The battery costs 2.2 times the inverter and is discounted at two-thirds the rate — so the biggest badges on this shelf sit on the cheapest half of the purchase.

Forty unique listings were found across three Amazon searches on 29 August 2026, and each was then opened on its own product page so that the price, M.R.P. and savings percentage could be read from the PDP price block rather than from the search result. Two listings did not return a readable price block and are excluded from every figure rather than estimated, leaving 38. This step matters: Amazon's search results in this category surface a per-unit price field that yields impossible discounts if treated as an M.R.P., and we discarded those figures. Segment medians, price bands, the inverter-to-battery ratio and the combo comparison are our arithmetic over the 38 verified rows and are described as such. All figures were read from an Indian IP with no account logged in. Amazon prices change many times a day; we re-read and log material changes to the bands.

The battery costs twice what the inverter does

We searched Amazon's home inverter and inverter battery listings on 29 August 2026, found 40 unique products, then opened every one of them on its own product page and read the price, the M.R.P. and the savings percentage from the price block. Thirty-eight returned a readable price block; those 38 are the basis for every number below.

Split them into what they actually are and the shape of this purchase becomes clear. A standalone inverter costs between Rs. 4,149 and Rs. 11,989, with a median of Rs. 6,474. A standalone battery costs between Rs. 12,799 and Rs. 92,999, with a median of Rs. 14,299.

The battery is 2.2 times the inverter. People search for "inverter for home" and set a budget around the inverter, but the inverter is the smaller half of the bill — and it is the half that lasts longest. The battery is the consumable that will need replacing in a few years.

The discount is deepest where the money isn't

Here is the second thing the split reveals. The inverters carry a median discount of 38 per cent. The batteries, which cost more than twice as much, carry a median of 27. The combos sit at 28.

So the deepest badges on this shelf are attached to the cheapest component. Two Livguard inverters are 56 per cent off, the largest cuts in the whole read, and they are Rs. 4,149 and Rs. 5,314 machines. Meanwhile the battery you have to buy alongside one of them is discounted at half that rate on three times the money.

This is worth knowing because it changes what a discount is worth chasing. Fifty-six per cent off a Rs. 9,500 inverter saves Rs. 5,186. Twenty per cent off a Rs. 17,900 battery saves Rs. 3,601. The big percentage and the big saving are not the same listing, and on a purchase of this size the difference is real money.

A note on how these numbers were taken. Amazon's search results for this category return a per-unit price field alongside the listing, and reading it as an M.R.P. produces impossible discounts — we saw apparent "99 per cent off" figures that vanish the moment you open the product page. Every price, M.R.P. and percentage on this page was read from the product page's own price block instead, which is what a shopper actually sees.

Eleven 150Ah batteries, a Rs. 3,700 spread

Most home inverter setups in India are built around a 150Ah tubular battery, and our read found eleven of them — from Luminous, Exide, Microtek and Tata Green. On the headline specification they are the same product.

They cost between Rs. 12,799 and Rs. 16,499. That is a spread of Rs. 3,700, or 29 per cent of the cheapest one, across a nominally identical 150 amp-hour rating. Ratings across the eleven run from 3.8 to 4.4, and the most expensive battery in the group is not the highest rated.

Some of that gap is real: tall tubular and short tubular differ, warranty periods differ, and plate design and cycle life differ in ways a spec line does not capture. But the gap is wide enough that it is worth comparing warranty terms directly rather than assuming the dearer battery is proportionally better. The cheapest listing here, a Luminous Red Charge RC 18000ST at Rs. 12,799, is also rated 4.3.

Combos, and whether they save anything

Eleven of the 38 listings bundle an inverter and a battery together, priced from Rs. 16,299 to Rs. 35,599 with a median of Rs. 18,815.

Set that against the medians of the separate parts: Rs. 6,474 for an inverter plus Rs. 14,299 for a battery is Rs. 20,773. The median combo is about Rs. 1,958 below that. On medians, a combo is modestly cheaper than assembling the equivalent yourself.

That comparison has an obvious limit and we want to be explicit about it: these are medians of different products, not like-for-like. A combo's battery is often a smaller capacity than the 150Ah units in the section above, and the inverter inside a cheap combo is frequently a square-wave rather than a pure sine-wave unit — the Rs. 16,299 Luminous entry says "Square Wave" in its own title. Square wave is cheaper and is fine for lights and fans, but it is not what you want for sensitive electronics.

The practical use of this table is as a price floor. If a combo is quoted at more than roughly Rs. 21,000, you should be able to match or beat it by choosing the inverter and the 150Ah battery separately, and you will know exactly what you are getting.
