Three electronics chains, one category, and five machines that appear on more than one shelf. On every one of those five the chains quote the same stated MRP — and a different chain is cheapest each time.
We read all three on the afternoon of 11 September 2026. Below: the matched models and what each retailer charges, the Dyson that is priced a rupee apart under badges of 14% and 0%, and the one brand that three retailers discount three different ways.
📅 All three shelves read 11 September 2026
Eureka Forbes 355: Rs. 14,990 vs Rs. 15,299 vs Rs. 16,499
Dyson HushJet: Rs. 29,899 at 0% off, Rs. 29,900 at 14% off
📅 Update log:
11 Sep 2026 — first published. Croma's 15 listings came from croma.com's own search response for "air purifier"; Reliance Digital's 12 and Vijay Sales's 14 came from each site's own air-purifier category page. All three were read on the afternoon of 11 September 2026 as a logged-out visitor in India with nothing purchased. The matched-model comparisons are ours, made by matching model names and numbers across the same session's results. All three retailers re-price without notice, so we re-read the shelves and log what has changed here.
Five models appear on more than one shelf, and no chain wins them all
Air purifiers are an unusually easy category to compare, because the three electronics chains stock a lot of the same machines and print the same stated maximum retail price against them. We read all three shelves on the afternoon of 11 September 2026 — 41 listings in total — and found five models on more than one of them.
The Eureka Forbes 270 is Rs. 9,099 at Reliance Digital against Rs. 9,499 at both Croma and Vijay Sales, all three quoting an identical stated MRP of Rs. 11,700. Four hundred rupees, and the other two chains match each other to the rupee. Move one model up and the order changes: the Eureka Forbes 355 is Rs. 14,990 at Vijay Sales, Rs. 15,299 at Reliance Digital and Rs. 16,499 at Croma, again off one shared MRP of Rs. 22,000, a spread of Rs. 1,509.
Then it flips again. The Philips AC4221/60 — the same model number printed on both listings — is Rs. 24,490 at Croma and Rs. 26,749 at Reliance Digital, both against a stated Rs. 27,995. Croma is Rs. 2,259 cheaper on the one machine where the model numbers match exactly. Three matched models, three different winners.
| Model on more than one shelf | Croma | Reliance Digital | Vijay Sales | Stated MRP |
|---|
| Eureka Forbes 270, True HEPA H13 | Rs. 9,499 — 19% off | Rs. 9,099 — 22% off | Rs. 9,499 — 19% off | Rs. 11,700 at all three |
| Eureka Forbes 355, True HEPA H13 | Rs. 16,499 — 25% off | Rs. 15,299 — 30% off | Rs. 14,990 — 32% off | Rs. 22,000 at all three |
| Philips AC4221/60 (4000/4200 Series) | Rs. 24,490 — 13% off | Rs. 26,749 — 4% off | Not listed | Rs. 27,995 at both |
| Philips smart purifier on a Rs. 13,995 MRP | Rs. 11,990 — 14% off | Not listed | Rs. 10,299 — 26% off | Rs. 13,995 at both |
| Dyson HushJet Compact | Not listed | Rs. 29,900 — 14% off | Rs. 29,899 — 0% off | Rs. 34,900 vs Rs. 29,900 |
The same Dyson, one rupee apart, badged 14% off and 0% off
The clearest thing on this page is the Dyson HushJet Compact, which Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales both stock and Croma does not. Reliance Digital sells it at Rs. 29,900. Vijay Sales sells it at Rs. 29,899. One rupee apart, on the same afternoon.
What differs is the claim printed next to the price. Reliance Digital states an MRP of Rs. 34,900 and badges the machine 14% off. Vijay Sales states an MRP of Rs. 29,900 and badges it 0% off. Identical machine, identical money, and one retailer is describing it as a saving of five thousand rupees while the other is describing it as no saving at all.
Both listings are duplicated on their own shelves too, which is how we noticed: Reliance Digital lists the black and white HushJet separately at Rs. 29,900 each, and Vijay Sales lists it twice at Rs. 29,899 and Rs. 29,857. Neither retailer is doing anything improper — a stated MRP is the manufacturer's claim and either figure may be a live one somewhere — but if you were choosing between these two chains on the strength of the discount percentage, you would choose the one that is a rupee more expensive.
