Lenovo sells four laptop families in India and the names do more work than the spec sheets. ThinkPad is the business line - matte black, MIL-STD drop and temperature testing, the red TrackPoint, and the best keyboards on any laptop at any price. ThinkBook is ThinkPad's build discipline in an aluminium consumer shell, aimed at small businesses that want the durability without the fleet-management stack. IdeaPad is the mainstream volume line sold in every shop in the country. LOQ is entry and mid-range gaming, sitting below Legion.

The cheapest laptop here is not from the cheapest line. Both ThinkBooks open at Rs. 81,991 - below the Rs. 89,990 ThinkPad E16 and far below the Rs. 1,53,990 IdeaPad Slim 5i in this read. IdeaPad is Lenovo's mainstream line, but the model that surfaced on the deals page is a Core Ultra 9 configuration near the top of it. Cheap IdeaPads exist; they were not what Lenovo was promoting today.
Read the Stated MRPs Before You Read the Badges
Three different ThinkBooks in this read - a 14-inch Ryzen 5, a 16-inch Ryzen 5 and a 14-inch Intel Core 5 - all state a list price of Rs. 1,70,001 or Rs. 1,69,991. So does the ThinkCentre all-in-one desktop, which is a different category of product entirely. The X1 Carbon states Rs. 3,20,001 and the Idea Tab Pro Rs. 75,001.
Those trailing digits are the tell. Retail list prices do not end in 001; they end in 990, 900 or 999, because they are set to look like prices. A number ending in 001 has been produced by working backwards from a target discount percentage. Three physically different machines sharing one list price is the same evidence from another direction - the figure is attached to the badge, not to the product.
This does not mean the selling prices are bad. Rs. 81,991 for a Ryzen 5 ThinkBook with 16GB and a 512GB SSD is a competitive price in the Indian market on its own terms. It means the 51 per cent is arithmetic over two numbers Lenovo controls, and the honest way to judge the machine is against what other brands charge for the same silicon - not against Rs. 1,70,001.
The best laptop here has the smallest discount. The X1 Carbon Gen 13 - Core Ultra 7, 32GB, 1TB, Windows 11 Pro, and the most genuinely premium machine on this page - carries the lowest badge in the read at 13 per cent. The ThinkBooks carry 51. A price that Lenovo defends does not need an inflated list price behind it; a price it is pushing volume at does.
Which Line to Buy, by What You Do
- You type all day and keep laptops five years. ThinkPad. The E16 at Rs. 89,990 is the affordable entry to the line and carries the keyboard and the MIL-STD testing; the X1 Carbon at Rs. 2,76,991 is three times the price for a 1.1kg chassis, 32GB, a 1TB drive and Windows 11 Pro. Most people who want a ThinkPad want the E series.
- You want ThinkPad build at the lowest price. ThinkBook, at Rs. 81,991. You give up the TrackPoint, the full Pro management stack and some of the service tier. You keep the aluminium chassis and the keyboard quality. The 16-inch costs the same as the 14-inch in this read, which is unusual and worth taking.
- You need a discrete GPU. LOQ. The Rs. 1,10,790 Essential has an RTX 3050 with 6GB, which is a 1080p-medium card in 2026. The Rs. 1,65,991 model has an RTX 5050 with 8GB, a current generation part - and the extra Rs. 55,000 buys a real jump rather than a clock bump. If gaming is the point, buy the second one or wait.
- You want maximum specification per rupee. IdeaPad, but not the configuration in this read. The Slim 5i here is a Core Ultra 9 at Rs. 1,53,990; the line's value sits well below that, in Core i5 and Ryzen 5 machines that did not surface on the deals page today. - Windows 11 Pro matters to you. Only the X1 Carbon in this read states Pro. Everything else is Home. Upgrading later costs money, and Pro is what you need for BitLocker, domain join and Remote Desktop hosting.
How we read these prices, and what Lenovo's pages do not say
Lenovo's India deals cards are rendered client-side, so a plain fetch of lenovo.com returns markup with no prices in it at all. These figures were read on 25 August 2026 through a headless browser session that waits for those cards to populate, and each row carries the model name, configuration string, selling price, stated list price and badge exactly as Lenovo printed them. Ten items came back; the nine laptops and desktops are tabled above and an Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 tablet at Rs. 47,999 against a stated Rs. 75,001 is not, because this page is about laptops.
What Lenovo's pages do not state, and this article therefore cannot: how long any of these prices last, whether a stated MRP was ever charged anywhere, what the same configuration costs through Croma, Reliance Digital or Amazon on the same day, warranty tier per model beyond what the card shows, and screen panel specifications - brightness, colour gamut and refresh rate are absent from every card in this read, and on a laptop the panel is the component you look at all day. Ignore the badges.
