Three refrigerators from Amazon's own listing images - a Samsung digital inverter single door, a Haier direct cool and a Whirlpool convertible double door - on a colour-block card layout, for a page on Amazon fridge prices in August 2026

A refrigerator on amazon.in starts at Rs. 11,990 for 165 litres and runs to Rs. 53,990 for 419. We pulled 46 listings on 28 August 2026 - every price, struck MRP, star rating and review count below is Amazon's own data.

Divided by capacity, the shelf tells you something the sticker does not: single-door direct cool costs Rs. 76 a litre and frost-free double door costs Rs. 112. Here is where that premium sits, and what a BEE star adds to the bill.

📅 Update log:
28 Aug 2026 — first published. Every price, struck-through MRP, discount badge, star rating and review count on this page was read from amazon.in search results for "refrigerator double door", "refrigerator single door" and "mini fridge" on 28 August 2026, popularity-ranked, from an Indian IP with no account logged in and sponsored placements dropped. Per-litre figures, medians and the star-rating steps are our arithmetic over those listings and are labelled as arithmetic in the body. Thirteen listings that render as a brand name only are counted in totals but never named. One SHARP listing whose MRP is printed a hundred times too high is excluded from every median and called out in the body. Amazon re-prices this shelf daily and runs bank and exchange offers at checkout that this page does not include; we re-read the search and log any change to the price bands.

Rs. 76 a litre single door, Rs. 112 a litre double door

Three refrigerator searches on amazon.in on 28 August 2026 returned 46 unique listings after sponsored placements were dropped. Thirteen of them show only a brand name where the product title should be - a known amazon.in search defect - so the 33 fully-titled listings are the ones named on this page. Prices run from Rs. 11,990 for a 165-litre Haier single door to Rs. 53,990 for a 419-litre Samsung.

Converted to rupees per litre, the two shelves separate cleanly. The 15 single-door direct-cool listings have a median price of Rs. 14,190 and cost Rs. 76 per litre. The 12 frost-free double doors have a median price of Rs. 26,640 and cost Rs. 112 per litre. Moving to a double door is not a 90 per cent price rise for the same fridge - it is a 47 per cent rise in the price of every litre you buy, on top of buying more litres.

That is a defensible premium: frost-free means no manual defrosting, and the double-door listings here also carry inverter compressors and convertible modes the single doors do not. It is worth knowing what you are paying for it, because the capacity numbers on their own make the jump look proportional when it is not.

Double door, frost free12235-419 LRs. 26,640Rs. 11220%
💡 Divide the price by the litres before you compare anything. A Rs. 20,490 Samsung 223 L single door and a Rs. 22,190 Haier 240 L double door look like the same purchase Rs. 1,700 apart. Per litre they are Rs. 92 each - the Haier simply sells you 17 more litres at the same rate, and throws in frost-free.

A star rating costs Rs. 500 to Rs. 2,270 inside one product line

Amazon's search results happen to carry three refrigerator lines at more than one BEE star rating, which is the cleanest possible read on what efficiency costs. Haier's 190 L direct cool appears at 2 star for Rs. 14,190, 3 star for Rs. 14,690 and 4 star for Rs. 15,490 - the same capacity, the same series, Rs. 500 and then Rs. 800 a step. Godrej's 180 L goes from 1 star at Rs. 12,790 to 2 star at Rs. 13,390, Rs. 600 for the step.

Voltas Beko's 183 L is the outlier: 2 star at Rs. 13,770 and 3 star at Rs. 16,040, a Rs. 2,270 gap for one star. It is also the pair with the largest badges on this shelf - 51 per cent and 47 per cent - which is worth reading together with the price gap rather than separately.

We have not measured any of these units, so we cannot tell you what a star saves you on a bill. What the shelf shows is the price of asking for one, and on the Haier and Godrej lines it is a few hundred rupees, which is small against a Rs. 14,000 purchase you will run for a decade.

One badge on this shelf is arithmetic, not an offer. A SHARP listing prints a struck MRP of Rs. 10,49,000 against a selling price of Rs. 10,490 - a 99 per cent badge produced by a decimal slipping two places, not by anyone discounting a ten-lakh fridge. We are naming it because the same defect turns up across amazon.in categories and a 99 per cent badge is the tell.

Every single door on the shelf, cheapest first

This is the whole single-door set with a full title, from Rs. 11,990 to Rs. 20,490. The cheapest is Haier's 165 L 1 star at Rs. 73 per litre; the dearest per litre is Samsung's 183 L 4 star at Rs. 93, which is also the best-reviewed fridge in the entire pull at 4.3 stars from 4,560 reviews.

Below Rs. 14,000 the choice is essentially Whirlpool's 184 L 2 star at Rs. 12,989 with 2,520 reviews behind it, Godrej's 180 L pair, or Voltas Beko's 183 L 2 star. Above Rs. 15,000 you are paying for stars and inverter compressors rather than for space - the 190 L Haier 4 star and the 183 L Samsung 4 star cost more than the 223-litre Samsung would per litre.

