Tata CLiQ's terms of use carry one deadline shorter than almost anything else in them, and it is the one to know before a multi-piece order lands: "Missing products claims will not be accepted after 3 days from delivery date." The clause above it confirms the scope — a package "missing one or more products or accessories", one that "does not include the freebie", or an order that is "partly delivered", all within three days.
We read tatacliq.com/terms-of-use first-party on 9 October 2026, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Below: that three-day clock, the PAN requirement above Rs. 2 lakh that cancels an order automatically, the three-attempt delivery rule, the marketplace's double disclaimer of liability, the doorstep clause worth memorising, and the dark-patterns self-declaration most retailers do not publish. This reports published terms and expresses no view on whether any would be enforced; nothing here is legal advice.

Three days to say something was missing
Tata CLiQ's terms of use run to a few dozen screens of ordinary marketplace machinery. One deadline inside them is shorter than most shoppers would guess, and it is the one worth knowing before a multi-piece order arrives:
"Missing products claims will not be accepted after 3 days from delivery date."
The obligation that sits above it is stated just as plainly. "In the event, the product package received by You is missing one or more products or accessories or does not include the freebie or the order is partly delivered, You should inform Tata CLiQ Fashion through the Customer Care Team within 3 days of delivery date of the package."
Note how much that one window covers: a missing product, a missing accessory, a missing freebie, and a partly delivered order. A six-piece dinner set that arrives with five pieces, a watch that arrives without its extra strap, a bundle whose free item never shipped — all of them sit under the same three days. Set that against the return windows the same document describes for the goods themselves, which run to seven days on some exclusive women's apparel brands and longer elsewhere. You get less time to report that something never arrived than to decide you do not want what did.
Time-limiting a shortage claim is ordinary and sensible — after a few days nobody can tell what was in a box — and no wrongdoing is alleged. The practical response is simply to open and count a multi-item delivery on the day it arrives rather than when you next need it.
Rs. 2 lakh, a PAN card, and an order that cancels itself
A clause most shoppers will never hit, and a sharp one for anyone buying jewellery, a watch or a large festive order. "For all the purchase of an amount equal to or exceeding INR 2,00,000 (INR two lakhs only), You will be required to upload a copy of Your PAN card, within such time as may be prescribed from the date of purchase, failing which, the purchase made by You will be automatically cancelled."
The terms add that it is a one-off: "The requirement to provide a copy of PAN card is one time activity and You don't need to submit it again."
Collecting a PAN above a stated purchase value is a tax-compliance requirement, not a retailer's whim, and nothing here suggests otherwise. What is worth reading carefully is the consequence and its timing: the cancellation is automatic, and the deadline is "such time as may be prescribed" rather than a stated number of days. If you place a two-lakh order, the clock that matters is the one in the message asking for the document, and the terms do not tell you how long it is.
A related clause governs payments generally: Tata CLiQ "is not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused to You when making payment or for any wrongful debits to Your cards or net banking account" when a transaction fails at the gateway — the terms list seven reasons a payment can fail and direct you to your bank for all of them.

Who is responsible when the product is wrong
This is a marketplace, and its terms say so in the strongest form the model allows. The same sentence appears twice in the document, once under missing items and once under damaged ones: "Tata CLiQ Fashion is only a facilitating link between You and the seller and will not be liable in any manner."
It is reinforced a few lines later: "You expressly acknowledge that the seller is solely responsible for the damaged or defective product or a product that does not meet the specifications of Your original order or delayed delivery of the order or delivery of the package with one or more products or accessories missing". And on listings generally: "All product and price information, deals and offers related to the products are provided by the seller ... the sellers are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information, validity of the prices, charges, deals, offers and other information".
The warranty position matches. "All products or services are made available through the App on an 'AS IS' basis and 'AS AVAILABLE BASIS' without any warranty of any kind, express, implied, statutory or otherwise", and Tata CLiQ "does not endorse or warrant the quality, quantity, stability, use, price or other specifications of the products offered for sale by the sellers".
This is the standard architecture of every Indian online marketplace and nothing improper is alleged by describing it — the same structure sits in Flipkart's seller terms and in Amazon's conditions of use. What a consumer may actually claim, and from whom, is governed by consumer law and by the e-commerce rules regardless of how a terms page allocates responsibility, and that is a question for a consumer commission rather than for a shopping page. The terms do say Tata CLiQ "will coordinate with You and the seller to reach an amicable solution" in a dispute.
One clause runs the other way and is worth crediting: "Title and risk of loss for all products ordered by You shall pass on to You upon delivery of the products at the shipping address provided by You." Until the parcel is in your hands, a loss in transit is not your loss.
Three delivery attempts, and what to do at the door
The delivery terms are more specific than most, and two of them are genuinely actionable. "The logistics service provider assigned by Tata CLiQ Fashion will make a maximum of three [3] attempts to deliver Your order. In case You are not reachable, available or do not accept delivery of products in these attempts Tata CLiQ Fashion reserves the right to cancel the order at its discretion." After that, the terms say, the route back is to place a fresh order rather than to revive the old one.
The second is the clause to remember on the doorstep: "Before accepting delivery of any product, kindly ensure that the product's packaging is not damaged or tampered. If You observe that the package is damaged or tampered, You are requested to refuse to accept delivery", and to "fill the delivery sheet / acknowledgement used by the logistics service providers and note down the condition of the delivered package." Writing the damage on the courier's sheet before you sign is the single most useful thing in this entire document.
