Twenty-five bags read on 25 August, Rs. 120 to Rs. 1,109. Twelve state their capacity. The other thirteen ask you to guess.

Prices & codes last verified August 25, 2026

We read AJIO's backpack and laptop bag shelves on 25 August 2026 and seated 25 listings from Rs. 120 to Rs. 1,109. The problem with this shelf is not price, it is vocabulary: 'backpack' here covers flat laptop sleeves, slim shoulder bags, children's school packs, hiking packs and real laptop backpacks, all priced against each other. The one number that separates them is capacity in litres, and only twelve of the twenty-five state it. Where a listing gives inches instead, that is the laptop it takes - one bag here is sold as 17-inch and holds sixteen litres.

Every price below was pulled from AJIO on August 25, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our AJIO coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.

“Seventeen inches describes the laptop. Sixteen litres describes the whole bag. Put the first inside the second and what is left is room for a charger.” Zoutons Editorial Team

Four rules for buying a backpack on AJIO

First: find the litre figure, and if there is not one, treat the listing as unspecified rather than assuming a size - twelve of the twenty-five bags here state one and it is the only number that tells you what fits. Second: read an inch figure as a laptop dimension, never a bag dimension. Third: prefer the brands with shopfronts when the specification is thin, because Decathlon, SAFARI, Skybags, Wildcraft and Puma have warranty processes and the online-only labels mostly do not - and note that the shop-backed brands also discount far less, exactly as we found on AJIO trolley bags and luggage. Fourth: check the live coupon page before checkout, since AJIO coupon thresholds usually want a cart rather than one Rs. 500 bag.

What we skipped — and why

What we skipped, and why: every listing whose product photograph repeated one already seated, which removed most of the duplicate colourways - Priority alone returned ten listings and NETPLAY seven, many sharing a single image, and our image check blocks cards that reuse a photograph. We also dropped the whole top of the range above Rs. 1,109, which removed 78 listings including Miraggio's women's bags at a median Rs. 4,499, MOKOBARA's at Rs. 4,799 and Urban Jungle's at Rs. 3,786, because this page is about the working end of the shelf rather than fashion luggage. Nine further listings between Rs. 900 and Rs. 1,100 were dropped for stating nothing at all beyond a brand name and a colour - no capacity, no laptop compartment, no compartment count - which left nothing to write about them that the photograph did not already show.

What we look for

We read litres before we read anything else

Capacity in litres is the only specification on this shelf that tells you what a bag will actually hold, and only twelve of the twenty-five listings seated here state one - 10L, 10L, 16L, 20L, 20L, 25L, 25L, 30L, 32L, 37L, 39L and 41L. The other thirteen describe size with adjectives like 'small', 'everyday' or 'formal', which are not measurements. Where a litre figure exists we lead the card with it, and where it does not we say so plainly rather than implying a size the listing never claimed.

We treat an inch figure as a laptop size, never a bag size

Several listings here are titled with a screen dimension - '17 Inch', '16 inch', '15"', '14"' - and that number describes the padded sleeve, not the pack. Skybags' Lumous is the proof: it is sold as a 17-inch backpack and states 16 litres, so once a 17-inch laptop is inside, what remains is room for a charger and a folder. Both numbers are honest; read together they mean something quite different from what the title alone suggests. We print both wherever a listing gives both.

We separate a list price with a shop behind it from one typed into a field

Decathlon, Puma, Benetton and Wildcraft all sell these bags through their own stores in India, and their badges in our 151-row pull run to medians of 25, 44, 58 and 60 per cent. The online-only bag labels - Priority, SAFARI, ARISTOCRAT, ENSAC - run 70 to 72. The same Decathlon Quechua 10-litre pack appears twice in this read at 70 per cent and 20 per cent off, which is the whole argument in two cards. We print every badge and treat only the shop-backed kind as a discount.

We say when a bag has no published rating, because none of them do

AJIO returns no rating and no rating count through its listing feed for any of the 151 bags in this pull. That is a real gap and we have not filled it with anything else: no card on this page carries a rating pill, no average is quoted, and we have not borrowed ratings from another retailer's listing of a similar product. Every judgement here rests on stated specifications, brand distribution and price, and where those run out we have said the listing does not tell you.

We name the specification that is missing, not just the ones present

Fabric denier, back-panel construction, strap padding depth, warranty term and laptop-compartment dimensions are the five things that decide whether a backpack is still usable in three years, and almost no listing on this shelf states any of them. A photograph cannot show stitching quality at the stress points, which is where bags fail. Where a brand's retail presence is the only real evidence of build quality available - Decathlon, SAFARI, Skybags, Wildcraft, Puma - we have said so and weighted it accordingly.

