Flipkart BBD Curtain Raiser 2026: Early Access Five Days Before Oct 9

Flipkart's own Big Billion Days landing page, read on 21 September 2026, states the date in plain words: "The upcoming Big Billion Days sale will kick off on 9th October 2026". That part is settled and we have reported it before.

What is new on the page is a named pre-sale programme, and the piece of it worth knowing about is the Curtain Raiser. In Flipkart's words it "provides you with an early opportunity, with selected products opening up at BBD rates five days before the main sale". Five days before 9 October is 4 October 2026 - though that subtraction is ours. Flipkart publishes the interval and not the date.

In other words, if you are waiting for the ninth to buy something, there is a chance the thing you want is already at its sale price on the fourth. That is the entire practical point of this page.

Five activities are described by name on the landing page. Only one of them - the main sale - has a date attached to it. The rest are described but not scheduled, which is worth seeing laid out, because the gap between 'named' and 'dated' is where most sale coverage starts guessing.

Flipkart describes it as "selected products opening up at BBD rates" - that is, a subset of the catalogue sold at sale prices before the sale formally starts. The page does not say which products, how many, for how long, or whether the price then holds through the main sale.

So the useful behaviour is simple and does not require knowing any of that: note the price of the thing you want now, before any of this begins, and check it again in early October. The other named activities are promotional rather than transactional. The SuperCoin funfair is described as tasks that earn SuperCoins - Flipkart's loyalty currency, which is a separate subject and one we have covered. The BBD Countdown Cheat Sheet "reveals category-wise deals every hour", which is a teaser mechanic. Neither changes what a product costs.

This is the part most Big Billion Days coverage fills in from last year, from a press release or from another website. We have read one page - Flipkart's own - and these are the things it does not say:

• An end date. The page names a start and says nothing at all about how long the sale runs.
• A Curtain Raiser date. Flipkart publishes the interval - five days before the main sale - and not the date itself. Four October is our subtraction, not Flipkart's announcement.
• Which products open early. The wording is "selected products" and no category, brand or model is named.
• Any discount figure. Not one percentage, price or "up to" claim appears in the page's own copy. The deal grid on the page reads "Top deals coming soon".
• A Flipkart Plus early-access time. Plus members have had a head start in past years, but this landing page does not mention one for 2026.
• Bank offer details. No card partner, no instant-discount figure and no cap is named on this page.

Flipkart's page makes one suggestion of its own and it happens to be the correct one: build a wishlist. In its words, a wishlist means that "when the sale starts, you don't have to start your hunt from scratch; you can return to the products you saved, compare their specs, and see the price and offers available". It names laptops, smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, televisions, headphones, kitchen appliances and air conditioners as the sort of purchase worth planning.

We would add one thing to that, which Flipkart has no reason to suggest: write the price down. A wishlist shows you today's price today. It does not show you what the price was three weeks ago, and on a shelf where a discount badge is arithmetic over a number the seller chose, the pre-sale price you recorded yourself is the only honest benchmark you will have on 9 October.