Two smaller provisions round it out. Bulky goods are carved out of the normal logistics chain — the terms note that "large and bulky products such as televisions, refrigerators, air-" conditioners and the like are handled separately — and a delivery can be routed to a partner store for collection, with returns going back to the same store. Delivery timeframes are explicitly not promises: "Delivery timeframes are just estimates and are not guaranteed delivery timeframes and should not be relied upon as such."
The dark-patterns declaration, and how to use this page
One paragraph here appears on very few retail terms pages and deserves quoting in full: "We affirm that our platform complies with the CCPA Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023 and does not engage in any deceptive design practices and is free from dark patterns. This self-declaration reflects our commitment to transparency, consumer trust, and a fair digital e"-commerce experience. It is a self-declaration rather than a certification, which the wording itself makes clear, and nothing on this page assesses whether it is accurate — but publishing one at all is more than most of the sector does, and it is to the retailer's credit.
Five practical points, none of them legal advice. One: open and count a multi-piece delivery the day it arrives — the window for reporting anything missing, including an accessory or a freebie, is three days. Two: if the box looks tampered with, refuse it and write the condition on the courier's sheet; the terms ask for exactly that and it is far easier than arguing afterwards. Three: answer the PAN request quickly on any order of Rs. 2 lakh or more, because the cancellation is automatic and the deadline is not stated in the terms. Four: be reachable for three delivery attempts, after which cancellation is at the retailer's discretion and you start again. Five: note that disputes are governed by Indian law with the courts in Mumbai given exclusive jurisdiction, which does not displace a consumer's own statutory options. Everything above is Tata CLiQ's published text as it stood on 9 October 2026, and a published policy can be amended at any time. This page describes contract terms and expresses no view on whether any of them would be enforced; nothing here is legal advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to report a missing item from a Tata CLiQ order?
Three days, and the window covers more than you might expect. The terms state: "In the event, the product package received by You is missing one or more products or accessories or does not include the freebie or the order is partly delivered, You should inform Tata CLiQ Fashion through the Customer Care Team within 3 days of delivery date of the package", followed by "Missing products claims will not be accepted after 3 days from delivery date." So a missing product, a missing accessory, a missing freebie and a partial delivery all sit under the same clock — which is shorter than the return windows the same document describes for goods that did arrive. Time-limiting a shortage claim is ordinary and no wrongdoing is alleged; the practical answer is to open and count the box on delivery day.
Why does Tata CLiQ ask for a PAN card on large orders?
Because its terms require one above a stated value, and the consequence of not providing it is automatic. "For all the purchase of an amount equal to or exceeding INR 2,00,000 (INR two lakhs only), You will be required to upload a copy of Your PAN card, within such time as may be prescribed from the date of purchase, failing which, the purchase made by You will be automatically cancelled." The terms add that it is a "one time activity and You don't need to submit it again". Collecting a PAN above a stated purchase value is a tax-compliance requirement rather than a retailer's choice and nothing improper is alleged. The detail worth noting is that the deadline is "such time as may be prescribed" and is not stated in the terms, so act on the request when it arrives.
Is Tata CLiQ or the seller responsible if a product arrives damaged?
The terms place it on the seller, in two places. "You expressly acknowledge that the seller is solely responsible for the damaged or defective product or a product that does not meet the specifications of Your original order or delayed delivery of the order or delivery of the package with one or more products or accessories missing", and "Tata CLiQ Fashion is only a facilitating link between You and the seller and will not be liable in any manner." Products are listed "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE BASIS" without any warranty of any kind. This is the standard marketplace structure used across the sector and no wrongdoing is alleged. What a consumer may claim and from whom is governed by consumer law and the e-commerce rules regardless of how a terms page allocates responsibility, and that is a matter for a court or consumer commission. The terms do say Tata CLiQ will "coordinate with You and the seller to reach an amicable solution".
What happens if I miss the Tata CLiQ delivery?
You get three attempts. "The logistics service provider assigned by Tata CLiQ Fashion will make a maximum of three [3] attempts to deliver Your order. In case You are not reachable, available or do not accept delivery of products in these attempts Tata CLiQ Fashion reserves the right to cancel the order at its discretion." If that happens, the terms direct you to place a fresh order rather than revive the cancelled one. The terms also note that "Delivery timeframes are just estimates and are not guaranteed delivery timeframes and should not be relied upon as such", and that an order can instead be sent to a partner store for collection. Until the parcel reaches you, risk stays with the seller: "Title and risk of loss ... shall pass on to You upon delivery of the products at the shipping address."
What should I do if a Tata CLiQ package looks tampered with?
Refuse it, and write it down. The terms ask for exactly that: "Before accepting delivery of any product, kindly ensure that the product's packaging is not damaged or tampered. If You observe that the package is damaged or tampered, You are requested to refuse to accept delivery", and to "fill the delivery sheet / acknowledgement used by the logistics service providers and note down the condition of the delivered package." The terms also set a deadline on damage claims once a package has been accepted, in the same family as the three-day missing-items window. Noting the condition on the courier's own sheet before signing is the single most useful step in the whole document, because it creates a record at the moment it matters.
