First: read the litres before the rupees. Capacities on this shelf run from two litres to five, and a Rs. 949 five-litre pan is cheaper per litre than a Rs. 680 three-litre one. Second: divide. The rates here run from Rs. 189.80 to Rs. 1,327.33 a litre, a 7.0x spread, and that order looks nothing like the order of the price tags. Third: do not read the badge as a saving. Hawkins states MRPs 1.05 to 1.13 times its prices and prints badges of 3 to 11 per cent; Classic Essentials states 2.33 times and prints 57 per cent; the two land at Rs. 529.67 and Rs. 357.33 a litre respectively, the opposite way round to what the badges suggest. Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, rating average and rating count on this page was read on 22 September 2026 from flipkart.com's own search results for pressure cookers, logged out, in India. 58 listings returned both a selling price and a stated MRP; nothing was bought and no seller was contacted.
Capacity read from the listing title
Every seated listing prints its capacity in litres in its own title, and those capacities run from 2 L to 5 L. Because a Rs. 680 cooker and a Rs. 949 cooker can hold three litres and five, the sticker prices are not comparable, so every card states the price per litre - our own arithmetic over the price and the capacity the listing states, not a measured volume.
Combo packs left out
Ten of the 58 listings are combination packs quoting two or three capacities in one title - '2 L, 3 L' or '2 L, 3 L, 5 L'. A per-litre figure for those would require assuming how the price splits across the pans, so we left them out rather than estimate. The 48 single-capacity listings were the working set and 22 are seated.
Shared rating counts named on the card
Flipkart pools feedback across a product family, so one count appears under several capacities: 192,625 under four Greenchef listings in this pull, 87,537 under three Greenchef Pearl listings, 286,337 under two Pigeon listings, 69,047 under two Hawkins Miss Mary listings and 101,589 under two BAJAJ listings. The badge read as arithmetic over two numbers
A discount percentage is the gap between a price and an MRP the seller states. On this shelf Hawkins' eleven listings state MRPs 1.05 to 1.13 times their prices while others state up to 2.33 times, so the badges run from 3 to 57 per cent without the rates following. We have not verified that any cooker sold at its stated MRP, and stating a high MRP is legal and commonplace in Indian retail.

In our 22 September 2026 read the cheapest cooker and the cheapest litres are two different listings. The lowest price is the Pigeon Special 3 L inner-lid at Rs. 680 (Rs. 226.67 a litre, 4.1 from 73,263 ratings). The cheapest per litre is the Prestlee DELUXE 5 L at Rs. 949, which works out at Rs. 189.80 a litre - the only listing in the read under Rs. 200 a litre, though its 3.9 average is the lowest on the page.
Why is Hawkins more expensive than Pigeon if its discount is smaller?
Because the discount and the price are independent of each other. In this read Hawkins' eleven single-capacity listings carry badges of 3 to 11 per cent against stated MRPs only 1.05 to 1.13 times their selling prices, while Pigeon's sixteen carry badges of 20 to 51 per cent against MRPs up to 1.92 times. The result is that Hawkins occupies the dear end of the shelf at Rs. 288.80 to Rs. 690.00 a litre and Pigeon the cheap end from Rs. 226.67. A badge describes the gap between two numbers the seller chose; it says nothing about what a litre costs.
What size pressure cooker should I buy?
On price alone the bigger pan always wins: in this read the Greenchef Pearl costs Rs. 265.60 a litre at 5 L, Rs. 350.67 at 3 L and Rs. 459.50 at 2 L - the two-litre is 73 per cent dearer per litre than the five, inside one product range. That is ordinary for cookware. Capacity should still follow your kitchen rather than the arithmetic: a 2-3 L pan suits daily dal and rice for one or two people, and a 5 L pan is the common household size. Just know what the smaller pan costs you per litre before you choose it.
Are Flipkart pressure cooker discounts real?
A badge is arithmetic over a selling price and an MRP the seller states, and this shelf shows how far that can stretch. Classic Essentials prints 57 per cent off a stated Rs. 2,500 - an MRP 2.33 times its price - while Hawkins prints 5 per cent off Rs. 1,675, an MRP 1.05 times. One brand does both: Greenchef's Coral 3 L shows 13 per cent (1.14x) and its Classic 3 L shows 56 per cent (2.27x).
