Vijay Sales delivers your new phone before it collects the old one — and the moment the old one leaves, its FAQ says it cannot come back: it has already gone to a third-party liquidation partner.
That gap is the whole decision. Below, read from Vijay Sales' own FAQ on 3 September 2026: what your old device has to look like to pass, what happens when it fails, and what the VS+ Extended Warranty actually covers once the exclusions are read.

Old device is non-returnable once collected; bonus clawed back on rejection
VS+ up to 4 years (1 for phones), cancellable in 30 days, no cover for drops
📅 Update log:
3 Sep 2026 — first published. Every rule, window, exclusion and quoted phrase was read from vijaysales.com/faqs?faq=payment-and-returns as rendered to a logged-out visitor on 3 September 2026, with nothing purchased, no exchange started and no warranty plan bought. The page carries no revision stamp of its own, so we re-read it and log what changes here.
The exchange becomes irreversible the moment the agent takes your phone
Most of what goes wrong with a trade-in goes wrong at the door, and Vijay Sales' FAQ is unusually direct about the point of no return: “Once the old device has been picked up from you, we will not be able to return or refund it, as it would have already been processed by our third-party liquidation partners.”
The sequencing is in your favour up to that moment. The page states that “the delivery of the new device will be done before the exchange of your old device pickup” — so you have the new phone in hand before the old one leaves. But once it leaves, it is gone, and returning the new device afterwards does not bring it back: the refund is the new device's cost minus the trade-in bonus, and “the exchange of the old device is non-returnable”.
The other expensive surprise is the rejection case. If the old device fails the condition check, the exchange order is cancelled and the trade-in bonus you already received “can be collected separately from the customer”. In other words the discount comes back off, at the door, on a phone you are still holding.
| What happens | What Vijay Sales' FAQ says follows |
|---|
| Old phone fails the condition check at the door | The exchange is rejected and the exchange order cancelled; the trade-in bonus is “collected separately from the customer” |
| You hand over a different device from the one you described | “The entire new device order, or maybe only the exchange order, will be cancelled”, and the refund is net of the trade-in bonus |
| You change your mind after the old device is collected | “We will not be able to return or refund it” — it has gone to a third-party liquidation partner |
| You cancel before the new device is delivered | The new device cost is refunded per the refund policy, and the old device pickup does not proceed |
| You return the new device after the exchange completed | The new device cost is refunded minus the trade-in bonus; the old device is non-returnable |
| Your phone only switches on while plugged in | “We do not accept such devices for exchange” |
| You want to trade a phone against a laptop or TV | Not allowed — exchange is within the same category only |
| You want to trade in two old devices | One old device per purchase |
💡 Check the pin code before you plan around it. The “With Exchange” option appears on the product page for eligible devices only, and the page states exchange “is currently available only in select cities”. Enter your delivery pin code on the product page to see whether it is offered where you live.
What your old phone has to look like to pass
The condition bar is written in some detail, and it is stricter about the screen than about anything else. The display must be “without scratches, dents, cracks, discoloration, stains, lines, dead pixels, and other problems”, and you are asked to remove any screen guard or tempered glass first — which means the protector that has been hiding a scratch for two years comes off before the agent looks.
One clause is worth reading twice if your battery is tired: a phone that “only turns on when connected to a charger” is explicitly not accepted. A device that boots only on mains power fails, whatever else is right about it.
