Nykaa's sunscreen and serum shelves are barely discounted — a 10 to 11 per cent median — while the shampoo aisle next to them runs at 20 per cent and hands out 40 per cent badges.
Forty-seven listings, read 2 September 2026. Below: every price in the three aisles, which bottles India actually buys, and why a shelf where everything scores 4.4 gives you nothing to choose on except price.

📅 Update log:
2 Sep 2026 — first published. All 47 listings, prices, MRPs, discount percentages, ratings and rating counts were read from nykaa.com's own search results for shampoo, face serum and sunscreen on 2 September 2026, logged out. Nothing was purchased. Nykaa applies cart-level offers, bank discounts and Prive benefits at checkout. We re-read these shelves and log what has moved.
Which aisle you are in decides the discount
Forty-seven listings came back from Nykaa's own search on 2 September 2026 across shampoo, face serum and sunscreen. Split them by aisle and the discounts separate cleanly: shampoo is marked down twice as hard as skincare.
The shampoo shelf runs a 20 per cent median and holds the four deepest badges on the page — TRESemmé at 40 per cent, Himalaya at 40, Dove at 35, L'Oreal Paris at 35. Serums and sunscreens sit at a 10 and 11 per cent median, and most of the big skincare names barely move: Minimalist's three listings are all 5 per cent off.
So the honest framing for a Nykaa basket is that the sunscreen and serum you want are close to full price whenever you buy them, while the shampoo genuinely fluctuates.
| Aisle | Listings | Price range | Median | Discount range | Median off |
|---|
| Shampoo and conditioner | 13 | Rs. 328 – Rs. 1,035 | Rs. 599 | 3–40% | 20% |
| Face serum | 18 | Rs. 195 – Rs. 3,591 | Rs. 592 | 5–40% | 10% |
| Sunscreen | 16 | Rs. 330 – Rs. 1,710 | Rs. 393 | 5–25% | 11% |
💡 Sunscreen on Nykaa is a Rs. 330–500 category. Twelve of the 16 SPF listings are under Rs. 500 and four Dot & Key sunscreens are priced at exactly Rs. 387. Paying more than Rs. 700 buys an imported label, not a higher SPF.
The sunscreen shelf, cheapest first
Every sunscreen here is SPF 50 or 50+. The cheapest is a Foxtale glow SPF 50 at Rs. 330; the most expensive is a Eucerin pigment-control fluid at Rs. 1,710, more than five times the price for the same SPF number.
In between sits the part of the shelf that India actually buys: The Derma Co's hyaluronic aqua gel at Rs. 615 with 1,84,522 ratings, Dot & Key's Vitamin C+E at Rs. 387 with 1,69,000, Minimalist's multi-vitamin at Rs. 379 with 1,61,362, Dr. Sheth's ceramide at Rs. 449 with 1,32,043.
Discounts are thin and uniform: nothing on the sunscreen shelf is more than 25 per cent off, and the deepest badge belongs to a tinted sunscreen from a smaller label. Our Nykaa vs Amazon sunscreen comparison checks whether the other storefront is cheaper on the same bottles.

Serums: Rs. 195 to Rs. 3,591 for the same shelf
The serum aisle has the widest price spread in this pull — a Plix alpha arbutin at Rs. 195 at one end and a Eucerin Thiamidol dual serum at Rs. 3,591 at the other, an eighteenfold gap between two products sold for the same job.
Median discount is 10 per cent, and the pattern inside it is worth knowing: the two deepest cuts (Plix at 40 per cent, Deconstruct at 23) are on smaller labels, while the highest-volume Indian brands hold near full price — every Minimalist serum on the page is 5 per cent off.
The Korean shelf behaves differently again: COSRX's Snail 96 essence is Rs. 1,267 at 15 per cent off with 64,651 ratings, and SKIN1004's centella capsule serum is Rs. 949 at 5 per cent.

The shampoo shelf is where the real discounts are
Thirteen listings, Rs. 328 to Rs. 1,035, and the badges go up as the brand gets older. TRESemmé's keratin smooth shampoo is Rs. 822 against a Rs. 1,370 MRP — 40 per cent — and Himalaya's anti-hair fall is Rs. 599 against Rs. 999.
The newer Indian hair-care labels do the opposite. Bare Anatomy's two shampoos are 3 per cent off at Rs. 469, Love Beauty & Planet's peptide shampoo is 5 per cent at Rs. 356, and Plum's peptide shampoo is 16 per cent at Rs. 328 — the cheapest bottle on the shelf.
One listing is doing something else entirely: Matrix's shampoo-plus-conditioner combo at Rs. 702 is only 10 per cent off but carries 2,70,174 ratings, the second-largest count anywhere in this pull.

