A cruise is one of the dearest things a travel site sells and one of the least flexible, which makes the contract worth reading before the deposit rather than after it. We read the Cruise section of MakeMyTrip's User Agreement on 14 October 2026.

The clause that decides most of it is blunt. "...booking is confirmed, no amendments (e.g., date changes, itinerary modifications) will be allowed. In case of any changes, the User must cancel the existing booking and rebook a new Cruise." There is no amendment fee, because there is no amendment — a date change is a cancellation on the cruise line's terms plus a fresh purchase at "pricing at the time of" rebooking.

Below: every booking and refund rule in MakeMyTrip's own words, the eight things it says it is "not be liable or responsible for" including "The health, safety and well-being of the User", the sentence capping its liability at the booking amount, and the eligibility criteria that decide who boards. Everything quoted verbatim. This is a description of a published document, not legal, travel or medical advice.

📅 Update log:
14 October 2026 — First publication. The Cruise section of MakeMyTrip's User Agreement read in full from makemytrip.com/legal/user_agreement.html, logged out, in India, nothing booked and no account opened. Recorded this read: the no-amendment clause and the cancel-and-rebook route; the bar on name and passport changes; the deferral of cancellation and refund terms to the Cruise Provider; the non-refundable taxes, service charge and convenience fees; the no-show discretion clause; the eight exclusions from liability and the booking-amount cap; the intermediary clause and the statement that cruise descriptions and photographs originate from the providers; the visa disclaimer; the eligibility criteria including age, weight and medical conditions; and the Indian Rupees and part-payment clauses. No price, fare, deposit or coupon code is asserted anywhere on this page. Content verified 14 October 2026.

A confirmed cruise booking cannot be amended

A cruise is among the most expensive things sold on a travel site and among the least flexible, so the section of the contract that governs it is worth reading before the deposit rather than after. We read the Cruise section of MakeMyTrip's User Agreement on 14 October 2026.

The clause that matters most is short. "...booking is confirmed, no amendments (e.g., date changes, itinerary modifications) will be allowed. In case of any changes, the User must cancel the existing booking and rebook a new Cruise." And the rebooking is at the day's price: "Any new booking will be subject to availability and pricing at the time of".

There is no amendment fee here, because there is no amendment. Moving a sailing date is a cancellation — governed by the cruise line's own refund policy, not MakeMyTrip's — followed by a fresh purchase at whatever the cabin costs that day. A separate clause closes the one exception people usually ask about: "Name changes and modifications to passport details are not permitted".

Verbatim, from the Cruise section of MakeMyTrip's User Agreement, read 14 October 2026: "...booking is confirmed, no amendments (e.g., date changes, itinerary modifications) will be allowed. In case of any changes, the User must cancel the existing booking and rebook a new Cruise. Any new booking will be subject to availability and pricing at the time of..."

Every booking rule, in the agreement's own words

What you want to doThe agreement's wordingWhat it means in practice
Changing a date"no amendments (e.g., date changes, itinerary modifications) will be allowed"Cancel and rebook at the day's price
Changing the itinerary"no amendments (e.g., date changes, itinerary modifications) will be allowed"Same route: cancel and rebook
Correcting a name"Name changes and modifications to passport details are not permitted"No amendment route is stated at all
Paying"Part payment or full payment may be required at the time of the booking"; "All the payments must be made in Indian Rupees"Which applies depends on the cruise line
Cancelling"subject to cancellation and refund policies of the Cruise Provider which may vary from time to time"The cruise line's policy governs, not MMT's
Getting a refund"Refunds, when applicable, will be processed using the original payment method"Route is fixed; amount is the provider's call
Fees on a cancellation"taxes or service charge, convenience fees etc. wherever applicable which are not refundable upon cancellation or no..."Some of what you paid does not come back
Missing the sailing"Refunds for no-show shall be at the sole discretion and as per the applicable policy of the Cruise..."No entitlement is stated
If the cruise line cancels"MMT will inform you and facilitate a refund or rescheduling, to the extent approved by the Cruise Provider and based on the amount received by MMT from the Cruise Provider"MMT passes on what it receives

Two of those rows deserve to be read together. Cancellation terms are the cruise line's — "subject to cancellation and refund policies of the Cruise Provider which may vary from time to time" — so the number that decides what a cancelled cruise costs you is not in this document at all and may change between the day you book and the day you cancel.

And not everything you paid is in scope for a refund: "taxes or service charge, convenience fees etc. wherever applicable which are not refundable upon cancellation or no...". The sentence is clipped in the text we read and we have not reconstructed it; the operative words are the ones quoted.

Credit where it is due. The agreement is unusually direct about the no-amendment rule. A great many travel terms bury that behind a fee schedule and a "subject to availability"; this one states plainly that the only route is cancel and rebook, which is at least something a traveller can plan around.

What MakeMyTrip says it is not liable for

The Cruise section sets the frame before it sets the limits: "MMT's role is limited to facilitating the procurement of a Cruise by the User from the Cruise Provider... The transaction or the service fulfilment relation is always between the User and the Cruise Provider."

