Croma sells gift cards in two forms, and the difference between them is worth real money. We read the retailer's own published terms on 16 September 2026 — the physical gift card page, the electronic gift voucher page and the payments section of its FAQ — and the two instruments are identical on every headline number: Rs. 500 minimum, Rs. 50,000 maximum online, multiples of a hundred, 365 days of validity, redeemable both in store and on croma.com.
They part company on one line. The Electronic Gift Voucher, Croma says, “has to be utilized in one single transaction and the balance will not be carried forward”. The physical card “can be used multiple times until expiry” and can be topped up. Everything below is Croma's own wording on what each one does, what a refund turns into, and why a bank voucher worth more than your bill is money you will not see again.
🎁 Croma gift instruments, read 16 September 2026
Gift Card: reusable. E-Gift Voucher: one transaction only
Unspent EGV balance is forfeited after the first redemption
📅 Update log:
16 Sep 2026 — first published. Every rule on this page was read from croma.com's own terms pages for physical gift cards and electronic gift vouchers, and from the payments section of its FAQ, on 16 September 2026, logged out, in India. Croma states it may amend these terms at any time; we re-read the pages periodically and will log changes here.
Two Croma gift instruments, and only one of them keeps your change
Croma sells two gift products that read almost identically on the page. The Gift Card is a physical card you can buy in a store or on croma.com. The Electronic Gift Voucher, or EGV, is an emailed code sold only on croma.com. Both start at Rs. 500, both stop at Rs. 50,000 online, both are sold in multiples of Rs. 100, both last 365 days, both carry a 16-digit number and a 6-digit PIN, and both can be spent in a Croma store or on the website.
One difference matters more than all of that. Croma's published terms for the Electronic Gift Voucher state that it “has to be utilized in one single transaction and the balance will not be carried forward”, and the FAQ on the same page repeats it: “any amount balance in the EGV will not be carried forward. The entire amount needs to be redeemed.”
The physical Gift Card does the opposite. Croma's own summary says it “can be used multiple times until expiry” and that “additional amount can be reloaded at Stores” and on croma.com. Same brand, same money, same year of validity — and on one of them, a Rs. 10,000 voucher spent on a Rs. 8,200 microwave is a Rs. 1,800 donation.
| Physical Gift Card | Electronic Gift Voucher |
|---|
| Where you can buy it | croma.com and Croma stores | croma.com only |
| Minimum value | Rs. 500 | Rs. 500 |
| Maximum value | Rs. 50,000 online, Rs. 1,00,000 in store | Rs. 50,000 |
| Denomination | Multiples of Rs. 100 | Multiples of Rs. 100 |
| Validity | 365 days from activation | 365 days from issuance |
| Can it be reloaded? | Yes, at stores and on croma.com | No |
| Can it be used more than once? | Yes, multiple times until expiry | No — one transaction only |
| What happens to an unspent balance | Stays on the card until expiry | Forfeited after the first redemption |
| Activation | Handed over or shipped, then activated | Recipient must send an SMS: GCACT <16-digit number> <6-digit PIN> to 7200666000 |
| Delivered to | Recipient's postal address | Recipient's email address |
| How many per invoice | Five | Five |
| Redeemable at Croma airport stores | No | No |
The practical rule: if you are buying a gift for someone, buy the physical card. If you have been sent an EGV, work out a basket that lands as close above its value as you can manage — Croma lets you pay any shortfall with a card, net banking or a wallet, so overspending costs you nothing while underspending costs you the difference.
What happens when you return something you paid for with a gift card
You do not get money back. Croma's terms for both instruments say the refund is made “to the effect of the value of contribution of the Gift card to the sale”, and that the re-issue is made as an Electronic Gift Voucher — sent to the email address and mobile number used at checkout.
Read that together with the EGV rule above and the consequence is unpleasant but clear: a refund on a gift-card purchase arrives as an instrument that must be spent in one go. If you bought a Rs. 14,000 television with a physical Gift Card and returned it, what comes back is an EGV for the gift card's share of that sale, and the next thing you buy with it has to use all of it.
