Beauty and fragrance packshots on a colour-block banner — the Nykaa shelf these terms and conditions govern

Nykaa's terms page is 37 KB of text almost nobody opens, and four of its clauses are worth fifteen minutes. The 30-minute delivery is described, in writing, as an average that is "not legally binding". Your order counts as an offer that Nykaa accepts only when the parcel arrives, which is also the deadline on its right to re-price. The liability cap is a sentence with no number at the end of it. And there is a one-year limit on bringing a claim. Read 12 October 2026, logged out, nothing bought. Published text only; not legal or medical advice.

The 30-minute delivery has a clause attached to it

Nykaa's terms split delivery into two models — "Standard Delivery and Nykaa Now (expedited delivery)" — and say plainly that "specific rules regarding shipping, cancellations, and returns vary depending on the delivery model selected."

Then comes the clause worth knowing before you order anything on the fast tier, quoted in full: "No Binding Guarantee: Delivery timelines featured in marketing materials (e.g., ‘30-Minute Delivery’) are averages based on ideal conditions and are not legally binding guarantees."

The page also defines when the clock runs, which matters if you are timing a delivery for an occasion: "The delivery clock commences strictly upon successful order confirmation and payment, and ends upon order delivery at the specified address." Not from when you add to basket; from when payment goes through.

And it names what can stop it: "Actual delivery times are subject to real-time constraints, including rider availability, traffic congestion, adverse weather conditions, and store operational stability. Nykaa shall not be held liable for delays arising from unforeseen or uncontrollable circumstances."

This is not unusual drafting — quick-commerce timers are averages almost everywhere. It is simply useful to know that the number in the app is an estimate the terms expressly decline to guarantee.

Your order is an offer, and it is accepted at the doorstep

Most shoppers assume a confirmed order is a concluded contract at the price shown. Nykaa's terms describe something different.

First, on pricing: "NYKAA strives to provide accurate product and pricing information, however errors may occur… NYKAA cannot confirm the price of the product until you make the order."

Second, on what happens if a price is wrong: if a product "is listed at an incorrect price or with incorrect information due to any technical error, NYKAA shall have the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any orders placed for that product/ service, unless the product has already been delivered or the service has already been availed by you."

Third, the acceptance clause itself: "Unless the product ordered by you has been delivered and the services are availed, your offer will not be deemed accepted and NYKAA will have the right to modify the price of the product/ service and contact you for further instructions… or cancel the order and notify you of such cancellation."

Delivery is the moment the deal is done. Until then the terms reserve the right to re-price or cancel — with the money returned: "If we have to cancel the order after we have processed the payment, the said amount will be reversed to your credit / debit card account." Note also that payment can be taken first: "The payment may be processed prior to NYKAA's dispatch of the product that you have ordered."

Reproduced exactly as published: "IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR MAXIMUM AGGREGATE LIABILITY EXCEED." The sentence ends there on the page we read — no figure, no formula. We report that as an absence in the published text and draw no conclusion from it; the liability section around it is written in capitals and runs to several paragraphs.

A one-year clock, and one named remedy

Two clauses sit next to each other in the liability section, both in Nykaa's own capitals.

The time limit: "YOU AGREE THAT NO CLAIMS OR ACTION ARISING OUT OF, OR RELATED TO, THE USE OF THE SITE OR THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS MAY BE BROUGHT BY YOU MORE THAN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION RELATING TO SUCH CLAIM OR ACTION AROSE."

The remedy: "IF YOU HAVE A DISPUTE WITH US OR ARE DISSATISFIED WITH THE SITE, TERMINATION OF YOUR USE OF THE SITE IS YOUR SOLE REMEDY. WE HAVE NO OTHER OBLIGATION, LIABILITY, OR RESPONSIBILITY TO YOU." The page adds that "This disclaimer constitutes an essential part of this Terms of Use."

Separately, the dispute route is arbitration: "Any dispute or difference either in interpretation or otherwise… shall be referred to an independent arbitrator who will be appointed by mutually and his decision shall be final and binding on the parties hereto", under "the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 as amended from time to time", with the terms "construed in accordance with the applicable laws of India". Nykaa reserves a court route for itself for injunctive relief protecting its trademarks and confidential information.

Whether a contract term can shorten a limitation period or displace a statutory consumer remedy is a question for a court or regulator, not for us. We are reporting what the document says. Statutory consumer rights apply to a transaction regardless of how a website's terms are drafted.