The rest is housekeeping, but skipping it stalls the handover: wipe your data, sign out of iCloud or your Google account, remove lock codes and passwords, charge the device fully and factory-reset it. The one piece of good news is on packaging — the original box and accessories are “preferable” but explicitly not required.
| Requirement | What the FAQ says |
|---|
| Working condition | A mobile being traded in “must be in working condition” |
| Screen | “Without scratches, dents, cracks, discoloration, stains, lines, dead pixels, and other problems” |
| Screen guard off | Any scratch guard, screen guard or tempered glass must be removed before handover |
| Details must match | The device must match what you entered at order time; the delivery person checks the IMEI |
| Data wiped | Personal data deleted, iCloud and Google accounts signed out, lock codes and passwords removed |
| Charged and reset | “Charge the old device fully and reset it to factory settings before handing it over” |
| Box and accessories | “Preferable” but explicitly not required if the device meets the other standards |
| Same address | Pickup and delivery addresses must be the same |
₹ Same category, one device, one address. You can exchange a phone for a phone, not a phone for a laptop or a TV. Only one old device per purchase. Pickup and delivery addresses must match. And these rules cover www.vijaysales.com orders — the FAQ says the conditions here are “exclusively applicable to orders made on www.vijaysales.com”, so a store exchange runs on its own terms.
VS+ Extended Warranty: what you are actually buying
The extended warranty Vijay Sales sells alongside devices is VS+, and the FAQ names its operator: it is “powered by OnsiteGo (Onsite Electro Services Private Limited)”. That matters, because the service terms are OnsiteGo's, not the brand's.
The headline term is up to 4 additional years, with a ceiling: manufacturer warranty plus VS+ “should not exceed 5 years”. So a 2-year manufacturer warranty leaves room for 3 years of VS+, not 4. Phones and tablets are capped much lower — 1 additional year only.
The repair terms are more generous than most: there is no limit on the number of service requests, and repairs continue until the total cost of all repairs reaches the value of the device. If a single repair would cost more than the device's current market value, the device is replaced instead — though replacement comes “in the form of new or refurbished device or Gift Cards”, so a refurbished unit or store credit satisfies the obligation. And the plan is cancellable within 30 days for a refund, provided you have not already filed a service request.
| VS+ rule | The detail |
|---|
| How long | Up to 4 additional years, but manufacturer warranty plus VS+ “should not exceed 5 years” |
| Phones and tablets | 1 additional year only |
| Number of repairs | No limit, “till the total costs of all repairs do not exceed the value of the device” |
| If one repair costs more than the device | The device is replaced — “new or refurbished device or Gift Cards” |
| Cancelling the plan | Within 30 days for a refund, provided no service request has been filed |
| Eligibility | The device needs a minimum 12-month manufacturer's warranty applicable in India, and no other care pack or extended warranty |
| Reporting a fault | Call 022 6622 7722 or email vscaremumbai@vijaysales.com “within 7 days” |
| Preventive maintenance | One check-up per year of the plan; 1 dry service for air conditioners, 1 for water purifiers |
| Abroad | A device bought in India that breaks down while travelling is covered on its return to India |
| Who runs it | “Powered by OnsiteGo (Onsite Electro Services Private Limited)” |
The exclusions are where an extended warranty usually disappoints
VS+ covers what the page calls issues that occur “organically or in simple terms ‘on its own’ and without any external factor”. That sentence does a lot of work. Physical damage, liquid damage and power surges are outside the scope — a dropped phone, a wet laptop or an appliance killed by a voltage spike is not a VS+ claim.
Normal wear and tear is excluded too, and the page gives concrete examples rather than leaving it vague: issues in a microwave cavity, empty printer cartridges, damage to laptop hinges, and breakage of mixer or juicer blades. Consumables and accessories — water purifier filters are the named case — are not covered either.
There is also a timing condition people miss: you must report a malfunction within 7 days, on 022 6622 7722 or vscaremumbai@vijaysales.com. And if you prefer to take the device to an authorised service centre yourself, the page says you may — but Vijay Sales needs to be informed “BEFORE submitting the device”.
