Amazon lists 14 laptops under Rs. 50,000. Croma lists two. That gap, read on the same afternoon from both retailers' own search results, is the clearest thing in this data — and it is about stock, not about pricing.
Not one model appeared on both shelves, so there is no like-for-like comparison here and we do not pretend otherwise. Below: the eleven series that do appear on both, where their prices nearly meet, and why one shelf has no usable ratings at all.

Both shelves were read on 3 September 2026 as a logged-out visitor in India with nothing purchased: Croma from its own search service for laptop and gaming laptop, two pages each, and Amazon from search results for six laptop queries, with 43 of 95 rows removed as duplicates, non-laptops or rows without a valid MRP. Both retailers re-rank and re-price continuously, so we re-read both shelves and log what has changed here.

We read both shelves on the same afternoon, 3 September 2026: 52 laptops from Amazon's search results and 68 from Croma's own search service, using comparable general laptop searches on each.
The single biggest difference is at the bottom. Fourteen of Amazon's 52 are under Rs. 50,000; two of Croma's 68 are. Under Rs. 60,000 it is 23 against four. Croma's median laptop is Rs. 1,03,990; Amazon's is Rs. 63,090.
That is a difference in what each retailer chooses to stock and surface, not a difference in what they charge for the same machine — a distinction this page takes seriously, because not one model code appeared on both shelves in these pulls. There is no like-for-like price comparison to make here, and we are not going to manufacture one.

Where both stock the same series, the prices nearly meet
Eleven product series appear on both shelves. On the closest of them the two retailers are within a rounding error of each other: an Acer Aspire 5 is Rs. 72,490 at Croma and Rs. 72,990 at Amazon, Rs. 500 apart. A Lenovo LOQ gaming laptop is Rs. 1,21,990 and Rs. 1,22,200 — Rs. 210 apart.
Where Amazon is genuinely cheaper, it is on the budget thin-and-lights it stocks more deeply: the Aspire Lite at a median Rs. 51,999 against Croma's Rs. 65,990 (Amazon lists seven of them, Croma one), and the IdeaPad Slim 3 at Rs. 70,345 against Rs. 79,990 (six against one). Croma is cheaper on the Aspire 3 by Rs. 2,400.
Read those as indicative rather than exact. A series is not a configuration: two “Aspire Lite” listings can differ by processor, memory and storage, and the medians below are medians of whatever each retailer happened to stock. They tell you where each shelf sits, not what a specific machine costs in two places.

The Rs. 35,990 to Rs. 50,000 band exists only on Amazon
Amazon's budget shelf is real but it is narrow in what it offers. Of the 14 laptops under Rs. 50,000, seven are Acer Aspire One or Aspire Lite machines, and five of those run an Intel Celeron N4500 or an AMD Athlon Silver — entry processors suitable for a browser and documents, not for much else.
The cheapest genuinely branded laptop is an Acer Aspire One at Rs. 35,990. There is also an unbranded “EBook” 11.6-inch at Rs. 11,990, which we have left out of the branded comparison above because it is not in the same category of machine. Croma's two sub-Rs. 50,000 laptops are an Acer Celeron at Rs. 37,490 and an HP Core i3 at Rs. 39,994.
Note the badges in this table go in both directions: 53% on the Lenovo V15, 49% on an Aspire One, but 9% on the HP 255, 5% on a Dell Inspiron and 0% on an HP 250R at Rs. 49,699 (against a stated Rs. 49,778, a Rs. 79 difference). The percentage is not tracking value on this shelf either.

Croma's ratings are effectively absent. Amazon's are thin but real
This is the difference that should change how you shop, more than any price above. On Croma's laptop aisle, 83 of 98 listings carry no customer rating at all, and the highest rating count on the entire aisle is three.
Amazon's are not abundant either — the median laptop listing there has 13 ratings — but nine of the 52 have 100 or more, three have 500 or more, and the busiest has 959. That is enough to be worth reading on those specific machines, and it is nine more usable data points than the other shelf has.
Neither number is a reason to buy from one retailer over the other. It is a reason to do your reading before you get to either checkout: if you have chosen a model at Croma, its reviews are somewhere else, and our Croma laptop page and Amazon laptop discounts page both go into what the ratings on each aisle actually support.

