Mamaearth's terms do something most D2C pages avoid — they put a number on delivery: "Delivery usually takes 5-7 business days from the date of order placement." If it slips, you are emailed a reason and may "cancel the ordered Product or wait", and that is the whole remedy: "the Company shall not be liable to pay for any damage or loss either direct or indirect".
We read mamaearth.in/policies/terms-of-service first-party on 10 October 2026, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased. Below: the delivery clause and what it does not give you, the chat section that stores the transcript and tells you that you cannot have it, the resale restriction that covers free samples, the prices that move "without notice or liability" — and the one thing in this document that beats every other D2C terms page we read this month. Published terms only; nothing here is legal advice.

Five to seven business days, and no payout if it slips
Mamaearth's terms put a number on delivery, which many D2C pages avoid: "Delivery usually takes 5-7 business days from the date of order placement." The order details page carries the estimate for your specific order, and the terms then qualify it: "The estimated delivery times are indicative, hence there may be some unforeseeable delays, which are beyond our control."
What happens when it slips is stated clearly, and the first half is good: "In the event, the Company is unable to deliver the Product within the estimated delivery date due to any reason, you will be notified by an e-mail the reason for such delay. You will have the right either to cancel the ordered Product or wait for the Product to be delivered." An emailed reason and a choice between cancelling and waiting is more than most brands commit to.
The second half closes the ledger: "You agree that the Company shall not be liable to pay for any damage or loss either direct or indirect owing to such cancellation of the order or delay in delivery." So a late parcel gets you a cancellation right and an explanation, and nothing else — which is the ordinary position in Indian e-commerce and not unusual. The terms also list the two circumstances in which an order is cancelled outright: "(i) unavailability of the Product ordered; or (ii) at your instructions, in the event of failure to deliver the Product on the expected time of delivery by our delivery partners", with a tracking number and courier emailed on dispatch and orders possibly arriving "in multiple shipments".
The chat window keeps the transcript. You do not.
Mamaearth runs a chat facility and devotes a short section to it. Two of its three conditions are routine. The third is not:
"Communication through chat may be stored by the Company for future reference, and the user of such service will not have the right to access such information."
The transcript is kept, and you are told in advance that you cannot have it. Most people assume a support chat is a shared record they can point back to — this clause says the record exists on one side only. Storing support conversations is entirely ordinary and often necessary for training and dispute handling, and disclosing the retention upfront is better than staying silent about it. The practical consequence is narrow and worth knowing: if a chat agent tells you something you may need later — a replacement promise, a date, an exception — take your own screenshot while the window is open.
The other two conditions are the expected ones: "The Company may suspend the chat service at any time without notice" and it is "not responsible for any delay caused in attending to or replying to the queries via chat". For anything that needs a record, the document publishes two email routes instead — care@mamaearth.in for customer service and a named Grievance Officer, both covered further down this page.
The free sample is also not yours to sell
The products section carries a resale restriction, and it reaches further than the things you paid for: "The Products described on the Website, and any samples thereof we may provide to you, are for personal use only. You may not sell or resell any of the Products, or samples thereof, you receive from us unless agreed otherwise."
The sachet that arrived free in the box is covered by the same sentence as the shampoo you bought. Resale restrictions are standard across D2C beauty and exist for real reasons — channel control, counterfeit prevention and, with cosmetics, the fact that a brand cannot vouch for how a product was stored once it has left its own chain. Extending it expressly to samples is less common and worth noticing, particularly where samples are given away in volume.
The enforcement clause sits beside it: "We reserve the right, with or without notice, to cancel or reduce the quantity of any Products to be provided to you that we believe, in our sole discretion, may result in the violation of our T&C." And accounts can go: "We reserve the right to block any user and permanently disable user account if we believe in our sole discretion that action of such user has resulted in breach of fair usage policy or T&c." "Fair usage policy" is not defined anywhere in the document, which is the one gap worth flagging in an otherwise specific page. If you are stocking up during a festive offer, the related cancellation rules are in our reading of D2C order cancellation windows.

Prices move, descriptions are not warranted, and you carry the indemnity
Three clauses sit together and set the commercial temperature of the document.
Price. "You acknowledge that the price payable in connection with the Product or any service, may be subject to change, without notice or liability." The availability sentence alongside it is equally wide: Mamaearth "may change, suspend, or discontinue the availability of any of the Products at any time, without any notice or liability".