₹ The badge is not a price signal across retailers. On the Eureka Forbes 355 it happens to work: the 32% badge belongs to the cheapest of the three (Vijay Sales at Rs. 14,990) and the 25% badge to the dearest (Croma at Rs. 16,499). On the Dyson HushJet it is useless: the same price carries a 14% badge at one chain and a 0% badge at the other. Compare the rupee figure and the stated MRP together, or neither number means anything.
One brand, three retailers, three completely different discount policies
Philips is the only brand carried in numbers by all three chains — five listings at Croma, three at Reliance Digital and three at Vijay Sales — and each chain discounts it differently. Reliance Digital badges its three Philips purifiers at 4%, 4% and 6%. Croma badges its five at 11% to 22%. Vijay Sales badges its three at 14% to 26%.
That is not three different sales running in the same week. It is three list-price policies applied to one manufacturer's range, and the AC4221/60 shows what it costs: an identical model number, an identical stated MRP of Rs. 27,995, and Rs. 2,259 between the two prices. The chain with the shallowest Philips badges is the one charging more.
The same split shows up on the shelves as a whole. Croma's fifteen purifier listings run a median badge of 19% and reach 50% on a Honeywell; Reliance Digital's ten run a median of 14% and reach 48%, also on a Honeywell, but bottom out at 2%; Vijay Sales's nine run a median of 17% and never exceed 32%. Honeywell is the brand pulling the deep badges at two of the three chains, and Vijay Sales does not stock it at all.

What each shelf actually looks like
Croma has the widest range by a distance: fifteen listings from Rs. 9,499 to Rs. 86,990, and it is the only one of the three carrying an LG PuriCare above Rs. 80,000 and a Dyson Cool TP12 at Rs. 54,990. It is also the only chain of the three whose air-purifier category contains nothing but air purifiers.
Reliance Digital has the cheapest machine on any of the three shelves — a Honeywell Touch V1 at Rs. 5,159, badged 48% off Rs. 9,999, which is Rs. 2,840 below anything at Vijay Sales and Rs. 4,340 below anything at Croma. Two of its twelve category listings are not air purifiers at all: a Philips humidifier at Rs. 790 and a HYGIA air steriliser at Rs. 999, both of which would appear at the top of a price sort.
Vijay Sales has the narrowest range, nine purifiers between Rs. 7,999 and Rs. 29,899, and five of its fourteen category listings are dehumidifiers costing up to Rs. 49,990. It is the only chain of the three carrying Shark, at Rs. 28,990, and the only one whose deepest badge stays under a third off.

The difference no discount can close: none of these shelves has reviews
Air purifiers are a category where you cannot see the product working, which makes customer evidence unusually valuable. All three chains publish almost none of it.
Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales published no star average and no rating count on a single listing we read — not on the Rs. 5,159 Honeywell, not on the Rs. 58,849 LG. Croma does publish ratings, but thinly: six of its fifteen purifier listings carry a star average and the largest sample among them is eight ratings. Several show five stars from a single rating.
So the honest summary of this comparison is a narrow one. On the models all three stock, the gap is between nothing and Rs. 2,259, and which chain wins depends on the model rather than the chain. Nothing on any of these three shelves tells you whether the machine is any good, and the discount percentage tells you least of all.
Check the model, not the chain
Reliance Digital was cheapest on the Eureka Forbes 270 by Rs. 400, Vijay Sales on the Eureka Forbes 355 by Rs. 1,509, and Croma on the Philips AC4221/60 by Rs. 2,259 — every one of those against an identical stated MRP at both or all three chains.
The one machine priced within a rupee at two chains, the Dyson HushJet Compact, carried a 14% badge at one and a 0% badge at the other. Compare the rupee price and the stated MRP together, and treat the percentage as a description of the second number rather than of your saving.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which retailer is cheapest for air purifiers in September 2026?
It depends on the model, not the retailer. On the three shelves we read on 11 September 2026, Reliance Digital was cheapest on the Eureka Forbes 270 (Rs. 9,099 against Rs. 9,499 at both Croma and Vijay Sales), Vijay Sales on the Eureka Forbes 355 (Rs. 14,990 against Rs. 15,299 and Rs. 16,499), and Croma on the Philips AC4221/60 (Rs. 24,490 against Rs. 26,749). Every one of those comparisons is against an identical stated MRP at both or all three chains. Check the exact model at all three before buying; checkout offers and bank discounts can move any of these figures.
Why does the same Dyson air purifier show 14% off at one store and 0% at another?
