Eleven listings whose stated MRP is exactly 100x the price. Twenty picks from 114 listings read on August 11.
We read 114 Amazon power tool listings on August 11, 2026 and seated 20. Eleven of them showed a 99 per cent discount, and in every one the stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price - a decimal error rather than a deal, appearing across five brands including Bosch. The wall inverts at the other end: the most-rated screwdriver set here, on 23,775 ratings, is six per cent off. Between those extremes sit the drills people actually buy, where what matters is the mechanism rather than the badge.
Every price below was pulled from Amazon on August 11, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Amazon coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.
In every one of the eleven, the stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price. Rs. 1,599 against Rs. 1,59,900. It is a decimal error, and it happens to Bosch too.

Why it earned its spot Nobody ever sold a 12V cordless drill for one lakh fifty-nine thousand rupees.
Rs. 1,485 against a stated Rs. 1,48,500 - the same 100x error, on 5,606 ratings.
Why it earned its spot The error has nothing to do with the product, which has five and a half thousand ratings.
Rs. 2,200 against a stated Rs. 2,20,000 - the same error, on a Bosch listing.
Why it earned its spot This is not a fly-by-night seller problem. Bosch has one too.
Rs. 1,186 against a stated Rs. 1,18,600 - and a 3.2 average from 218 people.
Why it earned its spot A broken badge on top, and the weakest rating on this page underneath.

Rs. 3,999 at 47% off a stated Rs. 7,565 - 26,211 ratings at 4.4.
Why it earned its spot The best-evidenced power tool in India, more or less, at four thousand rupees.

Why it earned its spot The one to buy for furniture and fittings, and the wrong one for walls.
Rs. 4,827 at 43% off a stated Rs. 8,440 - 3,591 ratings at 4.3.
Why it earned its spot A rotary hammer is a different machine from an impact drill, and concrete knows it.
A 550W BLACK+DECKER with a 13mm chuck at Rs. 2,199 against a 500W Bosch with a 10mm chuck at Rs. 3,999. Both carry five figures of ratings.

A 4.0 on 12,598 votes and a 4.4 on 10,056 for near-identical precision sets. That gap is what the extra Rs. 279 buys.
Rs. 296 at 55% off a stated Rs. 652 - 12,598 ratings at 4.0.
Why it earned its spot The set for phones, laptops and spectacles, at under three hundred rupees.
Rs. 575 at 42% off a stated Rs. 999 - 51 pieces, 10,056 ratings at 4.4.
Why it earned its spot Twice the price of the Themisto set, and a visibly better rating for it.
Rs. 279 at 65% off a stated Rs. 799 - 9,026 ratings at 3.8.
Why it earned its spot Nine thousand ratings and a 3.8, which is exactly what a Rs. 279 soldering kit should score.
Rs. 1,471 at 41% off a stated Rs. 2,500 - 12,667 ratings at 4.4.
Why it earned its spot Twelve tools that will outlast the person who buys them.
First: multiply the price by a hundred and see whether it equals the MRP, because eleven listings in this read failed that test and every one was showing 99 per cent off. Second: read the rating count before the badge, since the two biggest crowds here - 27,402 and 23,775 votes - sit on badges of 28 and 6 per cent, the same inversion we found across the toothbrush aisle. Third: identify the mechanism, because an impact drill, a drill driver and a rotary hammer look alike and only one of them belongs in a concrete wall. Fourth: spend on bits rather than on watts, since a cobalt bit set outlasts three cheap drills and chuck size limits you before power does. Fifth: treat a stated MRP as the seller's own claim, the same test we applied to the storage and furniture shelf.