Who is answerable for the product itself

The intermediary clause is short and consequential: "Nykaa operates as an intermediary facilitating transactions between independent sellers and buyers. We do not take ownership of the goods, nor do we manufacture or inspect them. Consequently, liability regarding product claims or trademark infringement remains between the buyer and the" seller.

On reactions — the single most relevant clause on a beauty platform: "In case any products or beauty services purchased / received / availed causes side effects or doesn't suit you, please note that NYKAA is in no manner responsible for any manufactural side-effects or service provider and manufacturer or service provider of the product or service shall be solely responsible for such side effects and consumer complaints. You should carefully read the individual terms and conditions in relation to the products and beauty services and consult a specialist before the use of the same."

On the product page itself: "NYKAA does not warrant that the product description, colour, information or other content of the Platform is accurate, complete, reliable, current or error-free… The product pictures are indicative and may not match the actual product." Shade-matching from a listing photo is expressly not something the terms stand behind.

Credit where it is due on the tools. The SkinScan feature carries its own warning: it "is for informational purposes only and is not intended to provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment… Nykaa and its affiliates are not responsible for any actions taken or decisions made based on the results of the Skin Analyzer", and users are asked not to rely on results "for any health-related decisions without consulting a qualified medical professional." The same caution is applied to the beauty Experts whose opinions appear on the site.

The consent clause, and the one on charges

Acceptance is framed as automatic: "By mere accessing or using the Platform, you are acknowledging, without limitation or qualification, to be bound by these Terms of Use", and in capitals, "ACCESSING, BROWSING OR OTHERWISE USING THE PLATFORM INDICATES YOUR UNCONDITIONAL AGREEMENT TO ALL THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS IN THIS AGREEMENT".

Changes are unilateral and immediate: Nykaa "reserves the unilateral right to change the particulars contained in the Terms of Use or the Policies from time to time and at any time, without notice to its users and in its sole discretion"; any change is "effective immediately from the date of such upload"; and continued use is acceptance "whether or not you have read them". The page's own advice follows: "For this reason, you should frequently review these Terms of Use… and any other applicable policies, including their dates".

The best clause on the page is about money, and it is a good one. On fees: "all applicable charges and parameters (such as delivery fees for orders below ₹299 or dynamic surcharges) are transparently displayed on the checkout page prior to payment. We confirm that there are no charges other than those explicitly mentioned at the time of" payment. A written commitment that nothing is added after the checkout screen is worth more than most of the disclaimers around it.

One more practical line, on payments: "COD mode of payment is available for almost all pin codes within India on orders above INR 249. We do not ship internationally currently."

Smaller clauses that are easy to miss
  • Chat transcripts are kept, and you cannot ask for them. "Communication through Chat/Call may be stored by NYKAA for future reference, and the user of such service will not have the right to access such" information.
  • Deleting what you posted takes up to 30 business days, and the request must carry your name, user name, the email on the account, the reason and the posting dates — "We may not be able to process your deletion request if you are unable to provide such information to us."
  • Buying for someone else binds them, or binds you. If you use the site on another person's behalf, "you represent that you have the authority to bind that person"; if they refuse, "you agree to accept liability for any harm caused by any wrongful use of the Site".
  • Personal use only. Products and samples "shall not be sold or resold for any/commercial" purpose, and the site is "only to be used for your personal non-commercial use and information".
  • Out of stock cancels the order. If Nykaa cannot deliver "on time or at all… your order will be automatically cancelled", and it "shall not be liable to pay for any damages in such an event".
  • The account is yours to guard. You "accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account and password", and Nykaa may block or suspend an account on a suspected breach "without any liability to NYKAA".
  • Scraping is out. The terms prohibit using "any engine, software, tool, agent or other device or mechanism (including without limitation browsers, spiders, robots, avatars or intelligent agents)" to navigate the site other than its own search and ordinary browsers.

