Across the twenty-two listings that state both figures, amps and price correlate at -0.08 — the cheapest fifteen-amp unit here is Rs. 1,414 and the dearest six-amp one is Rs. 5,389. The number that does explain this shelf is the working voltage range in brackets, which correlates with price at +0.71. Seven twelve-amp units for the same air conditioner sell 2.3x apart.

We read the amps rating against the price, and found nothing
Twenty-two of the twenty-five listings state both an amps rating and a working voltage range in the title, so both can be tested against what Croma charges. The amps rating and the selling price have a correlation of -0.08 — statistically, no relationship at all. The clearest proof is on the shelf itself: the cheapest 15 Amps unit costs Rs. 1,414 and the dearest 6 Amps unit costs Rs. 5,389. More than twice the rating, for a quarter of the money. Whatever the amps number is telling you, it is not telling you the price.
We measured the voltage window instead, and it explains the shelf
Subtract the low figure from the high one in each title — 170-270V is a 100V window, 130-300V is a 170V one — and the picture resolves. Window width against price correlates at +0.71. Grouped into bands: the six narrow 100-110V units have a median price of Rs. 1,736, the nine mid 120-135V units Rs. 2,799, and the seven wide 145-170V units Rs. 3,154. You are buying how far the mains can fall before the box stops holding, and that is the specification worth reading.
We compared listings that share a rating and a duty
Seven of these twenty-five are 12 Amps units for a 1.5-ton air conditioner — the same number for the same job — and they sell at Rs. 1,999, Rs. 2,490, Rs. 2,799, Rs. 2,994, Rs. 3,849, Rs. 4,124 and Rs. 4,574.
