Twenty-four LED bulbs read on 21 September. The number of bulbs in the box is never in the title - and once you divide by it, EVEREADY's twelve-pack costs sixty-three per cent more per bulb than its ten-pack.
We read Flipkart's LED bulb listings on 21 September 2026 and seated 24 of the 156 lighting listings that returned a price, an MRP and a rating count. Every one of these bulbs is titled the same way - brand, wattage, B22, LED Bulb - and not one of them puts the number of bulbs in the box in its title. That number is in the grey line underneath. Once you divide by it, a Rs. 110 listing turns out to be dearer per bulb than a Rs. 372 one, and EVEREADY's pack of twelve costs sixty-three per cent more per bulb than its pack of ten.
Every price below was pulled from Flipkart on September 21, 2026 and checked against the MRP on the listing. Stack them with the live codes on our Flipkart coupons page, which the deals desk re-verifies daily.
The cheapest bulbs in the read are all multipacks, and the number of bulbs in the box appears only in the grey subtitle. Six Syska listings share one title and one rating count of 171,098.
Rs. 247 for ten 9 W bulbs - Rs. 24.70 each, the cheapest bulb in this read, behind a sample of sixteen.
Why it earned its spot The floor of the shelf, with almost no evidence behind it.
Rs. 372 for ten 9 W round bulbs - Rs. 37.20 each, against a stated MRP of Rs. 1,900 for the pack.
Why it earned its spot The cheapest bulb here from a brand with a real service network.
Rs. 400 for ten 9 W bulbs - Rs. 40.00 each - and a near-identical listing sits beside it at Rs. 402.
Why it earned its spot Forty rupees a bulb with the largest independent sample in the read.
Rs. 242 for six 9 W bulbs - Rs. 40.33 each, and the first rung of a ladder where only the subtitle changes.
Why it earned its spot The cheapest rung of the six-listing Syska ladder.
Rs. 167 for four 9 W bulbs - Rs. 41.75 each, and a bigger pack sits above it at a higher rate.
Why it earned its spot Cheaper per bulb than the five-pack directly above it.
Syska's pack of five is dearer per bulb than its pack of four, the lowest sticker price on the shelf is the worst value in its own family, and Orient charges forty per cent more than Syska for the same wattage and pack size.
Rs. 226 for five 9 W bulbs - Rs. 45.20 each, dearer per bulb than the same brand's four-pack.
Why it earned its spot The clearest small case of a bigger pack costing more per unit.
Rs. 141 for three 9 W bulbs - Rs. 47.00 each, on the same pooled count of 171,098 ratings.
Why it earned its spot The cheapest entry ticket into the Syska family, at the worst-but-one rate.
Rs. 502 for ten 10 W bulbs - Rs. 50.20 each - and the same brand's pack of 12 costs Rs. 82.00 a bulb.
Why it earned its spot Half of the sharpest pack-size comparison in the read.
Rs. 110 for two 9 W bulbs - the lowest headline price in the read, and Rs. 55.00 a bulb.
Why it earned its spot The cheapest thing on the shelf and the dearest Syska nine-watt bulb.
Rs. 233 for four 9 W bulbs - Rs. 58.25 each, forty per cent dearer per bulb than Syska's four-pack.
Why it earned its spot The like-for-like brand comparison: same wattage, same pack size.
EVEREADY's pack of twelve costs sixty-three per cent more per bulb than its pack of ten. Then the badges climb to 86 and 88 per cent, and two listings filed as LED bulbs turn out not to be bulbs.
Rs. 764 for ten 9 W bulbs - Rs. 76.40 each, at twice the per-bulb price of the EVEREADY ten-pack.
Why it earned its spot A bathroom-fittings brand charging bathroom-fittings prices for light.
Rs. 155 for two 12 W bulbs - Rs. 77.50 each, and the same 15,461 ratings as Orient's 40 W single.
Why it earned its spot Cheap sticker, expensive bulb, and a rating count borrowed from elsewhere.
Rs. 984 for twelve 10 W bulbs - Rs. 82.00 each, against Rs. 50.20 a bulb in the same brand's pack of ten.
Why it earned its spot The finding this page is built on: two more bulbs, sixty-three per cent more per bulb.
Rs. 222 for two 15 W bulbs - Rs. 111.00 each, and a count of 7,883 that is not the family's 171,098.
Why it earned its spot Where the ladder stops being about pack size and starts being about watts.
Rs. 242 for two 28 W foldable blade lamps - filed under LED bulb, at the largest badge in the read.
Why it earned its spot The biggest discount claim on the shelf, on a product that is not a bulb.
Rs. 272 for two 25 W bulbs - Rs. 136.00 each, at 86 per cent off a stated Rs. 1,899.
Why it earned its spot High wattage, high badge, unfamiliar name - the pattern in one card.
Past the multipacks the arithmetic changes to rupees per stated watt - and two thirty-watt bulbs from two established Indian brands turn out to be Rs. 239 and Rs. 619.
Rs. 159 for one 14 W bulb, at the smallest discount claim of any Jaquar listing here.
Why it earned its spot An honest price list on a single bulb, for people who need exactly one.
Rs. 178 for a 3 W rotating multicolour bulb - filed as an LED bulb, sold with no ratings at all.
Why it earned its spot What an 82 per cent badge looks like with nothing behind it.
Rs. 180 for a 25 W foldable blade lamp - two rupees more than the three-watt party bulb, from the same seller.
Why it earned its spot Same seller, two rupees apart, and nothing to tell them apart on the shelf.
