Four rules for buying a mattress on this shelf
First: divide before you compare. Every listing publishes its length and width, and the rate is the only way a Single and a King can be read against each other - the median here is Rs. 283 a square foot. Second: check what the cheap end is made of. Everything under about Rs. 60 a square foot in this read is cotton filling, sold as a gadda in several cases, and it sits in the same search results as Rs. 9,000 foam beds with nothing but the price to tell them apart. Third: read the size field, not just the title. Two listings here state dimensions that are impossible - a Double filed as 6 inch by 4 inch - and because that field drives Flipkart's size filters, those beds are invisible to anyone filtering properly. Fourth: treat the badge as decoration at this end of retail. One seller here badges all 22 of its listings at exactly 56% and another shows only 25% and 26% across 15; the cotton band averages 70% off and the foam band 41%, which means the biggest percentages are attached to the cheapest material rather than the best buy.

Nothing was bought.
The rate is the selling price divided by the listing's own stated area
Every 'per square foot' figure here divides the live selling price by the length and width the listing itself publishes in its structured size field, converted from inches. We have not measured any mattress. Where a listing's stated size is impossible - two of the 242 - it is excluded from every median, range and comparison on this page and seated only to show what it says.
Medians describe the 240 listings with usable dimensions
The Rs. 283 median rate, the Rs. 39 to Rs. 1,526 range, the Rs. 6,546 median price, the 43% median badge, the 18 listings at 70% or more and the 45 at 25% or less all describe the 240 listings that carry a usable size field, on 29 September 2026. The cotton and foam medians - Rs. 50 and Rs. 287 a square foot - split those 240 into 19 cotton-or-gadda listings and 221 others by their own titles.
Repeated badges and shared rating counts are named on the card

How much should a mattress cost on Flipkart?
Priced by area, the shelf we read on 29 September 2026 had a median of Rs. 283 a square foot, with a full range of Rs. 39 to Rs. 1,526. In rupees that means a Single of about 15.6 square feet lands near Rs. 4,400 at the median and a Queen of 32.5 square feet near Rs. 9,200. Below about Rs. 60 a square foot you are buying cotton filling; between Rs. 150 and Rs. 300 you are in ordinary foam; above Rs. 500 you are in latex, pocket spring and hybrid constructions. The median ticket price across the 240 usable listings was Rs. 6,546.
Why are some Flipkart mattresses so much cheaper than others?
Mostly because they are a different product. The 19 cotton and gadda listings in this read sit at a median Rs. 50 a square foot; the 221 foam, latex and spring listings sit at Rs. 287 - roughly six times more. Several of the cheap listings describe themselves as floor gaddas rather than bed mattresses. Size is the other half of the answer: the cheapest listing here, at Rs. 740, is not the cheapest per square foot, because it is also one of the smallest beds on the shelf.
Why do cheap mattresses on Flipkart show bigger discounts?
Because the stated MRP behind them is larger relative to the price. In this read the cotton band showed a median badge of 70% against 41% for the foam and spring listings, and the single largest badge on the shelf - 88% - sat on a Rs. 934 cotton mattress. Meanwhile 45 of the 240 listings showed 25% or less, and those were disproportionately the ones with large rating counts. A high stated MRP is legal and commonplace in Indian retail and we allege no wrongdoing; we simply would not read the percentage as a guide to value here.
Why do some Flipkart mattress listings show the wrong size?
Two of the 242 listings we read state a size that is physically impossible: a mattress titled "5 inch Double" whose structured size field reads 6 inch x 4 inch, which is almost certainly 6ft x 4ft entered in the wrong unit, and a folding Single filed as 14 inch x 9 inch, most likely its folded dimensions. This matters beyond arithmetic because that field drives Flipkart's own size filters, so those beds will not appear for a shopper filtering by size. We excluded both from every figure on this page and treat them as data-entry faults, not as anything worse.
Which Flipkart mattress has the most reviews?
A Wakefit ShapeSense memory foam Single, with 158,152 ratings - but the identical count appears on a second listing of the same mattress priced Rs. 128 cheaper, at Rs. 7,688 against Rs. 7,816, because Flipkart pools reviews across linked listings. The largest count we found that was not shared with another listing was 42,775 at 4.4 stars, on a Rs. 7,514 Wakefit Dual Comfort Queen priced at Rs. 250 a square foot - just under the shelf median, with a 30% badge.