Two further lines sit in both documents. “No refund, replacement or cash back would be considered against the Gift Card” — the instrument itself cannot be converted to money. And “once Gift Card is issued, the company will not entertain any request from anybody for its cancellation”. Buying the wrong denomination is not reversible.
⚠️ One inconsistency worth knowing. The terms for the physical card say it “can't be replaced or duplicated, if lost or stolen” and that it “should be treated like cash”. The FAQ directly above those terms says that if a card is reported lost or stolen you should notify the call centre, and that after verification and deactivation of the old card a replacement follows. Both statements are Croma's, published on the same page on the day we read it. If you lose a card, ring 1860-266-27662 rather than assuming either version applies.
The bank and employer vouchers work differently again
MyGyftr vouchers — the codes banks and employers hand out as rewards — are accepted on croma.com and in stores, and Croma's FAQ states their rules plainly. They are “for One time use only and if the MyGyftr voucher value is more than the bill value, remaining amount will be forfeited”. A maximum of five codes can be used in a single transaction, and a code is alphanumeric with a maximum length of twelve characters.
You also cannot mix instruments. Croma states that MyGyftr vouchers and gift cards “cannot redeem in a single invoice”, that no two cards or prepaid modes can be combined in one payment, and that two payment offers cannot be clubbed on a card at the time of purchase. If the voucher covers less than the cart, the balance can go on a credit card, debit card, net banking or a wallet — but only one of those.
Croma adds a caveat of its own on acceptance: it “makes full efforts to accept all Instant Gift Vouchers but on account of technical / administrative reasons, the website may refuse to accept vouchers”. If a code fails at checkout, that is the published position rather than an error on your side.
| MyGyftr voucher rule | What Croma's FAQ says |
|---|
| Use | One time only, per voucher |
| If the voucher is worth more than your bill | The remaining amount is forfeited |
| Maximum codes in one transaction | Five |
| Code format | Alphanumeric, maximum 12 characters |
| Where | Croma stores and croma.com |
| Can it share an invoice with a Croma gift card? | No |
Activating an EGV, and the numbers you will need
An Electronic Gift Voucher does not work out of the box. Croma's terms state that the recipient must activate it, because the OTP is generated against the recipient's account details, and that activation is done by SMS in a fixed format: GCACT <space> 16-digit voucher number <space> 6-digit PIN, sent to 7200666000.
The email you receive carries the 16-digit voucher number, the 6-digit PIN and the expiry date. Croma's instruction on both documents is the obvious one and is worth repeating because gift-card fraud in India runs on exactly this: do not share the OTP or the PIN with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from Croma. The FAQ elsewhere states that “the Croma team will never request you to share any of your card or account related details over email or over phone”.
For a physical card, reloading is a four-step flow on croma.com — choose Physical Gift Card, select the Re-load tab, fill in the fields, then pay. Croma notes that if a reload fails, “we will refund the debit amount to the original mode of payment”.
Every other gift-card rule Croma publishes, in its own words
- Neither instrument can be redeemed at Croma airport stores. The line appears on the physical-card page and covers both.
- A defaced, torn, altered, spoiled or cancelled Gift Card is invalid and will not be accepted.
- The original card must be presented to the cashier before final billing in a store.
- Redemption by the bearer discharges Croma's liability. Whoever holds the card can spend it, which is the legal way of saying: treat it like cash.
- If the purchase exceeds the card value, the difference is paid by net banking, credit card, debit card or another available mode.
- Five is the limit on gift cards, and separately on EGVs, in a single invoice.
- Disputes go to Croma and Croma's decision is final, with exclusive jurisdiction at the courts in Mumbai. The issuer is Infiniti Retail Ltd, which is also the name your card statement shows for any Croma purchase.
- Croma may amend these terms at any time, with changes published on the website.
- Balance and expiry checks go through any Croma store, croma.com, or the care numbers 1860-266-27662 and 040-46517910.
So which should you buy, and what should you do with one you have been given?
Buying a gift: choose the physical Gift Card. It survives being spent in parts, it can be topped up, and the recipient is not forced to build a basket around it. The only reason to prefer the EGV is speed — it arrives by email rather than by post.