Eleven of the 114 rows in this read showed a 99 per cent badge, and in every single one the stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price - Rs. 1,599 against Rs. 1,59,900, Rs. 2,200 against Rs. 2,20,000, Rs. 1,485 against Rs. 1,48,500. That is a decimal error in the listing data rather than a discount, it appears across five brands including Bosch, and it produces the most eye-catching badge on any search results page. We have seated four of the eleven and said plainly what they are.
The largest crowd in this read - 27,402 ratings on a Bosch bit set - sits on a modest 28 per cent badge, and the most-rated screwdriver set, with 23,775 votes, is six per cent off. Meanwhile a 3.2 average from 218 people sits under a 99 per cent badge. We attach a rating pill only above a hundred votes, and we have deliberately seated the 3.2, the 3.8 and the 4.0 listings rather than only the flattering ones, because on tools a low average across a big sample is a precise description of what you are buying.
An impact drill, a cordless drill driver and an SDS-Plus rotary hammer photograph almost identically and do different jobs. The impact drill rattles its way into masonry, the driver has no hammer function at all and is for screws and furniture, and the rotary hammer strikes with a piston and is the only one that belongs in reinforced concrete. Indian walls are masonry rather than plasterboard, so buying a drill driver for wall fixings is the commonest and most expensive mistake in this category. We have said on each card what the machine is actually for.
Angle grinders spin an abrasive disc fast enough to cause serious injury and are the tool on this page that most deserves eye protection, two hands and an intact guard - which people remove. Soldering irons run around 350 degrees. We are not qualified to give safety training and this page is not a substitute for it, but we are not going to list a Rs. 1,186 grinder with a 3.2 rating and say nothing at all about what it is.
Not in this read, and the test takes a second. Eleven of the 114 Amazon power tool listings we read on August 11, 2026 showed a 99 per cent badge, and in every single one the stated MRP is exactly one hundred times the selling price - Rs. 1,599 against Rs. 1,59,900, Rs. 1,485 against Rs. 1,48,500, Rs. 2,200 against Rs. 2,20,000. That is a misplaced decimal point in the listing data, not a price anybody ever charged. Multiply the selling price by a hundred; if it matches the MRP, the badge is meaningless. The products themselves are usually fine - judge them on the price and the rating count.
Because it does not need to be more. The Taparia 840 screwdriver set carries 23,775 ratings at 4.2 and is discounted Rs. 21 off a stated Rs. 332 - the narrowest badge among our twenty picks. Taparia is a long-established Indian hand-tool maker sold through hardware shops nationwide at consistent prices, so there is no inflated list price to discount from. All three Taparia listings in our read sat between 6 and 11 per cent. The same shape appears on the Bosch X-line bit set, which carries the largest crowd in the whole read at 27,402 ratings and a modest 28 per cent badge.
The mechanism, and it decides whether the tool will work on your walls. An impact drill rotates while rattling two ridged plates together, which is enough to get into brick and ordinary masonry - the Bosch GSB 500 RE at Rs. 3,999 is the default. A drill driver like the cordless GSR 120-Li at Rs. 3,564 has no hammer function at all and is for screws, wood and furniture; it will struggle badly in a wall. A rotary hammer such as the GBH 220 at Rs. 4,827 uses a piston to strike the bit directly and is the only one of the three that belongs in reinforced concrete. Indian walls are masonry, so buying a drill driver for wall fixings is the common expensive mistake.
On paper, clearly. The BLACK+DECKER KR554RE is 550W with a 13mm chuck at Rs. 2,199 with 19,177 ratings at 4.3; the Bosch GSB 500 RE is 500W with a 10mm chuck at Rs. 3,999 with 26,211 ratings at 4.4. More power, a larger chuck and Rs. 1,800 less. For household use you are unlikely to find the difference. Bosch's advantage is in sustained professional use, where gearbox and bearing durability show up, and in service network - which is why tradesmen pay the premium. If this is a drill for hanging shelves and occasional projects, the BLACK+DECKER is the better buy.
For a first drill, the Bosch GSB 500 RE at Rs. 3,999 with 26,211 ratings at 4.4 - the best-evidenced power tool in the read, and an impact drill, which is what Indian masonry walls need. If price matters more, the BLACK+DECKER KR554RE at Rs. 2,199 has more watts and a bigger chuck on 19,177 ratings. The single highest-value item here is the Bosch X-line cobalt bit set at Rs. 680, which carries the largest crowd on the page and will outlast several drills. And the cheapest genuinely useful thing is the Taparia 802 screwdriver set at Rs. 195.