Every double door on the shelf, cheapest first

The frost-free set starts at Rs. 22,190 for Haier's 240 L 1 star and runs to Rs. 53,990 for Samsung's 419 L. Per litre the band is tight - Rs. 92 to Rs. 134 - and it rises with capacity rather than falling, which is the opposite of how appliance pricing usually works. The 419 L Samsung costs Rs. 129 a litre; the 240 L Haier costs Rs. 92.

The best-evidenced choice here is Whirlpool's 235 L 3 star at Rs. 26,990 with 4,108 reviews at 4.0 - the second-largest review count in the pull. IFB's 241 L 10-in-1 convertible at Rs. 26,290 carries 528 reviews at 4.2 and is the cheapest listing with a rating above 4.1. Samsung's 236 L trio at Rs. 25,990, Rs. 27,490 and Rs. 28,990 is a Rs. 3,000 ladder across two stars and a convertible mode.

The full read: what was pulled, what was excluded and why
  • Source and date. amazon.in search results for "refrigerator double door", "refrigerator single door" and "mini fridge", sorted by popularity rank, pulled on 28 August 2026 from an Indian IP with no account logged in. Sponsored placements were dropped before counting.
  • What counted. 46 unique ASINs with a price. 33 of them carry a full product title; the other 13 render as a brand name only ("Blue Star", "Godrej", "ROCKWELL", "pTron") - a defect in amazon.in's search markup, not a real listing. Those 13 are included in the 46 but are never named, quoted or recommended here because we cannot say which model they are.
  • Shelf medians. Single door, direct cool: 15 listings, 165-223 L, median price Rs. 14,190, median Rs. 76 per litre, median badge 28 per cent. Double door, frost free: 12 listings, 235-419 L, median price Rs. 26,640, median Rs. 112 per litre, median badge 20 per cent.
  • Not refrigerators. The two cheapest results in the pull are a Rs. 1,999 7.5-litre portable cooler and a Rs. 4,900 mini-fridge STAND - a wheeled cart, not a cooling appliance. A Rs. 4,499 pTron listing and Rs. 4,899 / Rs. 9,460 ROCKWELL listings are brand-only titles we could not resolve. Anyone searching "mini fridge" under Rs. 5,000 on this shelf is looking at accessories.
  • The 99 per cent badge. A SHARP listing shows MRP Rs. 10,49,000 and price Rs. 10,490. That is the price times one hundred, a decimal-place error in the MRP field, and we exclude it from every median on this page.
  • What we did not do. We did not buy, install, run or measure any refrigerator. Nothing here is a claim about cooling performance, noise, build or actual electricity consumption; BEE star ratings are quoted from the listing title as printed. We did not reach a checkout page, so bank offers, exchange discounts, no-cost EMI and delivery or installation charges are not reflected in any figure.

What the review counts say, and what they do not

Eight listings in this pull carry more than 200 reviews, and they are not the eight with the biggest badges. Samsung's 183 L 4 star leads at 4.3 from 4,560 reviews on a 23 per cent badge. Whirlpool's 235 L 3 star is next at 4.0 from 4,108 on an 18 per cent badge. The two deepest badges on the shelf, Voltas Beko at 51 and 47 per cent, carry 241 and 87 reviews.

Haier's 190 L 3 star and 4 star both display 4.3 stars from 2,733 reviews - the same count on two different models, which means Amazon is pooling reviews across the variants of that listing. Treat that number as evidence about the 190 L line rather than about the specific star rating you are buying. The same caution applies to the two Whirlpool 184 L entries, which both show 2,520.

If you want the most-evidenced fridge at each size: 165-190 L, Whirlpool's 184 L 2 star at Rs. 12,989 (2,520 reviews); 183-192 L with a 4 star, Samsung at Rs. 16,990 (4,560); 235-241 L, Whirlpool's 235 L 3 star at Rs. 26,990 (4,108). None of those three is the biggest badge in its band.

The short version

46 refrigerator listings on amazon.in on 28 August 2026, Rs. 11,990 to Rs. 53,990. Single-door direct cool costs a median Rs. 76 per litre; frost-free double door costs Rs. 112 - a 47 per cent premium per litre before capacity is counted.

A BEE star costs Rs. 500 to Rs. 800 a step inside Haier's 190 L line and Rs. 600 inside Godrej's 180 L, but Rs. 2,270 between Voltas Beko's 183 L 2 star and 3 star.