Holding an EGV: spend all of it at once, slightly over rather than under. The shortfall can go on any other payment method; the surplus cannot be recovered. Check the balance before you shop, because the entire amount is consumed at the first redemption regardless of what you spend.
Holding a bank or employer voucher: the same rule, harder. One use, five codes maximum, no mixing with a Croma gift card, and any excess over the bill is gone. And if you are planning to pair a voucher with a bank offer, you cannot — Croma states that two payment offers cannot be clubbed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Croma gift card expire?
Yes. Croma's published terms give both instruments a validity of 365 days — measured from the date of activation for the physical Gift Card and from the date of issuance for the Electronic Gift Voucher — “or depends on the T&C of the purchase”. You can check the balance and the expiry date at any Croma store, on croma.com, or through Croma care on 1860-266-27662 or 040-46517910.
What happens to the balance left on a Croma e-gift voucher?
It is forfeited. Croma's terms for the Electronic Gift Voucher state that it “has to be utilized in one single transaction and the balance will not be carried forward”, and the FAQ on the same page confirms that after the first redemption any remaining amount is not carried forward. The physical Gift Card is the opposite: Croma says it “can be used multiple times until expiry” and can be reloaded at stores and on croma.com. If you hold an EGV, spend the whole value in one purchase and pay any shortfall with another method.
Can I get a refund in cash on a Croma gift card?
No. Croma states that “no refund, replacement or cash back would be considered against the Gift Card”, and the same line appears in the Electronic Gift Voucher terms. If you return a product that you paid for with either instrument, the refund is made to the value the gift card contributed to that sale and is re-issued as an Electronic Gift Voucher to the email and mobile number used at checkout — which then carries the one-transaction rule with it.
How many gift cards or vouchers can I use on one Croma order?
Five. Croma's gift-card FAQ says “only 5 Gift Cards can be redeemed in a single invoice” and the EGV page says the same for vouchers. MyGyftr vouchers are also capped at five codes per transaction. What you cannot do is mix them: Croma states that MyGyftr vouchers and gift cards cannot be redeemed in a single invoice, that no two cards or prepaid modes can be combined, and that two payment offers cannot be clubbed on one card.
How do I activate a Croma e-gift voucher?
The recipient has to do it by SMS. Croma's terms give the exact format: GCACT <space> the 16-digit voucher number <space> the 6-digit PIN, sent to 7200666000. The OTP is generated against the recipient's own details, so the person whose email received the voucher has to activate it. The voucher email contains the 16-digit number, the 6-digit PIN and the expiry date; Croma's instruction is not to share the OTP or PIN with anyone.
Can I buy a Croma gift card worth more than Rs. 50,000?
Only in a store. Croma's terms cap an online purchase at Rs. 50,000 for both the physical Gift Card and the EGV, with a minimum of Rs. 500 and denominations in multiples of Rs. 100. At a Croma store a physical Gift Card can be bought for up to Rs. 1,00,000. For anything larger, Croma's pages point to a bulk gift card enquiry contact.

Every rule, value, validity period, format and contact number on this page was read on 16 September 2026 from Croma's own published pages at croma.com — the physical gift card terms, the electronic gift voucher terms and the payments section of the customer FAQ — as served to a logged-out visitor in India, with nothing purchased, no gift card bought and no voucher redeemed. Quotations are reproduced from Croma's own wording; the summaries, the comparison table and the worked examples are our reading of those published terms. Where Croma's pages state two different things about the same subject — as they do on replacing a lost physical card — both statements are reported rather than reconciled. Croma states that it may amend these terms at any time and that any change will be published on its website, so the rules that apply to your card are the ones published on the day you use it; readers should confirm current terms, balances and expiry dates with Croma before relying on anything here. Nothing on this page is legal or financial advice, no dispute outcome is predicted, and nothing here alleges wrongdoing by Croma, by Infiniti Retail Limited, by MyGyftr or by any bank or employer that issues vouchers; forfeiture of an unspent balance is described because Croma publishes that rule itself. Product prices, gift-card denominations, promotional offers and contact numbers change without notice.