| Not covered | What the page says |
|---|
| Physical damage, liquid damage, power surges | VS+ covers issues that occur “organically” and “without any external factor” — a dropped or wet device is outside the plan |
| Normal wear and tear | Named examples: “Issues in the cavity of a Microwave, Empty cartridges in a Printer, Damages to hinges of a laptop, Breakage of the blades of a Mixer or Juicer” |
| Accessories and consumables | “Malfunctioning accessories or consumable items like filters for water purifiers are not covered” |
| Devices bought outside India | Not covered at all |
| Commercial use, modification, unauthorised repair | All three void the manufacturer's warranty and therefore VS+ with it |
| Faults that began before the plan | The malfunction must occur during the VS+ term, “and not prior to it” |
Two order-cancellation rules from the same terms page
Reading the wider terms alongside the exchange FAQ turns up a clause that is easy to trip over. If a customer does not respond to Vijay Sales' calls or emails “within the 8 days from date of purchased”, the page states Vijay Sales “has to right to cancel any order without any explanation”. For a large appliance where delivery is being scheduled by phone, that is a real deadline on answering your phone.
The broader clause is standard but worth knowing: Vijay Sales “reserves the right to cancel any order without any explanation for doing so” where it cannot meet the order or the order does not comply with its policy, with communication and any applicable refund “in reasonable time”. It also reserves the right to cancel any order placed with a credit card holding an international billing address.
If you are comparing where to buy before any of this applies, our Vijay Sales kitchen appliance price page and AC price comparison against Croma cover what the shelf charges.
| Cancellation rule | What it means |
|---|
| Vijay Sales can cancel any order | It “reserves the right to cancel any order without any explanation for doing so”, with communication and any applicable refund “in reasonable time” |
| Not answering the phone can cancel your order | If a customer does not respond to calls or emails “within the 8 days from date of purchased”, Vijay Sales states it has the right to cancel |
| International billing addresses | It reserves the right to cancel any order placed with a credit card holding an international billing address |
| Where disputes are heard | The agreement is governed by the laws of India and “the place of jurisdiction shall be in Mumbai” |
How this page was read, and what it does not tell you
Every rule, window, exclusion, contact detail and quoted phrase above was read from vijaysales.com/faqs?faq=payment-and-returns as rendered to a logged-out visitor in India on 3 September 2026 — a plain request does not return the FAQ body, so the page was read in a rendered browser session with nothing purchased, no order placed, no exchange started and no warranty plan bought or claimed against.
What that means for what you can conclude. The page carries no revision date of its own, and Vijay Sales can change these terms without telling us; the version live when you order is the one that governs it, and the terms shown at your checkout prevail over anything here. This is a summary in our words with direct quotations, not a substitute for reading the FAQ and the VS+ documentation in full, and it is not legal advice. We are describing a published programme, not how it is applied: nothing here reports whether any individual exchange is accepted or rejected, what trade-in value any device attracts, how a delivery agent judges a screen in practice, how long a repair actually takes, whether any claim is approved, or how disputes are resolved. Trade-in valuations are quoted at order time by Vijay Sales and its exchange partner and are not something we can predict or verify. VS+ Extended Warranty is operated by OnsiteGo (Onsite Electro Services Private Limited) and its full terms live on onsitego.com; we have not audited them. Consumers in India may have statutory rights that exist independently of any retailer's stated policy, and nothing here describes or limits those rights. Store purchases, bulk and B2B orders and brand warranties operate under separate terms. No wrongdoing by Vijay Sales, OnsiteGo, Cashify or any brand named is alleged or implied.
What to do, in order
Before you order. Enter your pin code and confirm “With Exchange” actually appears — it is select cities only. Describe the old device accurately, because the delivery agent verifies it against what you entered, and a mismatch cancels the order. Find the IMEI by dialling *#06#.
The night before delivery. Take the tempered glass off and look at the screen properly. Back up, then wipe: sign out of iCloud or Google, remove lock codes, factory reset, and charge it fully. If your phone only powers on while plugged in, stop here — it will not be accepted.
At the door. The new device is delivered first, then the old one is collected. That gap is your last chance to change your mind, because after collection the old device is with a liquidation partner and cannot be returned. If you think you might return the new device, note that the exchange bonus is not refunded either way — the page calls it a “limited-time promotional offer”.