₹ The ratings cannot separate these products. The eight most-rated listings on the page carry between 1,32,000 and 5,40,000 ratings each — and every one of them scores 4.3 or 4.4. Across all 47 listings the range is 4.0 to 4.5. When everything is a 4.4, the score is not the deciding factor; the price and the ingredient list are.
What India is actually buying on this shelf
Rating counts are a rough proxy for volume, and on Nykaa they are enormous. These eight listings between them carry more than 1.5 million ratings, and six of the eight cost under Rs. 620.
It is a useful list precisely because the scores do not vary: what separates them is price. A sunscreen with 1,69,000 ratings is Rs. 387; another with 1,84,522 is Rs. 615. Both score 4.4.
| Listing | Ratings | Score | Price |
|---|
| TRESemmé Keratin Smooth anti-frizz shampoo | 5,40,571 | 4.4 | Rs. 822 |
| Matrix Mega Smooth shampoo + conditioner combo | 2,70,174 | 4.4 | Rs. 702 |
| The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic sunscreen SPF 50 | 1,84,522 | 4.4 | Rs. 615 |
| Dot & Key Vitamin C+E Super Bright sunscreen | 1,69,000 | 4.4 | Rs. 387 |
| Minimalist SPF 50 multi-vitamin sunscreen | 1,61,362 | 4.3 | Rs. 379 |
| Plum 10% Niacinamide brightening serum | 1,43,227 | 4.4 | Rs. 593 |
| Minimalist 10% Niacinamide serum | 1,34,211 | 4.4 | Rs. 569 |
| Dr. Sheth's Ceramide & Vitamin C sunscreen | 1,32,043 | 4.4 | Rs. 449 |
How this shelf was read, and what it does not tell you
All 47 listings were pulled from nykaa.com's own search results for “shampoo”, “face serum” and “sunscreen” on 2 September 2026, as served to a logged-out visitor in India. Prices, MRPs, discount percentages, ratings and rating counts are Nykaa's own fields, copied as displayed; the aisle groupings, medians and the observation about rating clustering are our descriptions of that data rather than claims about how anyone sets prices, and no wrongdoing by any company named is alleged. Nykaa runs cart-level offers, bank discounts, Nykaa Prive benefits and free-gift bundles that are applied at checkout, and pack sizes differ between listings, so a per-millilitre comparison would not track these rupee figures. Beauty prices move constantly. Nothing on this page assesses whether any product works, is safe for your skin, suits any skin type or condition, or lives up to any SPF, PA, percentage-active or in-vivo-testing claim printed in its listing title — those claims are the brand's, quoted, not verified by us, and nothing here is medical or dermatological advice. This is one visible slice of three paginated categories, not Nykaa's full catalogue.
The short version
On Nykaa the aisle sets the discount: shampoo runs a 20 per cent median with 35–40 per cent badges on TRESemmé, Himalaya, Dove and L'Oreal, while serums and sunscreens sit at 10–11 per cent and the biggest Indian skincare names hold at 5.
Sunscreen is a Rs. 330–500 category with four Dot & Key bottles at exactly Rs. 387; serums run from Rs. 195 to Rs. 3,591 for the same shelf. And the ratings will not choose for you — the eight most-rated products on the page, 1,32,000 to 5,40,000 ratings each, all score 4.3 or 4.4.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does sunscreen cost on Nykaa?
Across the 16 SPF listings Nykaa's own search returned on 2 September 2026, sunscreen ran from Rs. 330 (Foxtale SPF 50 Glow) to Rs. 1,710 (Eucerin Pigment Control fluid), with a median of Rs. 393. Twelve of the 16 were under Rs. 500, and four Dot & Key sunscreens were priced at exactly Rs. 387. Discounts on this shelf are thin: nothing was more than 25 per cent off, and several of the best-selling bottles were 5 to 13 per cent.
Are Nykaa's discounts on shampoo better than on skincare?
Yes, and by roughly double. The shampoo shelf carried a 20 per cent median discount against 10 per cent for face serums and 11 per cent for sunscreens, and the four deepest badges in the whole pull were shampoos: TRESemmé keratin smooth at 40 per cent (Rs. 822 from Rs. 1,370), Himalaya anti-hair fall at 40 per cent (Rs. 599), Dove Peptide Bond at 35 per cent and L'Oreal Paris Hyaluron Moisture at 35 per cent. Newer hair-care labels went the other way — Bare Anatomy's shampoos were 3 per cent off.
What is the cheapest face serum on Nykaa?
On 2 September 2026 it was the Plix 2% Alpha Arbutin pineapple serum at Rs. 195, 40 per cent off a Rs. 325 MRP, rated 4.1 from 15,469 ratings. A Plum 2% alpha arbutin and hyaluronic acid serum was Rs. 203 and Minimalist's beginner Vitamin C serum Rs. 284. At the other end of the same shelf, Eucerin's Anti-Pigment dual serum was Rs. 3,591.
Do Nykaa ratings help you choose a product?
Not much, on this shelf. The eight most-rated listings carried between 1,32,000 and 5,40,000 ratings each — and all eight scored either 4.3 or 4.4. Across all 47 listings read, scores ran from 4.0 to 4.5, with one 5.0 resting on just 78 ratings. When the whole category clusters in a two-tenths band, the rating separates almost nothing; price, pack size and the actives listed on the label do more of the work.
Which sunscreens and serums do most people buy on Nykaa?
By rating volume on 2 September 2026: The Derma Co 1% Hyaluronic sunscreen SPF 50 (Rs. 615, 1,84,522 ratings), Dot & Key Vitamin C+E Super Bright sunscreen (Rs. 387, 1,69,000), Minimalist SPF 50 multi-vitamin sunscreen (Rs. 379, 1,61,362), Plum 10% Niacinamide serum (Rs. 593, 1,43,227), Minimalist 10% Niacinamide serum (Rs. 569, 1,34,211) and Dr. Sheth's ceramide sunscreen (Rs. 449, 1,32,043). Rating counts are a proxy for volume, not a verdict on whether a product suits your skin.