On the content a traveller actually chooses from, it adds: "The descriptions, photographs, and other content for the respective Cruise originate from the respective Cruise Providers. We, therefore, have no direct influence on such content."

What is excludedThe agreement's wordingNote
Loss, injury, accident, death"Any damage or loss, injury, accident, death, breakdown, irregularity, delay/change in schedule, cancellation without cause, inaccurate information, inconvenience, deficiency of service/product"One clause, covering the whole range
Your health and safety on board"The health, safety and well-being of the User in the course of availing the Cruise Service or thereafter"Stated as its own separate item
Anything bought directly"Any incidental or ancillary services which is directly purchased"Reproduced as printed, including its grammar
Wrong information from the cruise line"Any incorrect information provided by the Cruise Provider"Even where that information appears on MMT's own site
Itineraries, cabins, onboard services"MMT is not responsible for the services provided by the Cruise Provider, including but not limited to Cruise itineraries, accommodations, and onboard services"The substance of what a cruise is
Events outside its control"MMT shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations due to events beyond its reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, civil unrest, or governmental actions"A standard force majeure clause
Your visa"MMT does not take any responsibility or ownership for the VISA application or approval process"Capitalisation is the agreement's own
Airport or port transfers"...shall not provide pick up and drop facility for any Cruise Service unless otherwise explicitly mentioned in the booking"Not included unless the booking says so
Verbatim, from the same section: "The maximum liability of MMT under any scenario will be solely limited to refund of booking amount which was received by MMT for the reservation of the Cruise Service subject to receipt of the same."

The cap is the booking amount, not the loss. On a cruise that is a meaningful distinction, because the costs that tend to follow a disrupted sailing — flights to the port, a hotel, time booked off work — are not the booking amount and are not mentioned.

Statutory consumer rights apply to a transaction whatever a contract says, and nothing on this page limits them, interprets them or tells any reader what theirs are. Whether a limitation clause has effect in a particular case is a question for a court or a regulator, and this page expressly does not answer it.

Boarding: the eligibility criteria are the cruise line's

The agreement puts every boarding condition on the traveller and every decision with the cruise line. "The User should ensure that he qualifies all the eligibility criteria for availing the Cruise Service including but not limited to age limit, weight limit, health and medical conditions etc."

If the criteria are not met, "The Cruise Provider reserves the right to refuse boarding or Cruise Services to the User who do not meet the specified requirements", and where a user "is found unfit or illegible for boarding" — the agreement's own spelling — the provider acts at its discretion.

The agreement does say when you should learn the rules: requirements including "specific health and safety protocols, dress codes, onboard conduct, special dietary requests, or documentation requirements, will be communicated to the User at the time of making the booking". The practical reading is that the booking confirmation is the document to check, because after it no amendment is possible.

Nothing here is medical, travel or legal advice. We have not assessed any cruise line's eligibility criteria, have not booked or boarded anything, and name no provider's rules.

Before you book a cruise on MakeMyTrip

Four things follow from the document's own wording. Fix the date before you confirm, because there is no amendment route afterwards and a change is a cancellation at the cruise line's terms plus a rebooking at the day's price.

Check the name and passport details twice — the agreement says changes to either "are not permitted" and offers no correction process. Read the cruise line's cancellation policy, not this one, since the agreement defers to it entirely and warns it "may vary from time to time".

And treat visas, documents and eligibility as yours to confirm: MMT states it takes no responsibility for the visa process, and the cruise line decides who boards.