If you bought VS+. Keep the invoice with the IMEI or serial number on it, report any malfunction within 7 days on 022 6622 7722, and remember you can cancel the plan within 30 days for a refund if you have not claimed.
The short version
Vijay Sales' online exchange is one-way from the moment the agent collects your old device: it goes to a third-party liquidation partner and “we will not be able to return or refund it”. The new device arrives first, which is your only window. A failed condition check cancels the exchange and the trade-in bonus is collected back. Screens must be unmarked, a phone that runs only on the charger is refused, and the device must match what you described — IMEI checked at the door. One device, same category, same address; the box is optional.
VS+ Extended Warranty runs up to 4 extra years (1 for phones and tablets), capped at 5 years total with the manufacturer's, with unlimited repairs until their cost reaches the device's value and replacement — possibly refurbished or as gift cards — beyond that. It is cancellable within 30 days if unclaimed. It does not cover drops, liquid, power surges, wear and tear or consumables, and faults must be reported within 7 days. Separately, not answering Vijay Sales' calls for 8 days after purchase can get your order cancelled.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I get my old phone back after a Vijay Sales exchange?
No. Vijay Sales' FAQ states that “once the old device has been picked up from you, we will not be able to return or refund it, as it would have already been processed by our third-party liquidation partners.” That holds even if you return the new device afterwards: in that case the new device cost is refunded minus the trade-in bonus, and “the exchange of the old device is non-returnable”. If you cancel before the new device is delivered, the old device pickup simply does not proceed and the new device cost is refunded per the refund policy. Read from vijaysales.com/faqs?faq=payment-and-returns on 3 September 2026.
What condition does my old phone need to be in for a Vijay Sales exchange?
It must be in working condition, and the screen requirement is the strict part: “without scratches, dents, cracks, discoloration, stains, lines, dead pixels, and other problems”, with any screen guard or tempered glass removed before the check. A phone that only turns on when connected to a charger is explicitly not accepted. You must also delete personal data, sign out of iCloud or Google, remove lock codes, charge the device fully and factory reset it. The original box and accessories are “preferable” but not required. The delivery agent verifies the IMEI against what you entered at order time.
What happens if my old device is rejected at delivery?
The FAQ says that if the device “fails to meet the specified conditions, it will be rejected, resulting in the cancellation of the exchanged order with the given trade-in bonus amount, in case it is applied or can be collected separately from the customer”. In practice that means the discount you were given for trading in comes back off. The same applies if you hand over a different device from the one you described: “the entire new device order, or maybe only the exchange order, will be cancelled, and the new device price will be refunded post deduction of trade-in (bonus) charges”.
How long is VS+ Extended Warranty and what does it not cover?
VS+ runs for up to 4 additional years after the manufacturer's warranty, capped so that the two together do not exceed 5 years; mobile phones and tablets get 1 additional year only. It does not cover physical damage, liquid damage or power surges — it covers faults occurring “organically” and “without any external factor” — nor normal wear and tear (the page names microwave cavity issues, empty printer cartridges, laptop hinge damage and broken mixer or juicer blades), consumables such as water purifier filters, devices bought outside India, commercial use, or unauthorised repair or modification. Faults must be reported within 7 days on 022 6622 7722.
Can I cancel a VS+ Extended Warranty plan?
Yes, within 30 days. The FAQ says the plan “can be cancelled within 30 days, provided you have not already filed a Service Request”, and that a refund will be issued. Separately, VS+ places no limit on how many service requests you can raise: Vijay Sales says it will “keep repairing the device till the total costs of all repairs do not exceed the value of the device”, and if any single repair would cost more than the device's current market value the device is replaced — “in the form of new or refurbished device or Gift Cards”. The programme is operated by OnsiteGo (Onsite Electro Services Private Limited).