💡 The brand medians above are not head-to-head either. Amazon's HP median is Rs. 61,700 and Croma's Rs. 1,08,990 largely because Croma stocks HP's OMEN and Victus gaming machines heavily while Amazon's HP rows here are mostly 255-series notebooks. Compare the series table instead of the brand table when you want a price signal.

Amazon's 52 were read from amazon.in search results the same afternoon for the queries laptop, gaming laptop, hp laptop, lenovo laptop, acer laptop and dell laptop; 95 rows were pulled and 43 removed as duplicates across queries, as accessories or e-readers rather than laptops, or as rows carrying no stated MRP above the selling price. Both were read as a logged-out visitor in India with nothing purchased and no account used. Every price, maximum retail price, discount percentage, rating and rating count is the retailer's own displayed figure; medians, counts and gaps are ours.
What that means for what you can conclude, and it is a real limitation. No model code appeared on both shelves in these pulls, so nothing here is a like-for-like price comparison and no statement on this page should be read as “retailer X is cheaper for this laptop”. The series-level rows compare medians of different configurations that share a marketing name, which is why the wide-gap rows are flagged explicitly as configuration differences. Neither pull is a full catalogue; Amazon personalises and re-ranks results continuously and your results will differ from ours, and Croma's search returns the discounted part of its aisle rather than everything it sells. What to do with this before you buy
If your budget is under Rs. 50,000, start at Amazon — and read the processor. It is where the machines at that price are (14 against two), but five of those 14 run a Celeron N4500 or an Athlon Silver. The chip, not the price, is what will decide whether the laptop is usable in two years.
Between Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 1,25,000, check both. This is where the shelves overlap most and where the prices nearly meet — Rs. 500 apart on the Aspire 5, Rs. 210 on the LOQ. At that distance the decision is made by exchange value, bank offer, EMI terms and who can deliver and service it, none of which is in the data on this page.
Do your review-reading before you choose the retailer. Croma's listings will not help you: 83 of 98 have no rating and none has more than three. Find reviews of the exact model number elsewhere, then buy wherever the total cost after offers is lower.

On this reading, Amazon — it listed 14 laptops under Rs. 50,000 against Croma's two. The cheapest branded machine was an Acer Aspire One at Rs. 35,990, and the band also held HP's 255 Notebook at Rs. 43,950 (4.0 from 236 ratings) and a Lenovo V15 G4 at Rs. 46,999 (4.0 from 379). Read the processor before the price: five of those 14 run an Intel Celeron N4500 or an AMD Athlon Silver, which are entry-level chips. Croma's two were an Acer Celeron at Rs. 37,490 and an HP Core i3 at Rs. 39,994.
Why does Croma's laptop shelf look so much more expensive?
Because of what it stocks rather than what it charges. Croma's aisle is weighted towards gaming laptops (nine Lenovo LOQ listings, five HP Victus, four OMEN, four Asus TUF) and, on its wider searches, MacBooks — all of which start high. Amazon's is weighted towards budget thin-and-lights: seven Aspire Lite listings, six IdeaPad Slim 3, five Aspire One. Where the two shelves carry the same series, the prices are close and sometimes almost identical. Both retailers also apply bank offers, exchange values and EMI terms at checkout, none of which is visible in listing data.
Do laptop discounts mean anything on either site?
Not much on their own. Amazon's median badge was 26% and Croma's 19%, but on Amazon's under-Rs. 50,000 shelf alone the badges ran from 53% down to 0% — an HP 250R at Rs. 49,699 against a stated Rs. 49,778, a difference of Rs. 79. On Croma, HP and Acer run a median 28% while Apple's listings are 7% or 3% and never anything else. In both cases the percentage is largely a function of the stated maximum retail price the brand sets, which we cannot verify was ever a live selling price. Can I rely on customer ratings when buying a laptop online?
On these two shelves, barely. Croma's laptop listings had no ratings on 83 of 98 machines, and the highest count anywhere on that aisle was three.