The badges do not track the evidence. The best-reviewed fridge here, Samsung's 183 L 4 star at 4.3 from 4,560 reviews, badges 23 per cent; one SHARP listing badges 99 per cent because its MRP is printed a hundred times too high.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the cheapest refrigerator on Amazon India right now?
In this read on 28 August 2026 the cheapest full-size refrigerator with a complete listing title was Haier's 165 L 1 star direct-cool single door at Rs. 11,990, struck from Rs. 16,590, with 313 reviews at 3.8 stars - Rs. 73 per litre, the lowest per-litre price in the pull. Below that the search returns things that are not refrigerators: a Rs. 1,999 7.5-litre portable cooler and a Rs. 4,900 mini-fridge stand, which is a wheeled cart. Between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 14,000 the shelf offers Whirlpool's 184 L 2 star at Rs. 12,989 with 2,520 reviews, Godrej's 180 L 1 star at Rs. 12,790 and Voltas Beko's 183 L 2 star at Rs. 13,770. Prices on this shelf move with running promotions, so check the live page.
Is a double-door fridge worth the extra money?
It costs more per litre, not just more in total, and that is the number to decide on. Across this pull the 15 single-door direct-cool listings worked out at a median of Rs. 76 per litre while the 12 frost-free double doors came to Rs. 112 - a 47 per cent premium on every litre, on top of the extra litres you are buying. What that premium buys is real: frost-free operation with no manual defrosting, and on this shelf the double doors also carry inverter compressors and convertible modes the single doors mostly do not. If you want capacity alone, Samsung's 223 L single door at Rs. 20,490 costs Rs. 92 a litre, exactly the same rate as Haier's 240 L double door at Rs. 22,190 - which makes the double door the better buy at that particular price point.
How much does a higher BEE star rating cost on Amazon?
Three product lines in this pull appear at more than one star rating, which gives a direct read. Haier's 190 L direct cool runs Rs. 14,190 at 2 star, Rs. 14,690 at 3 star and Rs. 15,490 at 4 star - steps of Rs. 500 and Rs. 800 for the identical capacity and series. Godrej's 180 L moves from Rs. 12,790 at 1 star to Rs. 13,390 at 2 star, a Rs. 600 step. Voltas Beko's 183 L is the exception at Rs. 13,770 for 2 star and Rs. 16,040 for 3 star, a Rs. 2,270 gap. We have not metered any of these units and make no claim about what a star saves on a bill; what the shelf shows is the price of asking for it, which on two of the three lines is a few hundred rupees against a purchase you keep for a decade.
Why do some Amazon fridges show 99 per cent off?
Because the struck-through MRP on that listing is wrong, not because the fridge is nearly free. One SHARP listing in this pull prints an MRP of Rs. 10,49,000 against a selling price of Rs. 10,490 - exactly one hundred times the price, a decimal-place error in the MRP field. We excluded it from every median on this page and we would suggest you ignore the badge on it too. More broadly, the badge measures the gap between two numbers on a listing and only one of them is the money you pay. On this shelf the deepest plausible badge is Midea's 560 L side-by-side at 59 per cent off Rs. 1,10,990, while the best-reviewed fridge in the pull badges only 23 per cent.
Which Amazon refrigerator has the best reviews?
Samsung's 183 L 4 star digital-inverter direct-cool single door at Rs. 16,990, with 4,560 reviews averaging 4.3 stars - the highest count and the highest average of anything in this pull. For a double door, Whirlpool's 235 L 3 star frost-free inverter at Rs. 26,990 carries 4,108 reviews at 4.0. One caveat worth knowing: Amazon pools reviews across the variants of a listing, so Haier's 190 L 3 star and 4 star both display 4.3 from exactly 2,733 reviews and both Whirlpool 184 L entries display 2,520. Identical counts on different models are the tell that the number describes the product line rather than the exact variant, so read a few recent reviews for anything specific to the capacity or star rating you are actually buying.
Prices & codes last verified: 28 August 2026
Every selling price, struck-through MRP, discount badge, star rating and review count on this page was read from amazon.in search results on 28 August 2026, from an Indian IP with no account logged in, nothing added to a cart and no checkout page reached. Per-litre figures, shelf medians and the star-rating price steps are our own arithmetic over those listings and are described as arithmetic in the body rather than as claims by Amazon or by any manufacturer. Capacities and BEE star ratings are quoted from the listing titles exactly as printed; we have not bought, installed, run or metered any of these refrigerators, so nothing here is an assessment of cooling performance, noise, build quality or actual electricity consumption, and no figure here should be read as a claim about running costs. Thirteen listings in the pull show only a brand name in place of a product title - an amazon.in search defect - and are counted in totals but never named or recommended. One listing whose struck MRP is printed a hundred times above its price is identified in the body and excluded from every median. Amazon re-prices this category daily and applies bank offers, exchange bonuses, no-cost EMI and delivery or installation charges at checkout, none of which are reflected in any price on this page, so the figure you see when you open a listing may differ. Review counts on Amazon are pooled across the variants of a listing, which is stated in the body. Zoutons may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page; it does not change what you pay, and nothing here was reviewed or approved by Amazon or by any brand named.