Because the two retailers state different maximum retail prices for it. The Dyson HushJet Compact was Rs. 29,900 at Reliance Digital against a stated MRP of Rs. 34,900, and Rs. 29,899 at Vijay Sales against a stated MRP of Rs. 29,900. The selling prices are one rupee apart; the badges are 14% and 0% because the number each retailer entered as the list price differs by Rs. 5,000. A stated MRP is the manufacturer's claim as reproduced by the retailer, and we cannot verify which figure, if either, was ever a live selling price. No wrongdoing by either retailer is implied.
Is a bigger discount badge a reliable way to find the cheaper air purifier?
No. It worked once and failed once in this read. On the Eureka Forbes 355 the badge tracked the price correctly — 32% at Vijay Sales (Rs. 14,990), 30% at Reliance Digital (Rs. 15,299), 25% at Croma (Rs. 16,499) — because all three quote the same Rs. 22,000 MRP. On the Dyson HushJet the same price carried badges of 14% and 0%. The rule that follows: a badge is only comparable between two retailers when the stated MRP underneath it is identical, and you have to check that yourself.
What is the cheapest air purifier at these three chains?
A Honeywell Touch V1 at Rs. 5,159 at Reliance Digital, badged 48% off a stated Rs. 9,999, was the cheapest true air purifier on any of the three shelves. Vijay Sales started at Rs. 7,999 for a Eureka Forbes 230 and Croma at Rs. 9,499 for a Eureka Forbes 270. Be careful with price sorts on two of these shelves: Reliance Digital's air-purifier category also contains a Rs. 790 humidifier and a Rs. 999 steriliser, and Vijay Sales's contains five dehumidifiers — none of which is an air purifier.
Do Croma, Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales show customer ratings on air purifiers?
Barely, and two of them not at all. Reliance Digital and Vijay Sales published no star average and no rating count on any listing in this read. Croma does publish them, but six of its fifteen purifier listings carry a star average and the largest sample among those six is eight ratings, with several showing 5.0 stars from a single rating. On a product whose performance you cannot observe, that means all three shelves leave you buying on the specification sheet, the brand and the price.
Prices & codes last verified: 11 September 2026
All three shelves behind this page were read on the afternoon of 11 September 2026 as served to a logged-out visitor in India, with nothing purchased and no account used. The Croma side is 15 listings from croma.com's own search response for the query "air purifier"; the Reliance Digital side is 12 listings and the Vijay Sales side 14 listings from each retailer's own air-purifier category page. Every selling price, stated maximum retail price and discount percentage is the retailer's own published figure reproduced without adjustment. The matched-model comparisons are ours, made by matching model names and, where printed, model numbers across the same session's results: the Philips AC4221/60 comparison rests on an identical model number appearing on both listings, while the Philips comparison on a stated MRP of Rs. 13,995 rests on the matching list price alone, because Vijay Sales's listing title does not print a model number — we report that as a matching MRP rather than as a proven identity of models, and you should check the model on the live product pages before ordering. Category counts are not like-for-like: Reliance Digital's air-purifier category includes a humidifier and an air steriliser and Vijay Sales's includes five dehumidifiers, which is why this page separates category listings from actual air purifiers in every table. These are three samples of three much larger catalogues, taken once, from result sets all three retailers rank and re-rank continuously, so median and range comparisons describe these samples rather than any retailer's pricing policy. We cannot verify whether any stated maximum retail price was ever a live selling price and make no claim either way — the Dyson HushJet Compact is listed against Rs. 34,900 at one chain and Rs. 29,900 at the other — and no wrongdoing by Croma, by Reliance Digital, by Vijay Sales, or by Dyson, Philips, Eureka Forbes, Honeywell, Xiaomi, LG, Shark or any other brand named is alleged or implied. Filtration stages, HEPA grades, coverage areas in square feet, plasma and electrostatic claims and smart-home support are each listing's own text, quoted as printed and not tested by us; nothing here is a judgement of purification performance, noise, filter life or running cost, and no machine was bought or operated by us. Ratings and rating counts are the retailer's own figures reproduced without auditing them, and a shelf publishing none is an observation about listing data rather than a statement about product quality. Prices change without notice; coupon codes, bank card offers, exchange bonuses, delivery and installation charges and anything applied at checkout are not visible in listing data and can move your final price in either direction at any of the three retailers, and the prices and terms shown at your checkout prevail over anything here. Zoutons may earn a commission if you buy through links on this page; it does not change what you pay, and nothing here was reviewed or approved by any retailer or brand named.
