The one specification worth paying for on a cheap smartwatch is the panel, and this is the cheapest AMOLED in the article at Rs. 1,999. AMOLED lights each pixel individually instead of backlighting the whole screen, so it stays readable outdoors, which in an Indian July is most of when you look at your wrist. The 79% badge is again a function of the refresh cycle rather than the deal — but at Rs. 1,999 the deal is real anyway, and the panel is the reason to prefer this over the pick above it.

Forty-nine and a half millimetres is a very large watch face — larger than most people want once the novelty passes, and worth seeing on a wrist before buying. At Rs. 1,199 it is the joint-cheapest thing in this chapter. What is worth noticing is that this watch and the 80% one above it cost exactly the same Rs. 1,199 while carrying badges four points apart, which happens because their stated MRPs differ by a thousand rupees. Closing the chapter on the best-made of the four and, predictably by now, the smallest badge of the four. A metal case at Rs. 2,199 is the point where a cheap smartwatch stops feeling like a toy, and 35.56 mm is the size most people settle on. Video games make the argument better than any other category, because their release dates are public and undisputed. This is a 2017 PS4 title at 68% off. This is a 2023 release, which makes it the oldest current-gen game here, and that is exactly why it is the cheapest of them. One year old, and the badge has collapsed from 68% to 19%. That is the whole chapter in two numbers. Nothing has been said here about whether Death Stranding 2 is better than Horizon Zero Dawn — it is a strange, divisive, extremely ambitious game and reasonable people disagree about it — and the discount has no opinion on that either. This is where we would spend the money. The Hero12 is two generations behind and shoots the same 5.3K at 60 frames as the current model, with the same 27-megapixel stills and the same waterproofing to 10 metres. What the newer bodies add is a magnetic mount, a slightly different battery and some processing — real improvements, and not Rs. 8,000 of them. Rs. 8,000 more than the Hero12 buys the magnetic latch mount, lens-detection accessories and a bigger battery, all of which are genuine and none of which changes what the footage looks like. We are including the exception on purpose, because a page arguing a correlation should show where it strains. The Max 2 is the newest camera in our pull and carries 18%, two points above the Hero13's 16% — so age is not the only input, and being a low-volume 360-degree specialist in a small niche matters too. What holds across all five GoPros is the direction: the two oldest bodies carry 46% and 33%, the two newest 16% and 18%. Phones run the same clock at a faster tick, because a mid-range Android model is replaced roughly every ten months. Flagships hold their listed price because demand is steady, supply is managed and the manufacturer polices the reference number closely — which is why a badge on a current flagship is small no matter which shop you look in. The practical consequence is that there is nothing to wait for at this end of the market except a genuine sale event, and the real levers here are exchange value and bank cashback rather than the badge on the tile.

The final chapter is the control group. Seventeen Apple listings came back in our pull and not one exceeded 16% — a range of 2% to 16% across tablets and watches — while the smartwatches in Chapter One reached 80%. The detail that closes the argument is which Apple products carry the biggest badges: the two at 16% are the 2024 iPad Air M2 and the Apple Watch Series 10, the two oldest things Apple has on the page. Even inside a range where the discount barely moves, it moves in the same direction as the calendar.

When a number repeats that consistently it is a policy rather than a promotion — Apple's authorised resellers work inside a narrow, well-policed margin, and Croma is one. Everything about the product changed and the badge did not move at all — which is the mirror image of Chapter Two, where the price stayed fixed and the badge swung eight points. Both cases say the same thing from opposite directions: the percentage is a property of the pricing regime, not of the object. The M4 chip is the reason to buy this, and it will not appear anywhere in the discount.

Read the page backwards from here and the clock is unmistakable: 2% on a 2026 iPad Pro, 3% on a phone launched this quarter, 16% on last year's GoPro, 33% on the one before it, 48% on a 2023 game, 68% on a 2017 one, 80% on a smartwatch whose replacement is already shipping.