Descriptions. "While describing our Products on our Website, we endeavour to be as accurate as possible ... we do not warrant that the Product descriptions, colours, information or other content available on the Website are accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free. The Website may contain typographical errors or inaccuracies." That is a standard clause, and it is the reason the ingredient list on the pack governs rather than the page.
Indemnity. "You will release, indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Company, and any of its contractors, agents, employees, officers, directors, shareholders, affiliates and assigns from all liabilities, claims, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees ... relating to or arising out of ... (c) the Products or your use of the Products (including trial products)." The parenthesis is the page's own. Uncapped indemnities are the norm in Indian platform terms and the limitation section expressly concedes that "Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages so some of the above limitations may not apply to you" — a rare acknowledgement that a clause may not hold.
The best thing in this document, and who to write to
After eleven other Indian D2C terms pages read the same morning, one feature of Mamaearth's stands out: it names a person.
"Grievance officer: The name and contact details of the Grievance Officer to handle any complaints in relation to the sale of Products or use of this Website are provided below: Supratim Sarkar, Email: nodal@mamaearth.in, Time: Monday-Friday (From 9:00 Am to 6:00pm)." Above it sits a separate customer service desk: care@mamaearth.in, Monday-Friday (From 9:00 Am to 6:00pm). Two escalation levels, both with named hours.
Compare the pages we read alongside it. Snitch routes privacy enquiries to "the relevant Officer/Authority on Instagram". Plum publishes an email and a phone number but names nobody. Hammer's terms carry a single address and no officer at all. The Information Technology Act framework expects a named grievance officer, and Mamaearth is the D2C brand in this batch that publishes one with a name, an address and working hours. That is worth more to a customer with a real complaint than any clause criticised above.
The access rules are ordinary and clearly put: only persons who can "enter into legally binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872" may transact, and "Any minor who wishes to use or access the Website is required to conduct such transaction through their legal guardian or parents" — the correct formulation for India, and a contrast with the template wording about a "state or province of residence" we found at Hammer. Payment is unusually wide too: cards, net banking, wallets, UPI, QR, PayPal, reward points and cash on delivery.
How to use this page
Five practical points, none of them legal advice. One: plan for 5-7 business days, and if it slips you get an emailed reason and a choice to cancel or wait — but no compensation. Two: screenshot anything important a chat agent tells you; the terms say the transcript is stored and that you have no right to access it. Three: do not resell, including the free samples — the restriction covers both, and accounts can be blocked for breach of a "fair usage policy" the document does not define. Four: read the pack, not the page; descriptions, colours and content are expressly not warranted to be accurate or current. Five: escalate to a named person. Customer service is care@mamaearth.in; the Grievance Officer is Supratim Sarkar at nodal@mamaearth.in, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm — which is more than most of this brand's peers publish. Everything above is Mamaearth's published text as it stood on 10 October 2026. This page describes published terms and expresses no view on whether any clause is valid or enforceable; nothing here is legal, medical or dermatological advice.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does Mamaearth take to deliver, and what if it is late?
The terms give a figure: "Delivery usually takes 5-7 business days from the date of order placement", with the estimate for your specific order shown on the order details page. Those times are "indicative". If Mamaearth cannot deliver within the estimate, "you will be notified by an e-mail the reason for such delay" and you "will have the right either to cancel the ordered Product or wait". There is no compensation: "the Company shall not be liable to pay for any damage or loss either direct or indirect owing to such cancellation of the order or delay in delivery." Orders may arrive "in multiple shipments", with a tracking number and courier emailed on dispatch.
Can you get a copy of your Mamaearth chat transcript?
Not under the terms. "Communication through chat may be stored by the Company for future reference, and the user of such service will not have the right to access such information." The same section adds that Mamaearth "may suspend the chat service at any time without notice" and is "not responsible for any delay caused in attending to or replying to the queries via chat". Storing support conversations is ordinary practice and disclosing it is better than silence; the practical consequence is simply that the record is one-sided. If an agent commits to something in chat, screenshot it before you close the window, or move the conversation to care@mamaearth.in where you keep a copy.
Can you resell Mamaearth products or the free samples?
No, under the terms as published. "The Products described on the Website, and any samples thereof we may provide to you, are for personal use only. You may not sell or resell any of the Products, or samples thereof, you receive from us unless agreed otherwise." The restriction expressly covers free samples as well as purchased goods. Mamaearth also reserves the right "to cancel or reduce the quantity of any Products" where it believes an order may breach the terms, and to "block any user and permanently disable user account" for breach of its "fair usage policy or T&c" — a term the document does not define. Resale restrictions are standard in D2C beauty, where storage and authenticity outside the brand's own chain cannot be verified.
