21 Croma Gadget Picks, and Why the Discount Badge Is Really a Clock

Zoutons Picks — Croma Gadgets, July 2026

PlayStation 4 games at 68% off. PlayStation 5 games at 19%. The same GoPro range from 46% to 16%. Apple never past 16%. The badge is measuring years, not value.

Prices & codes last verified July 28, 2026

The short of it Croma's gadget aisles, read across 156 listings on July 28 — and the badge is a clock. The proof: a 2017 game at 68%, a 2025 one at 19%. The value spot: a two-generation-old GoPro at 33%. The control group: a 2026 iPad Pro at 2% off. The cheap buy: an AMOLED smartwatch at Rs. 1,999.

We read 156 phones, tablets, cameras, games and smartwatches from Croma's own search API on July 28, and across all five categories the discount badge turned out to be doing one job: telling you how long ago the product was replaced. Video games prove it most cleanly, because release dates are public and nobody disputes them. Our four PlayStation 4 titles came back at 68%, 60%, 50% and 44% off; the seven PlayStation 5 titles at 48%, 34%, 30%, 24%, 19% and 13%. The two generations barely overlap, and not one thing about how good those games are changed when the console did. GoPro repeats the pattern inside a single range from a single manufacturer with an identical waterproof rating — the entry Hero at 46%, the Hero12 at 33%, the current Hero13 at 16% — which is about as controlled as a comparison gets outside a laboratory. Phones ran from 50% down to 3% across 32 listings and sorted almost perfectly by launch date, with a just-launched Redmi Note 15 Pro at 3% and a vivo approaching its annual refresh at 38%. And then the control group: seventeen Apple listings, not one above 16% off, eight separate iPads at exactly 5%, and the two products that did reach 16% being the two oldest things Apple has on the page. The practical consequence is worth stating plainly — if you sort Croma's gadget aisle by discount, you are sorting it by age, and the top of that list is where last year's hardware lives. Sometimes that is exactly what you want; the Hero12 at 33% is the best buy in this article. Croma returns a star rating on some products but no review count on any, so nothing here carries a rating pill. Our Croma sale calendar tracks when the newer end actually moves.

Every price below was pulled from Croma on July 28, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Croma coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

Where a real saving comes from on Croma gadgets

If the badge is mostly a calendar, the savings worth chasing are elsewhere. First and biggest: buy one generation back deliberately. The GoPro Hero12 shoots the same 5.3K at 60 frames as the current model for Rs. 8,000 less, and a 2023 PlayStation tentpole costs half what a 2025 one does. That single decision is worth more than every coupon on this page combined. Second, at the flagship end where badges are single-digit — the S25 Ultra at 8%, iPads at 5% — the real levers are exchange value and card offers rather than the tile, since Croma's bank instant discounts and no-cost EMI move a Rs. 120,000 phone considerably further than 8% ever will. Third, on Apple specifically, treat 5% as the ceiling and stop hunting: eight separate iPad listings in our pull carried exactly that figure across two model years and four colours, which is a reseller policy rather than a sale. Fourth, watch the events instead of the tiles — our Croma upcoming sale page and the Saving Days coverage track when the newer hardware genuinely moves, and our May sale archive shows what the last one actually did to prices. Fifth, for anything in the categories this page skipped, the slower clocks are covered in our laptop and TV and audio picks.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: colourway duplicates, which are the single largest source of noise in this pull — the same iPad appeared in four colours at an identical price and badge, and the same vivo in two, so we kept one of each. Laptops, large appliances, kitchen appliances and TVs, all of which we covered separately this month and each of which runs its own, much slower clock. Products whose listings did not state the specification we were judging them on. Animated-GIF product images, which Croma serves on some listings and which do not render reliably. The Rs. 174,000 and Rs. 239,000 mirrorless bodies at the top of the camera pull, where the buyer is choosing a lens system rather than a discount. And anything showing out of stock at the time of reading.

What we look for

We checked what a gadget discount at Croma actually tracks

Time since replacement, more reliably than anything else. Across the 156 products we read on July 28, the deepest badges sat on the fastest-refreshed categories and the oldest models within them: 80% on a superseded smartwatch, 68% on a 2017 PlayStation game, 46% on the entry GoPro, 38% on a phone approaching its annual refresh, and 2% on a 2026 iPad Pro. Sorting this aisle by discount sorts it by age.

