with a different question: at your budget, does the store stock anything at all?

💡 Under Rs. 20,000, this is not a comparison. On the day we read them, Reliance Digital had six tablets in that band and Croma had one — the OnePlus Pad Lite Wi-Fi at Rs. 19,999.
The budget band belongs to Reliance Digital
Reliance Digital's floor is Rs. 11,999, and two separate listings sit there: a Redmi Pad SE (8.7-inch, 4GB/128GB) and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A9 (8.7-inch, Wi-Fi). Croma's floor is Rs. 19,999, Rs. 8,000 higher.
Between those two numbers Reliance Digital lists four more tablets — a cellular Galaxy Tab A9 at Rs. 15,999, a Galaxy Tab A9+ at Rs. 17,499, a OnePlus Pad Go at Rs. 17,999 and a realme Pad 2 at Rs. 19,499. Croma lists none of them.
None of these are the same product, so there is no price to compare. What there is is availability: a Rs. 12,000 budget buys a tablet at one of these two stores and not at the other, on the day we looked.

₹ Reliance Digital's deeper discounts sit on its cheaper hardware. Its median discount is 24 per cent against Croma's 11 per cent, but its four biggest cuts — 41, 41, 38 and 37 per cent — are on the realme Pad 2, Motorola Pad 60 Neo, Galaxy Tab A9+ and Lenovo M11. Croma's shelf is weighted toward Apple and Xiaomi listings that discount 4 to 11 per cent.
Above Rs. 35,000, they barely stock the same thing
Both retailers carry Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, OnePlus and Redmi. They almost never carry the same variant of the same model, which is what makes a straight price-versus-price table impossible to build honestly here.
The closest match on the day was the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Lite: Rs. 46,999 at Croma for the Wi-Fi+5G S Pen version, Rs. 41,999 at Reliance Digital for the Wi-Fi-only S Pen version. The Rs. 5,000 gap is buying cellular connectivity, not a better deal, and we are not calling it one.
At the top, the shelves diverge completely. Croma's ceiling is a Rs. 53,999 Xiaomi Pad 8 with the Focus Pen Pro; Reliance Digital's is a Rs. 88,291 13-inch iPad Air M3. On Apple specifically, Croma lists the A16 iPad at Rs. 47,900 and Reliance Digital lists the Air M3 from Rs. 55,691 — different tiers of iPad, not the same one priced differently.

Why we are not printing a single 'cheaper store' verdict
A store-versus-store price verdict only means something when both stores list the same SKU on the same day, and on 1 September 2026 these two shelves overlapped on brand but almost never on variant. The one near-match, the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite, differs in connectivity, so the Rs. 5,000 gap between Rs. 46,999 and Rs. 41,999 is explained by the 5G radio and cannot be read as one retailer undercutting the other. Everything else on these two shelves is either a different model, a different RAM/storage variant or a different Apple tier. What we can report is the shape of each shelf — how many listings, at what prices, in which bands — and that is what the tables above do. Which shelf to open first
Under Rs. 20,000, open Reliance Digital — on this day it was the only one of the two with a real selection there, six listings against one.
Between Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 45,000 both are worth reading, but for different things: Reliance Digital for the Lenovo Tab Plus at Rs. 23,999 and the Galaxy Tab S10 Lite Wi-Fi at Rs. 41,999, Croma for the OnePlus Pad Lite 5G at Rs. 22,999, the Redmi Pad 2 at Rs. 23,999 and the Xiaomi Pad 8 at Rs. 38,999.
Above Rs. 45,000 it is an Apple decision more than a store decision: Croma's A16 iPad at Rs. 47,900 against Reliance Digital's iPad Air M3 from Rs. 55,691 are different machines.