This page describes a published contract. It is not legal, travel or medical advice, and it does not tell you what your rights are in any particular case. Read the version on makemytrip.com that applies to your own booking, and take your own advice, before acting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the date of a cruise booked on MakeMyTrip?
The agreement says a confirmed cruise booking cannot be amended. "...booking is confirmed, no amendments (e.g., date changes, itinerary modifications) will be allowed. In case of any changes, the User must cancel the existing booking and rebook a new Cruise." It adds that "Any new booking will be subject to availability and pricing at the time of" rebooking — so a date change means paying whatever the cruise costs on the day you rebook, and the cancellation is governed by "cancellation and refund policies of the Cruise Provider which may vary from time to time". Separately, "Name changes and modifications to passport details are not permitted". Quoted verbatim from the version read 14 October 2026; this is a description of a contract clause, not advice about your own booking.
Who is responsible if something goes wrong on a cruise booked through MakeMyTrip?
The agreement places the relationship with the cruise line, not with MakeMyTrip. "MMT's role is limited to facilitating the procurement of a Cruise by the User from the Cruise Provider. As such, MMT is not responsible for the services provided by the Cruise Provider, including but not limited to Cruise itineraries, accommodations, and onboard services. The transaction or the service fulfilment relation is always between the User and the Cruise Provider." It then lists what MMT "shall not be liable or responsible for", including "Any damage or loss, injury, accident, death, breakdown, irregularity, delay/change in schedule, cancellation without cause, inaccurate information, inconvenience, deficiency of service/product" and "The health, safety and well-being of the User in the course of availing the Cruise Service or thereafter". Whether such a clause has legal effect in any particular case is a matter for a court, and nothing here says it does or does not.
How much can MakeMyTrip be liable for on a cruise booking?
The agreement states a ceiling in one sentence. "The maximum liability of MMT under any scenario will be solely limited to refund of booking amount which was received by MMT for the reservation of the Cruise Service subject to receipt of the same." Two things are worth reading carefully there: the cap is the booking amount rather than any loss suffered, and it is qualified by "subject to receipt of the same". Statutory consumer rights apply to a transaction regardless of what a contract says, and nothing on this page limits them or tells you what yours are.
What documents do I need for a cruise booked on MakeMyTrip?
The agreement requires the booking voucher plus identity documents, and puts visas entirely on the traveller. You must "be in possession of valid documents viz. identity proof, address proof, passport in case of Cruise booked outside India or any other document as specified by the Cruise Provider". On visas: "It is the User's responsibility to ensure that you have valid travel documents, such as a passport or visa (if applicable)" and "MMT does not take any responsibility or ownership for the VISA application or approval process." The cruise line may also require "waiver/consent form, safety procedure form, medical declaration or other document" as a pre-condition to boarding. Capitalisation and wording are the agreement's own.
Can a cruise line refuse to let me board?
The agreement says it can, and names the grounds broadly. "The Cruise Provider reserves the right to refuse boarding or Cruise Services to the User who do not meet the specified requirements." On eligibility it says "The User should ensure that he qualifies all the eligibility criteria for availing the Cruise Service including but not limited to age limit, weight limit, health and medical conditions etc.", and that if a user "is found unfit or illegible for boarding" — the agreement's own spelling — the provider may act. Requirements such as "specific health and safety protocols, dress codes, onboard conduct, special dietary requests, or documentation requirements, will be communicated to the User at the time of making the booking". Nothing on this page is medical or travel advice, and we have not assessed any provider's criteria.

Every quotation on this page is MakeMyTrip's own published text, read on 14 October 2026 from makemytrip.com/legal/user_agreement.html, logged out, in India, with nothing booked, no cruise or any other service purchased, no booking cancelled or amended, no refund claimed, no account opened and MakeMyTrip not contacted. Quotations are reproduced verbatim, including the source's own capitalisation, spelling and punctuation — including its spellings "illegible" and "VISA" and its own grammar — and any emphasis is ours. The document was read as rendered text, which flattens its numbering and indentation and in several places clips the opening words of a clause; where that occurred the clause is quoted only from the first word legible in full and is marked with an ellipsis, no sentence has been reconstructed, completed or paraphrased as a quotation, and the surrounding text should be read on MakeMyTrip's own page. This page describes what one section of one published document says. It is a summary for general information, it is not legal, travel, medical, immigration, insurance or financial advice, and it must not be relied on as a statement of your contractual or statutory rights. Nothing on this page assesses whether any clause described is valid, binding, fair or enforceable, and nothing here tells any reader what their own legal status is. In particular, reporting that a contract bars amendments to a confirmed booking, bars name or passport changes, excludes liability for injury, death, health or safety, caps liability at the booking amount, or makes certain fees non-refundable, is a description of the document's own wording and is expressly not a statement that any clause is unfair, one-sided, an unfair contract term, a dark pattern, non-compliant, void or of no effect. Whether a limitation or exclusion of liability has legal effect is a matter for a court or a regulator. Statutory consumer rights apply to a transaction regardless of what any contract document says, and nothing on this page limits them or purports to. Nothing on this page alleges or implies any wrongdoing, unfair contract term, misleading advertisement, service deficiency, non-compliance or breach of law by MakeMyTrip (India) Limited, any MakeMyTrip affiliate, or by any cruise line, cruise operator, travel provider or other third party, whether named or unnamed. A business is generally free to set the terms on which it sells, and an intermediary stating plainly that the service relationship is between the traveller and the provider, and publishing its cruise rules in the contract rather than leaving them to be discovered, is an ordinary and proper commercial act. The Cruise section incorporates and defers to the terms of individual cruise providers, which are separate documents not reproduced here and which govern cancellation charges, refund amounts, eligibility, boarding and onboard conduct; those terms differ between operators, ships, fares and sailings and may override or qualify what is described here for any particular booking. The wider User Agreement contains further sections covering flights, hotels, holidays and other products that are not described on this page. We have not booked, paid for, boarded, cancelled or sought a refund on any cruise, have not been refused boarding, and we make no representation about how MakeMyTrip or any cruise provider would act in any particular case. Nothing on this page is a statement about any cruise line's safety record, medical facilities, accessibility, eligibility criteria or suitability for any person, and anyone with a health, mobility, pregnancy, age or weight consideration should take their own medical and operator advice rather than rely on anything here. No price, fare, deposit, cancellation charge, convenience fee or coupon code is asserted anywhere on this page. The banner photograph is a cruise line's own published image used to illustrate the category; the operator shown is not named in the agreement, is not a party to anything described here, and its appearance implies no connection with MakeMyTrip, no endorsement and no statement about that operator. Legal agreements and their contents change without notice and may already differ from what is described here; the version published on makemytrip.com at the time you read it prevails over anything on this page, and you should read the version that applies to your own booking, and take your own advice, before acting.