Who do you complain to at Mamaearth?
There are two published routes and the second names a person, which is unusual for a D2C brand. Customer Service Desk: care@mamaearth.in, Monday-Friday (From 9:00 Am to 6:00pm). And: "Grievance officer: ... Supratim Sarkar, Email: nodal@mamaearth.in, Time: Monday-Friday (From 9:00 Am to 6:00pm)", described as handling "any complaints in relation to the sale of Products or use of this Website". The Information Technology Act framework expects a named grievance officer, and among the D2C terms pages read on the same morning — including Plum, Snitch, Neemans, Perfora and Hammer — Mamaearth's was the one that published a name, an address and working hours.
Can Mamaearth change a price after you have seen it?
Yes, under the terms. "You acknowledge that the price payable in connection with the Product or any service, may be subject to change, without notice or liability." Availability moves the same way: Mamaearth "may change, suspend, or discontinue the availability of any of the Products at any time, without any notice or liability". Separately, the page does not warrant that "Product descriptions, colours, information or other content available on the Website are accurate, complete, reliable, current, or error-free" and notes the site "may contain typographical errors or inaccuracies". These are standard e-commerce clauses and no wrongdoing is alleged; the practical reading is that the price and the description on screen are both provisional, and the pack itself governs what is in the bottle.

Zoutons may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page. Every quoted sentence, clause and detail here was read on 10 October 2026 from mamaearth.in/policies/terms-of-service, logged out, in India, with nothing purchased, no account created, no order placed, no chat session opened and customer service not contacted; quotations are reproduced verbatim from Mamaearth's own page, including its own spelling, grammar, capitalisation, spacing and punctuation, and any apparent error inside a quotation is the source page's rather than ours and is reproduced rather than corrected. The page reserves the right to amend the terms at any time, so the document described here may already differ from the one that applies to you; the terms shown on mamaearth.in prevail over anything on this page, and the delivery, return and refund rules that apply to a specific order are those published when that order is placed. This page describes published terms and conditions. It does not assess, and expresses no view on, whether any clause quoted above is valid, binding, fair or enforceable, whether a no-liability-for-delay clause, a chat-access restriction, a resale restriction, an account-blocking clause or an indemnity would be upheld, or whether the document complies with the Consumer Protection Act, the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, the Indian Contract Act, the Information Technology Act, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act or any rules made under them, all of which are matters for a court, a consumer forum, a regulator or the Data Protection Board and not for a shopping page; nothing on this page is legal, contractual, regulatory, medical or dermatological advice or a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Reporting that published terms contain a delivery estimate, a delay clause, a chat-retention clause, a resale restriction, a price-change clause, an availability clause, a warranty disclaimer, an indemnity or a grievance mechanism is a description of published text; publishing an indicative delivery window, declining to pay compensation for a delayed delivery, retaining support chat records, restricting resale of products and samples, reserving the right to change prices and availability, disclaiming the accuracy of website content and taking an indemnity are ordinary and lawful commercial practices, and no statement here alleges an unfair trade practice, an unfair contract term, a dark pattern, misleading advertising, deficiency in service, denial of any consumer right or any breach of law, rule or guideline by Honasa Consumer Limited, by Mamaearth or by any associated entity, officer or employee, and no wrongdoing is alleged or implied; nor does anything here allege or imply anything about the named Grievance Officer, who is identified only because the company publishes the name in discharge of a statutory requirement. In particular, nothing on this page asserts or implies that Mamaearth has delivered late, has refused any customer a chat record they were entitled to, has blocked any account improperly, has changed any price unfairly or has failed to answer any grievance; the clauses described are drafting, and the page's stated protections — the published 5-7 business day estimate, the emailed reason for a delay, the cancel-or-wait right, the wide range of payment methods, the customer service desk and the named Grievance Officer with working hours — are recorded above. No product is assessed, tested, compared or recommended on this page, no cosmetic, dermatological or efficacy claim is made or endorsed, and no price, discount or offer is stated here; ingredient lists, directions and warnings printed on the products themselves prevail over anything summarised here, and anyone with a skin condition, allergy or other medical concern should consult a qualified professional before changing what they use. Product photographs are the brand's own listing images, may be styled or retouched and may carry the brand's own marketing wording, which is reproduced as published and neither endorsed nor assessed here; the products shown illustrate the kind of order these terms govern, are not offers, and their prices are not stated. Prices and policies change without notice; the terms and prices shown at your own checkout prevail over anything here.
