The two Vijay Sales gift cards are 12 months and 30 days apart
Vijay Sales issues two different gift cards and its published terms treat them very differently. The physical Gift Card is valid for 12 months from the date of issue, can only be redeemed at Vijay Sales / VS DIGI stores, and if you do not spend the whole balance in one go the remainder is adjusted after each transaction until the validity period ends.
The E-Gift Card is valid for 30 days, works only on vijaysales.com, and is described as one time redeemable. Its terms go further: if you do not spend the entire balance, “the remaining balance will not be adjusted in any transaction”. Read plainly, that means an E-Gift Card spent on a cheaper item loses whatever is left on it.
Both cards share the harsher terms. Neither can be exchanged for cash, cancelled, refunded or returned; balances are cancelled at expiry; and Vijay Sales states it will not replace or reimburse a card that is lost, stolen, damaged, deleted or expired. No invoice is generated on the purchase of a gift card — a letter copy is provided instead.

Once it ships, the order cannot be cancelled at all
The published order terms are stricter than most online-shopping habits assume. After payment, no changes can be made to an order, and orders cannot be combined or added to once placed. Most importantly: “Post shipment of your products, orders cannot be cancelled at all.” The cancellation window is the gap between payment and dispatch.
Two clauses are worth knowing before you check out. If a product is listed at an incorrect price, the order may be cancelled regardless of whether it was confirmed or paid for — the money is credited back and you are notified by email. And if delivery fails because of a wrong name or address you supplied, the redelivery cost is claimed from you.
There is also a deadline on your side that is easy to miss: if you do not respond to Vijay Sales' calls, emails or other communication within 8 days from the date of purchase, the published terms let it cancel the order without explanation. Answer the confirmation call.

Vijay Sales asks you to check the contents of the box while accepting the delivery and says that discrepancies must be raised then, “after which no further queries would be entertained”. Installation is the brand's job, and split AC fitting is chargeable
Installation and demonstration on a Vijay Sales order are provided by the manufacturer's authorised service centre or franchisee, not by Vijay Sales, and both happen a minimum of four business days after delivery. If you are planning around a delivery date, that gap is the number to plan around.
For most products, standard installation is complimentary per the brand's norms. Split air conditioners are the exception: standard installation charges apply and are payable by you directly to the brand's service centre. The published scope covers fitting the indoor and outdoor units and interconnecting them with piping.
The exclusions are the part that generates surprise bills: masonry work, supply and installation of the main power phase, electrical work, leak testing where the piping was done by you, drilling holes in pillars, and dismantling an existing split AC all sit outside the standard scope. Demonstrations, where applicable, are on certain products only, and only the first demonstration is complimentary.

What to do with all this
Buy the physical gift card, not the e-card, unless the recipient will spend it in one online order within a month. Twelve months against 30 days, and a carried-over balance against one that is not adjusted in any transaction, are the two differences that decide it.
Decide before dispatch. Cancellation ends at shipment, not at delivery, and no changes are possible once payment is made. If you are unsure about a model, do not place the order to hold the price.
Open the box at the door, and budget for AC fitting. Discrepancies must be raised while you accept the delivery, and split AC installation is a chargeable service billed by the brand's service centre — with electrical work, masonry and dismantling of the old unit all outside the standard scope.

In practice that means using a Rs. 5,000 E-Gift Card on a Rs. 4,000 order risks losing the difference. Can I cancel a Vijay Sales order after placing it?
Only before it ships.