Rs. 239 for a single 30 W bulb - the best rupees-per-watt figure among the branded high-wattage singles.
Why it earned its spot Where to go when nine watts is not enough light.
Rs. 333 for a single 40 W bulb - Rs. 8.32 a stated watt, on the same 15,461 ratings as Orient's 12 W pair.
Why it earned its spot The brightest sensible single on the page, at a believable MRP.
Rs. 346 for a single 40 W bulb with surge-protection claims, at Rs. 8.65 a stated watt.
Why it earned its spot Thirteen rupees more than the Orient, with a bigger sample behind it.
Rs. 1,156 for two 60 W bulbs - Rs. 578.00 each, the brightest and dearest lamps in this read.
Why it earned its spot The top of the shelf, where the pack subtitle matters most in rupees.
Rs. 619 for a single 30 W bulb at 5 per cent off Rs. 650 - the only listing here that barely discounts at all.
Why it earned its spot The honest MRP on the page, attached to the worst value on it.

Every selling price, stated MRP, discount badge, rating average and rating count on this page was read on 21 September 2026 from flipkart.com's own search results for led bulb, tube light, ceiling light and led batten, logged out, in India. 156 listings returned a price, an MRP and a rating count; the 39 standard LED bulb listings stating a wattage were the working set and 24 are seated.
Not one of these listings puts the number of bulbs in its title - it sits in the grey line underneath, as 'White, Pack of 6'. Because the headline price is therefore not comparable between two listings, every card on this page states the pack size and the price per bulb, which is our own arithmetic over the price and the pack count the listing states.
Comparing a 9 W bulb with a 40 W one on price alone is meaningless, so in the single-bulb chapter we divide by the wattage printed in the listing title. That figure is arithmetic over the seller's own claimed wattage; we have not metered any bulb, and a stated watt is not a measured watt.
One count of 171,098 sits under six seated Syska listings, 299,954 under both EVEREADY 10 W listings and 15,461 under an Orient 12 W two-pack and an Orient 40 W single. That is a marketplace pooling feedback across a brand family, which is ordinary and openly done, and we say so on each card where it happens.
Three seated listings filed under 'LED bulb' are something else, per their own product photographs: two foldable blade lamps and one rotating multicolour party bulb. Their cards say so and we draw no rupee-per-watt comparison between them and the household bulbs, because it would not mean anything.
A discount percentage is the gap between a price and an MRP the seller states. Wipro prints 5 per cent and Jaquar 36 and 45, while H Decor prints 88 off a stated Rs. 1,999 and Dunagiri 86 off Rs. 1,899. We have not verified that any bulb here sold at its stated MRP.
Wattage, lumen figures, 'ISI certified', surge-protection ratings, eye-safety-compliance wording and every lifetime claim on this page is the listing's own text, quoted as printed. We have not lit, metered or run any of these bulbs and make no claim about brightness, colour or how long one lasts.
In our 21 September 2026 read, the cheapest listing is a Syska 9 W pack of 2 at Rs. 110 and the cheapest bulb is something else entirely: a Glowing Night 9 W pack of 10 at Rs. 247, which is Rs. 24.70 a bulb - though it carries only 16 ratings at 3.6, which is not enough to judge it. The cheapest well-evidenced bulb is the Syska 9 W pack of 10 at Rs. 372, or Rs. 37.20 each, with 4.2 from 1,962 ratings.
Because the pack count is not in the title. Six listings in our read are titled 'Syska 9 W Basic Standard B22 LED Bulb' and cost Rs. 110, Rs. 141, Rs. 167, Rs. 226, Rs. 242 and Rs. 372 - they are packs of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 respectively, and the quantity appears only in the grey subtitle under the title. Per bulb they run Rs. 55.00, Rs. 47.00, Rs. 41.75, Rs. 45.20, Rs. 40.33 and Rs. 37.20. Nothing is concealed, but the headline prices are not comparable to each other.
Often, but not reliably, and the exception in our read is stark. EVEREADY's 10 W pack of 10 costs Rs. 502, or Rs. 50.20 a bulb; its 10 W pack of 12 costs Rs. 984, or Rs. 82.00 a bulb - sixty-three per cent more per bulb for two extra bulbs, with the same brand, the same stated wattage and the same pooled count of 299,954 ratings. Syska's five-pack (Rs. 45.20 a bulb) is likewise dearer than its four-pack (Rs. 41.75). Crompton runs the other way: its 60 W four-pack is Rs. 566.00 a bulb against Rs. 578.00 in the two-pack.
Because the marketplace pools feedback across a brand's family of listings. In this read, one count of 171,098 at 4.2 appears under six seated Syska listings - packs of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 nine-watt bulbs and a 30 W single; 299,954 appears under both EVEREADY 10 W listings; and 15,461 appears under an Orient 12 W two-pack and an Orient 40 W single. This is ordinary and openly done, but it means the number tells you a brand is widely bought rather than that the specific box in front of you is good.
A badge is arithmetic over two numbers the seller chose - the selling price and a stated MRP - and we have not verified that any bulb here sold at its MRP. The pattern in our read is that the badge tracks how well known the brand is. Wipro prints 5 per cent off Rs. 650 and Jaquar 36 and 45 per cent; H Decor prints 88 per cent off a stated Rs. 1,999 and Dunagiri 86 off Rs. 1,899. Stating a high MRP is legal and commonplace, and we allege nothing against any seller. But the Wipro 30 W with the 5 per cent badge costs Rs. 619, and the Syska 30 W with a 73 per cent badge costs Rs. 239.