What to take away

  • Treat the delivery timer as an estimate — the terms say marketing timelines "are not legally binding guarantees".
  • Screenshot the price you paid. Acceptance happens at delivery, and until then the terms reserve a right to re-price or cancel on a listing error.
  • Read the pack, not the listing photo. Pictures are "indicative and may not match the actual product".
  • Patch-test, and keep the packaging. The terms point side-effect responsibility at the manufacturer or service provider, so the batch details matter.
  • Check the checkout screen, not the cart. Delivery fees below Rs. 299 and any surcharge are promised to be shown there before payment.
  • Dates move. Changes take effect the moment they are posted, with no notice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Nykaa's 30-minute delivery guaranteed?
Not on the wording of its own terms. Under the Nykaa Now section the page says: "No Binding Guarantee: Delivery timelines featured in marketing materials (e.g., ‘30-Minute Delivery’) are averages based on ideal conditions and are not legally binding guarantees." It also defines the clock — it "commences strictly upon successful order confirmation and payment, and ends upon order delivery at the specified address" — and lists rider availability, traffic, weather and "store operational stability" as constraints for which Nykaa "shall not be held liable". Read 12 October 2026.
Can Nykaa cancel my order after taking the money?
The terms describe that sequence explicitly. "The payment may be processed prior to NYKAA's dispatch of the product that you have ordered", and on a listing error Nykaa has "the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any orders placed for that product/ service, unless the product has already been delivered". If that happens after payment, "the said amount will be reversed to your credit / debit card account". Separately, if the item cannot be delivered, "your order will be automatically cancelled" and Nykaa "shall not be liable to pay for any damages in such an event".
Who is responsible if a Nykaa product causes a reaction?
The terms point away from the platform: "NYKAA is in no manner responsible for any manufactural side-effects or service provider and manufacturer or service provider of the product or service shall be solely responsible for such side effects and consumer complaints", with the advice to "consult a specialist before the use of the same". The platform also describes itself as an intermediary that does "not take ownership of the goods, nor do we manufacture or inspect them". This is a description of a contract document, not medical or legal advice, and statutory consumer rights apply regardless of how any document allocates responsibility. For any reaction, see a qualified medical professional.
How long do I have to raise a dispute with Nykaa?
The document states a one-year limit in capitals: "NO CLAIMS OR ACTION ARISING OUT OF, OR RELATED TO, THE USE OF THE SITE OR THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS MAY BE BROUGHT BY YOU MORE THAN ONE (1) YEAR AFTER THE CAUSE OF ACTION RELATING TO SUCH CLAIM OR ACTION AROSE", alongside "TERMINATION OF YOUR USE OF THE SITE IS YOUR SOLE REMEDY". Disputes are otherwise referred to a mutually appointed arbitrator under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, with Indian law governing. Whether such a clause binds a consumer is a matter for a court or regulator; nothing here is legal advice.
Does Nykaa add charges after checkout?
Its terms say no, and the commitment is written down: "all applicable charges and parameters (such as delivery fees for orders below ₹299 or dynamic surcharges) are transparently displayed on the checkout page prior to payment. We confirm that there are no charges other than those explicitly mentioned at the time of" payment. The page also notes "COD mode of payment is available for almost all pin codes within India on orders above INR 249" and that Nykaa does not currently ship internationally. Fees and thresholds change without notice — check the checkout screen.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every quotation on this page is Nykaa's own published text, read on 12 October 2026 from nykaa.com/terms-conditions, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased, no order placed, no account opened, no chat or call initiated and Nykaa not contacted. Quotations are reproduced verbatim, including the source's own spelling, grammar, capitalisation and punctuation, and any emphasis is ours; where a sentence in the source is incomplete it is reproduced as it appears and identified as such. This page describes what a published document says. It is a summary for general information, it is not legal, medical or financial advice, and it must not be relied on as a statement of the law or of your rights. Whether any clause described here is valid, binding or enforceable against a consumer is a matter for a court or a regulator, and we do not assess it; a contract term does not determine statutory rights. Nothing on this page alleges or implies that FSN E-Commerce Ventures Limited, Nykaa E-Retail Private Limited, any seller, brand or manufacturer on the platform has breached any law, rule or regulation, has used an unfair contract term, an unfair trade practice, a dark pattern or misleading advertising, or has committed any wrongdoing of any kind. The incomplete liability sentence is reported as it was published and we draw no conclusion from it; it may be a typographical or publishing error and may be corrected at any time. We did not test any delivery timeline, did not place an order and make no claim about how quickly any order is delivered or how any cancellation, refund or complaint would be handled in practice. Nothing here is guidance on skin, hair or health: product reactions and skincare decisions are matters for a qualified medical professional, and the SkinScan and Expert disclaimers quoted are Nykaa's own. Statutory consumer rights apply to a transaction regardless of what a website's terms say, and nothing on this page limits them; a buyer who cannot resolve a dispute retains whatever remedies the law provides, including recourse to the consumer redressal machinery under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. No price, discount, delivery fee, threshold or coupon code is asserted as current anywhere on this page, and no product, brand or seller is rated, recommended or criticised. Terms, policies, fees and thresholds change without notice and are stated by Nykaa to take effect immediately on posting; the text published on nykaa.com prevails over anything here.