We used ranges where the manufacturer is the only variable

Four GoPros from one maker with one waterproof rating, running 46%, 33%, 18% and 16% by generation. Four PlayStation games where the release dates are public and undisputed, running 68%, 60%, 48% and 19%. Eight iPad listings across two model years all at exactly 5%. These are as close to controlled comparisons as a retail listing page produces, and in each one the badge tracks the calendar while the hardware does not change.

We separated the categories before comparing anything

A 46% action camera and a 46% smartwatch mean completely different things, because the two categories refresh on different clocks — roughly two years for a camera, under one for a budget watch. Comparing badges across categories produces nonsense, which is why this page is built in five chapters and each one only compares like with like. The one genuine exception we found, the 360-degree GoPro at 18%, is printed rather than smoothed over.

Then we picked on specifications and prices, not percentages

Panel type, resolution and frame rate, RAM and storage, support window, waterproof rating, chip generation — each stated in the spec strip and each checkable. Croma's API returns a star rating on some products but no review count on any of them, so this page carries no rating pills; a score without a sample size is not evidence, and we have not substituted one of our own. Prices read from croma.com on July 28, 2026.

FAQs

Why are some Croma products 80% off and others only 2%?

Because the badge is mostly measuring how long ago the product was replaced. In our July 28 pull the deepest discounts sat on the fastest-refreshed categories and the oldest models inside them — 80% on a superseded budget smartwatch, 68% on a 2017 PlayStation game — while the newest hardware from the manufacturers with the tightest price control sat at 2% and 3%. Nothing about a product's quality changes when its successor ships, which is why a big badge is often a good buy and never, on its own, evidence of one.

What is the best value gadget at Croma in July 2026?

The GoPro Hero12 at Rs. 29,990, down 33%. It shoots the same 5.3K at 60 frames and the same 27-megapixel stills as the current Hero13, with the same waterproofing, for Rs. 8,000 less — what the newer body adds is a magnetic mount and a bigger battery, both real and neither worth the gap. One generation back is the value spot on almost every gadget shelf here. For a much smaller budget, the boAt Lunar Prime at Rs. 1,999 is the cheapest AMOLED smartwatch in our pull.

Why are Apple products barely discounted at Croma?

Because authorised Apple resellers work inside a narrow, closely policed margin. Across the seventeen Apple listings in our July 28 pull not one exceeded 16% off, and eight separate iPad listings carried exactly 5% — a figure that repeats across two model years and four colours, which makes it a pricing policy rather than a promotion. Treat 5% as the ceiling and stop hunting for a better tile. The money at that end of the market is in exchange value, student pricing and card offers instead.

Should I buy last year's phone to get a bigger discount?

Often yes, with one thing to check first. In our pull the phone badges ran from 50% to 3% and sorted almost perfectly by launch date, so buying a model nearing its refresh is the cheapest route to a given specification. What to check is the software support window rather than the discount: a Samsung A-series with four years of Android upgrades left will stay usable longer than a cheaper phone with two, and that gap matters more over three years than twenty points of badge.

Are old PlayStation games worth buying at those discounts?

If you own the console for them, yes — the discount is about the calendar and not about quality. Our four PS4 titles came back at 68%, 60%, 50% and 44% off and include some of the best-regarded games of that generation. The rule that follows from the data is simple: wait roughly two years after release and pay about a third. The caveat is the console itself, since PS4 discs do not play on a PS5 digital edition, so check which machine you have before buying the cheapest tile.

More Croma coverage on Zoutons

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price and MRP was read from Croma's own search API on July 28, 2026, across 156 unique products, and can change without notice. The counts and ranges we cite — four PS4 games at 44-68%, seven PS5 games at 13-48%, five GoPros from 46% to 16%, 32 phones from 50% to 3%, seventeen Apple listings none above 16% — describe that sample on that date and are our own analysis rather than a claim by Croma or by any manufacturer. Release years for the games and cameras are the publishers' and manufacturers' own published dates. The correlation between badge size and product age is strong in this pull and it is not a law: we found one clear exception, the 360-degree GoPro Max 2, and have printed it as a pick rather than dropping it. Specifications are taken from Croma's own listing text and we have not independently tested any of them. Croma's API returns a star rating on some products but no review count on any, so this page carries no rating pills and no scores of our own. We only recommend products we would buy at these prices.