FAQs

Which backpack should I actually buy on AJIO under Rs. 1,000?

The Priority 30-litre laptop backpack with a rain cover at Rs. 824 is the best-specified bag under a thousand rupees in this read: it states its capacity, it has a dedicated laptop compartment, and it includes a rain cover, which only one other listing here does. If you want a brand with a dealer network behind it instead, the SAFARI Impact at Rs. 962 is sized for a 16-inch laptop and carries a luggage warranty. For a student needing volume, the Priority 37-litre college backpack at Rs. 780 states both its capacity and its laptop sleeve. Under Rs. 500, the ARISTOCRAT Lava at Rs. 470 is the only listing that states a real 25 litres and comes from a Safari-group label.

What does 17-inch mean on a backpack listing?

It describes the largest laptop the padded sleeve inside will take - not the size of the bag. The two are routinely confused because the inch figure is usually in the product title while the capacity is not. The clearest example in this read is the Skybags Lumous, sold as a '17 Inch laptop compatible backpack' and stating 16 litres of total capacity. Sixteen litres is a small day-pack; put a 17-inch laptop inside one and the remaining space takes a charger and a thin folder, and no more. Neither figure is dishonest, but a buyer reading the title alone will get a much smaller bag than expected. Always look for the litre figure, and if the listing does not give one, treat the size as unstated.

How many litres should a laptop backpack be?

For a daily commute with a laptop, charger, lunch and a light layer, 20 to 25 litres is the working range, and most of the sensible commuting bags in this read sit there. Thirty litres gives you room for gym kit or a change of clothes on top of that. Above 35 litres you are into weekend and cabin-luggage territory - the 37-litre and 41-litre Priority packs and the 39-litre Nasher Miles in this read are bags for a trip rather than a working day. Below 16 litres is a day-pack for a book, a bottle and a jacket, and will not comfortably take a large laptop plus anything else. Decathlon's two 10-litre Quechua packs here are hiking day-packs and are not laptop bags at all.

Why do AJIO backpacks show 70 to 80 per cent off?

Because those discounts sit almost entirely on labels that sell only online and set both the list price and the selling price themselves. In our 151-row pull, Priority's ten listings carry a median badge of 72 per cent, SAFARI's ten 70 per cent and ARISTOCRAT's two 70 per cent. The brands with their own shops in India discount far less: Decathlon's seven listings run a median of 25 per cent, Puma's fourteen 44 per cent, Benetton's eight 58 per cent and Wildcraft's seven 60 per cent. The sharpest illustration is on this page twice - the same Decathlon Quechua 10-litre pack appears at 70 per cent off in one listing and 20 per cent off in another. Read the selling price and ignore the percentage.

Do AJIO backpacks come with a warranty?

It depends entirely on the brand, and AJIO's listings do not state warranty terms for any of the 25 bags seated here - which is itself worth knowing before you buy. The luggage and sports brands in this read - SAFARI, Skybags, ARISTOCRAT, Wildcraft, Decathlon and Puma - all operate their own warranty and service processes in India through dealers or their own stores, so a failed zip or a split seam has somewhere to go. The online-only bag labels, including Priority, Harp, ENSAC and theallchemy, publish no warranty terms we can quote and in practice your recourse is AJIO's own returns window. That difference is worth a few hundred rupees on a bag you intend to load heavily every day.

More AJIO coverage on Zoutons

How Zoutons picks deals Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every price, stated MRP, discount percentage and capacity figure here was read on 25 August 2026 from AJIO's own listing data across the backpack and laptop bag shelves. One hundred and fifty-one listings came back carrying both a price and a stated MRP; the 25 seated here were chosen for product type, brand and price spread, after removing every listing whose product photograph had already been used. AJIO returns no rating and no rating count for any bag in this pull, so no card on this page carries a rating pill and no average is quoted anywhere - we have not substituted ratings from another retailer's listing of a similar product. An MRP is the figure the listing states and we have not verified that any bag here was ever sold at it, so every discount percentage on this page is arithmetic over AJIO's own two numbers rather than a measured saving; the same Decathlon 10-litre pack appearing at both 70 and 20 per cent off is the clearest evidence of why. Capacities, laptop-compartment sizes, rain covers, padding and compartment counts are quoted from the listings and are reported rather than tested - we have not handled, loaded, weighed or measured any bag here, and fabric weight, back-panel construction and warranty terms are absent from every listing in this read. AJIO prices change frequently and can differ once a coupon or bank offer is applied at checkout - re-check before paying.
